Returning briefly to the thread subject, the DM is reporting that security has been "beefed up" in Vancouver. By which they mean a tarp has been spread across the iron gates to stop people peeking through, and some "Private Property - no trespassing" signs to which has been added a very polite handwritten "thank you!"

My experience of Canadians (those I have met, obviously) is that they are very nice but also very inquisitive. I wonder if the Sussexes are finding this?

I'm really delighted by the idea of Bea's wedding. She may not want a bells and whistles do but I'd like it for her! I can see that to some it might be an opportunity to target PA and so best avoided, but a really jolly wedding would be lovely after the misery of Megxit and Brexit.

I am loving HAICH! There's a whole new thread right there... for the record, I pronounce it H but my children say haich (it's the local thing). After 23 years, I have given up correcting them, but I do cringe when I hear it.

I was just childishly pleased to notice that the acronym for "H-as-I-call-him" is "Haich".

One result of my rubbish joke was that I actually watched the video of her saying it, having only read about it before.

And: Oh. Good. Grief!

The big "H" revelation, followed by as though she'd let us know about some bizarre sexual preference he has, rather than the fact that a wife has a very innocuous nickname for her husband.

And she had no idea about the "British tabloids" because there's nothing like that in America?

I think some joker has purchased the domain, but I can’t comprehend how, they must have people for this sort of thing, buying all variations of their names.

I, for one, won't sleep tonight for the sheer excitement of wondering how much tackier they can get what the "something big" could be.

Last time I looked at that site there was a very nice Canadian view and a similar message about something wonderful coming, and I thought it was genuine. Looked again just now and thought, surely not!

The trouble is that they really have left themselves open to this sort of mockery.

Any A-lister worth their salt will be distancing themselves from them asap.

I can't remember how I came across the site but I thought it was a response to not being able to use their title and the word "royal". I assumed Sussex Royal would quietly disappear and this new one would be its replacement. Didn't occur to me it might be a spoof.

There is nothing in the US to compare with the pervasiveness and currency of the British tabloids. There are a few tabloid publications in the US, but very few people read them, and most Americans probably couldn't even name them. So Meghan was definitely on point with that observation.
