They have all appeared in major films. Some have won Oscars. Appearing in Suits isn’t major league and it was made in Toronto.

phoenixrosehere · 09/04/2020 12:45

Exactly Bubbles.

Toronto is nothing like Hollywood.

Mummy195 · 09/04/2020 13:24

Glad to see that H&M backed the right horse with Disney.

I don’t know a single person in the uk who watched it. What were the viewing figures here?

chrisseldah1 · 09/04/2020 23:41

Oh I actually loved suits , favourite character Gina Torres( Jessica Pearson) and Harvey Spector. Suits and the good wife were my favourite legal dramas .

Roussette · 10/04/2020 07:10

I'd never heard of Suits until I heard of Meghan.

Cerseirys · 10/04/2020 07:44

I don’t know a single person in the uk who watched it.

That doesn't mean it wasn't a success. It lasted 9 seasons so clearly it had an audience somewhere!

Samcro · 10/04/2020 07:46

@chrisseldah1 mine was Donna. and of course Harvey

I was wondering when H&M launch their new charity, maybe they will disable the IG account reply button since this is just a troll magnet. Probably the best thing would be to launch a site, advertise charities and work on IG, Youtube (also disable comments). That way people can write to them say, regarding a charity that needs promotion, help etc. and they just delete useless trolling on sight.
It looks like the Gates Foundation has not even bothered with IG, though they have facebook, and that is attracting a few trolls who seem more determined to be angry at Gates wealth than saying anything useful.

BubblesBuddy · 10/04/2020 12:21

Gates is a totally different beast to Archewell though! He actually gets things done rather then just talking. Harry and Meghan haven’t spent any money on anyone yet or saved any lives.

BubblesBuddy · 10/04/2020 12:28

The most Suits ever got here was 2 million for series 5 dropping to 1.2 million. So we didn’t watch it in droves. It was one of hundreds of productions made in Toronto and really not watched much here.

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 12:58

Archewell is not even launched yet, how do you know what they will and will not be doing.

SenecaFallsRedux · 10/04/2020 13:03

Suits was one of my guilty pleasures. It was very watchable for the fashion, too, although no woman in real life dressed that way in any law firm in the US ever.

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 13:03

Suits viewing was over 4million at some point. Dropped slightly over the years, though a significant drop was when MM and her costar left. I don't know where you get your UK viewings from.
I don't think it matters much if it was watched in the UK or not. UK is not the world.

On Rotten Tomatoes, it's rated at 86% by viewers, and 91% by critics. Rotten Tomatoes is known to be usually vicious when it rates. Some of it's seasons got 100%.

Quarantina · 10/04/2020 13:10

I know quite a few UK people (myself included) that watched it via Netflix. Is Netflix included included in viewing statistics?

Roussette · 10/04/2020 13:11

Gates is a totally different beast to Archewell though! He actually gets things done rather then just talking. Harry and Meghan haven’t spent any money on anyone yet or saved any lives

What a ridiculously pathetic comment. The Gates Foundation has been established for over 16 years!

The Foundation that is being set up by H&M is about 16 days.

That comment is an illustration of how those who want to have a dig at them .... will... even when it's ridiculous.

Port1aCastis · 10/04/2020 13:25

Some folks do not care if they seem rather obsessive just so long as their bundle of sticks to beat H&M is well stocked

DaveCoaches · 10/04/2020 13:31

I wouldn’t think so Quarantina as usually it only goes on Netflix a little while after airing. I may be wrong though!

I find some of the criticism so baffling. Because she is not an A list, Oscar-winning actress she is nothing. Suits is glossy TV, it’s probably not award-winning but it has its place and people liked it. There are hundreds of actresses who would be jealous of MM being a lead in a TV show. How many pilots don’t get off the ground?

They will never be like Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg and their foundations, no offence they don’t have the same intelligence. (Plus they’re millionaires not billionaires.) But so what? They’re not going to cure cancer but they can do some good and shine a light on neglected causes. There is room for all types of philanthropy, if they prefer the glitzy end it’s not a crime.

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 16:26

Exactly Dave, there is a lot of wannabe actors who would give anything for 50K per episode. Film and TV is so cut throat nowadays, it's hard to even get a regular job as an extra or even crew, let alone one of the leads.

The media has had a run with the 'dim Harry' narrative. How the dumbest members of the RF have the most tangible projects of the younger members is beyond me.

They do not have to have the tech genius of BG or MZ to be successful. Warren Buffett was not a tech genius, and neither are a lot of supper successful entrepreneurs and philanthropists, including the Obamas and Oprah. You just need to know how to invest the money and work smartly. While it may not be likely that they cure cancer, they may take a big endeavour like the Gates Malaria project. They are still young and have time to build things up.

Speaking of which, I find it hard to believe that PC would have just left W&H inheritance to just sit about for 20yrs. Surely it was invested all over the place, managed by different hedge fund managers etc. I would expect it to be closer to 100m by now for both W&H.

Cerseirys · 10/04/2020 16:33

So Suits is to be sneered at because it wasn't a success in the U.K? What a load of rot!

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 16:40

*super

Samcro · 10/04/2020 17:09

Not bashing mm, but was she a lead? Or do they mean one of the main characters.
Mike and harvey were the leads really.
It was odd i saw jessica actor in criminal minds the other day. Took me ages to work out where i had seen her as she was dressed normally.

Port1aCastis · 10/04/2020 17:27

Yes I agree, William and Harry's inheritances from their Mother will have been invested back at the end of the '90s and will have multiplied considerably by now as no millionaire will just sit on their money so all the talk about H being skint is incorrect and anyway he is still the Queens grandson plus the future Kings son and will never be poor.

BubblesBuddy · 10/04/2020 18:26

He is aid to be worth £40 million at the moment. He simply doesn’t have the funds of Bill Gates. He won’t get to that level of philanthropy. It’s virtually impossible with the high cost of living he has. So where is the money coming from to do anything meaningful? Other people one assumes. They will front campaigns but not actually do anything. They don’t have the money or the skills. They have titles and they have kudos but that’s not enough to make a real difference.
