Samcro I well remember that teenage thing about Donny Osmond - vs - David Cassidy.

Shame the David Cassidy died from dementia so young.

Samcro · 30/03/2020 19:14

I remember that her dress had a big bow on the bottom (because, subsequently, so did mine Blush).

Also remember that she had a floral headdress going up the aisle and that was whipped off and a diamond tiara put in its place for going down.
Quite clever, really, and great showmanship.

As a by the by, I remember all the cool girls liked David.
I liked Donny. The pattern was set very early...

chrisseldah1 · 31/03/2020 18:15

Wow Sarah’s dress looks really beautiful, definitely prefer it to Diana’s.

Nishky · 31/03/2020 18:43

Does anyone know if the embroidery on the back of Eugenies dress means anything or is it just decoration? I think Sarah had meaningful embroidery

Samcro · 31/03/2020 18:56

Dianas was rather creased i seem to remember

Megz veil was embroidered with symbols of the Commonwealth. Rather ironic now.

LaMarschallin · 01/04/2020 08:27

Picture of Sarah's dress sans Andrew:

Think she had bees embroidered on it, as she'd had them included on her coat of arms to show she liked to be busy.
Also think the bees may have contributed to the name "Beatrice".
There was definitely a whopping A embroidered on the train.

And the flowers in her hair before the marriage:

Sarah said in an interview that she wanted to go up the aisle a country girl and back down the aisle a princess.

Roussette · 01/04/2020 09:08

It wasn't the thing to say at the time, but I was not impressed at all with Diana's dress. Mine, in a similar style, was silk too, but it did not crease one bit. Dian's was so creased when she got out the carriage.

Samcro · 01/04/2020 09:40

im trying to remember Kates dress, I do remember she looked lovely.

OP posts:
Roussette · 01/04/2020 12:05

Kate's dress was so elegant and regal, I loved it all but the boob area, which looked a bit Madonna structured strange.

Mummy195 · 01/04/2020 23:03

So it's the end of Day 1 for Freedom Day.

I bet H&M broke out the champagne last night already.

It so happens to co-incide with the target of Sussex Great Forest reaching 100 000 trees planted.
Last year sometime after baby Archie was born, around the time H&M took the private jets for Archie's security and did the carbon offset, their supporters decided to plant 10 000 trees by baby Archie's first birthday in order show their support. That figure was reached quite early, so they pushed for 100 000 for his birthday in May. That figure was reached today.

People have been either planting trees or donating to nature / tree charities to plant for them. You contact and pay direct to the charity, not the supporters.

Are you Meghan Markle mummy? GrinGrin

chrisseldah1 · 01/04/2020 23:25

@Triglesoffy

Was that really necessary? Maybe Mummy just likes Harry & Meghan and follows all the positive news about them. Don’t really get why that needs to be looked down upon 🤷‍♂️ Especially on this thread.

I’m neutral about both and don’t hold them on a pedestal but the incessant negativity towards both around some twitter threads , dm columns etc just doesn’t interest me. Hence why I don’t bother much with them.

chrisseldah1 · 01/04/2020 23:33

@Mummy195 think that is a great initiative. Don’t like their hypocrisy with taking private jets at all but maybe they at least acknowledge that they are flawed on this issue. I think environmental issues for any public figure are a minefield. Both Prince Charles and William like Harry & M Have been hypocrites on this issue tbh.

I know even us mere mortals would love to do more on this issue but at times we fail. I don’t know what the answer is , there is no perfect solution I suppose acknowledging that humans do harm to our environment and constantly striving to change habits and contribute positively is better than not trying at all.Thats my two pence anyway..

Triglesoffy · 02/04/2020 00:19

Gawd, can no one make a joke round here?

Tezza1 · 02/04/2020 01:20

Roussette I was a couple of years older than Diana, and the only people I remember looking favourably at Dians's dress were the nine year old girls I was teaching at the time.

Roussette · 02/04/2020 08:49

Great initiative on the planting of the trees, well done H&M

Tezza Makes sense to me. It was a princess dress for sure, shame it was a bit creased!

Nishky · 02/04/2020 09:00

@Tezza1 I was 15 at the time of Charles and Diana’s wedding-I hated her dress, thought it over the top. Now when I see pictures of it I have a great sense of nostalgia for the 80’s. It really was suited to the time
