Thanks for the Heads-Up, Roussette.

Roussette · 08/04/2020 17:08

It may be OK Mustress but it did look a bit dodge to me.

I have strong spyware protection but once I clicked on a link on here, and it absolutely buggered up my laptop and ended up paying god knows what for someone to sort it. And both DH and me are pretty techy too!

Smile

Samcro · 08/04/2020 17:12

I think she should just do it, get married and have a party later.
Do feel for her, she must feel doomed.

I really do feel for Beatrice too. (coping with Andrew, Fergie, etc etc.)

Re 'impatience' for HaM to announce what they actually plan - all this stuff has been in the planning before Archie was even born! All we get is platitudes.

Roussette · 08/04/2020 17:19

She had already cancelled the reception in Buckingham Palace gardens. Who knows what they'll do now. It must be very stressful. But like Portia on here who has had to cancel her wedding.

Someone who is same age as my DD1 is due to get married in June near me, I can't see it happening TBH. I met the Mum when our kids were 6 months old, 30 years later.... this. Feel for her.

Samcro · 08/04/2020 17:21

Dd is invited to a wedding in july. They haven't cancelled it yet, but I can't see it happening. Even if this is all over, lots of the invited people are disabled.

So sad about people cancelling weddings, and not being able to attend funerals either.

Could one still 'just get married' at the moment? ie reg office, 2 witnesses? I dont know if that's still even going ahead.

Cerseirys · 08/04/2020 17:26

No, I think it's no weddings and no baptisms at the moment.

karrie5479 · 08/04/2020 17:26

Its a video about recycling and harry and Meghan its on dailymotion, that's a really famous video sharing website Its not malware

Roussette · 08/04/2020 17:29

Sorry karrie.... it just came across as a bit strange when I clicked on it. Fair enough

Samcro · 08/04/2020 17:29

It must be so disappointing

OP posts:
Roussette · 08/04/2020 17:30

If it were me and I was getting married, I would honestly want to cancel it for a year.

karrie5479 · 08/04/2020 17:34

No problem Roussette

TheMustressMhor · 08/04/2020 17:46

We all need to be careful (wrt possible malware).

I am sorry that Princess Beatrice will have to cancel her wedding.

Cerseirys · 08/04/2020 18:16

•that's a really famous video sharing website Its not malware•

Yes I think we all know that but it's possible to make a link look like it's from a reputable site when it's actually going somewhere else.

TheMustressMhor · 08/04/2020 18:21

Is it just me, or are others wondering why people are suggesting that "the elderly" are not paying attention to the guidelines (coronavirus-related)?

I might be old enough to have DC who are in their thirties but I do not remember the Second World War FFS.

TheMustressMhor · 08/04/2020 18:22

Sorry. That was nothing to do with the subject of this thread. Pay no attention.

CallmeAngelina · 08/04/2020 18:24

Ephraim Hardcastle this morning: "Harry and Meghan's Archewell charity 'to do something that matters' gets short shrift from the BBC's Andrew Neil. 'A period of silence from both would be "something that matters" to many of us,' he barks.

BarleylemonPenguin · 08/04/2020 18:24

Re 'impatience' for HaM to announce what they actually plan

These foundations (such as the Tony Blair foundation) are not designed to collect funds from ordinary citizens but for governments to ‘invest’ in. It remains to be seen if this one follows suit.

phoenixrosehere · 08/04/2020 18:38

Re 'impatience' for HaM to announce what they actually plan - all this stuff has been in the planning before Archie was even born! All we get is platitudes.

Planning and putting it to effect is another thing isn’t it? Planning takes time, especially when you’re doing other things. Building charities from what looks like the ground up take time, not to mention looking at the legalities and those of the country it is based in, funding, sponsors, etc.. They weren’t exactly completely focused on it and doing nothing else but planning this charity were they?

Besides, if they had launched the charity immediately after they stepped down, the press would have had an even bigger field day.

phoenixrosehere · 08/04/2020 18:48

'A period of silence from both would be "something that matters" to many of us,' he barks.

Honestly, some people need to make up their mind. They don’t say anything and the media post something about them and it’s their fault, they do say something.. oh they need to be quiet.

Two weeks ago, I heard nothing at all from them, but on social media, magazines were reposting old stories from months ago if not last year about them.

It really just comes back to the article that was posted. As long as they play the game with the media and do exactly what they want them to do, no issues, but the moment they don’t, let’s do whatever we can to punish them.

LaMarschallin · 08/04/2020 18:56

I've thought the same, Mustress. My father was alive in WW2, but he was 55 when I was born.
A neighbour recently died at the age of 94 and even though she remembered the war, she was a child during it. She said she'd rather enjoyed it (being sent home from school etc) because she was too young to understand the implications.

Friends of elder DD have cancelled their wedding. All sorts of sad little details: for example, they'd already had their rings engraved with the date Sad

ButteryPuffin · 08/04/2020 19:07

Ok, I think the Telegraph should take some blame, and possibly the lion's share, for doing the reveal on the name. I would go as far to say they probably saw it as a handy distraction from the government's awful handling of coronavirus. I'm perfectly willing to believe that the Sussexes didn't intend to launch it yet - it's really not a good time and it's a no brainer to wait a few months.

That said, I'm not really behind
They weren’t exactly completely focused on it and doing nothing else but planning this charity were they?
What else was taking up so much time? They had been on holiday since November, complete with household staff to look after them and go out for coffee. All their royal engagements will have been organised for them. The donkey work of any property search will likewise have been done by staff. What has been preventing them from thinking about the venture that's going to be central to their new lives? We can limit this to 'before mid-March' because I concede that since then everyone's been stressed by coronavirus. But before then..?

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 08/04/2020 19:20

buttery the Telegraph journalists were doing their job - ie finding out information and disclosing it if in the public interest. So I think there is no 'blame' to be attached to them.

HaM have been on fucking holiday since December! VV busy obvs with insta etc, but cry me a river about how hard they have been 'working'! and a few days ago they needed another 'break' and here we are again... (not you of course)

Samcro · 08/04/2020 19:29

I would rather talk about being old than smipe qt 2 parents.
I think my dad rather enjoyed his war, he was a child and was evacuated from tooting to the seaside
