No harm in having it ready for the next event/announcement...

It was suggested by MNHQ that people can scroll past any posts, ANY posts, that they don't want to read. That is their right.

Oh yes, it's great this. I don't feel the need to narrate it though! Smile I think there will be disagreement over who's been rude, but at least we all believe we're right Wink

It's a public forum, for discussion. I think the cats and dinners padded out the numbers of threads. I only joined in the last few. Like I said, I think it's more harmful than chit chat.

Wilmalovescake · 28/01/2020 20:03

I used to find these threads really interesting.

There’s so much sniping and flouncing on them now that I’ve given up trying to follow the actual discussions anymore, which is a real shame as I found it all fascinating.

Samcro · 28/01/2020 20:17

This thread is funny
So we ave posters saying that people have been nasty to them, whilst they are posting nasty stuff about someone else.
So i assume its ok to rip MM apart
But not to have anyone be mean to you? Odd or what.

rockingchaircandle · 28/01/2020 20:20

@TheMustressMhor

I abandoned the whole series of threads when I felt I couldn't cope with the hatred shown me by some people.

Please can I ask that you don't bring this up unless you're willing to clarify. The way you went about this led to it being speculated that I'd sent you a nasty pm or that I'd used cancer to mock you. Both of which weren't true. I'm sure that wasn't your intention but you never cleared it up. If you don't want to now, it's fairer not to bring it back up.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 28/01/2020 20:23

Could we please please move on from all this now. I would love it if we could return to the spirit of the first few threads. I know many others would too.

Here's a link from the hated DM by the hated Piers Morgan. Just for balance.

Ha ha!

DandyAndFine · 28/01/2020 20:30

Cheers for clarifying @SunsetBoulevard3 Cake

Maybe what we need now is an inspirational banana

SunsetBoulevard3 · 28/01/2020 20:33

What would the message be? Points for the best answer..

rockingchaircandle · 28/01/2020 20:35

Yes, by all means let's move on. But unless it's accepted that it's a discussion forum and there will be opposing views it'll crop back up again.

Threads mainly seem to have been extended by people speculating about MM and PH with various degrees of harshness and batshittery, people disagreeing, people disagreeing over meanness, cats and menus, people posting links to all the 'a source close to' articles, 'blind' gossip sites etc and people pointing out why it's wrong to @/ not@/ use certain punctuation etc!

I don't think the sources have been equal and it's been actively frowned on to use evidence over gut feelings which to me is pretty dangerous for discussions. Have I said 'you must use academic standards'? Apologies if I said that exactly, but when something seems bizarre I wonder why. I think this is a narrative people have run with me to complain that I'm patronising them or derailing.

This was good Grin

lynsey91 · 28/01/2020 20:44

A poster (can't remember who and can't be bothered to look) said they have never seen a non famous woman cradle her bump.

Well I'd like to know what planet she is living on because I see it all the time. I've never been pregnant so no idea if I would have cradled or not. I find it a bit odd but it doesn't bother me

Butterymuffin · 28/01/2020 20:45

So, assuming this offer has actually been made where the Sussexes could come back to the UK without carrying out royal duties, do we think they would? Straw poll - do people think:

-Absolutely not, they'll never come back
-Yes but not yet, it's too soon
-Yes but it'll just be Harry

  • They'll be back within the next month or two
SunsetBoulevard3 · 28/01/2020 20:46

But rocking you are implicitly setting yourself up as the arbiter of what should and shouldn’t be said according to you. It’s not for you to act as the moderator of this thread or any other! That is the job of MNHQ. If you think a post breaks guidelines, report it. Otherwise this is a forum for people with a diversity of views, many of which you won’t agree with , to express themselves. However you seem to believe that your judgement is somehow superior and of an elevated class compared with many others . It is not up to anyone to satisfy you with sources and prove the veracity of what they say. These are opinions based on personal judgements. These judgements may be formed from a different life experience to yours. You may ask why posters think what they do and what the reasons are, but from a place of curiosity and interest , not hectoring and bullying. You aren’t keen on bullying you say, which is kind of ironic.
You seem unable to accept that people have views with which you disagree. Most people, if they don’t like a thread or the opinions expressed don’t read the thread and go elsewhere. Yet you seem to believe your opinion is needed in order to correct others faulty opinions, according to your judgments. That could be seen as a little bit arrogant.

Encyclo · 28/01/2020 20:46

It's a odd dynamic on this thread for sure.

Obviously I believe I'm the height of fairness, honesty and decency.

The problem is, everyone on this thread believes they are the same.

derxa · 28/01/2020 20:47

Absolutely not, they'll never come back

Encyclo · 28/01/2020 20:48

I think they'll be back.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 28/01/2020 20:49

butterymuffin
Yes, but it’ll just be Harry. Maybe not for a few years though.

7Worfs · 28/01/2020 20:50

Meghan will not - there is no pattern in her life so far to suggest that she moves anywhere but forward.
Harry will be back in a few years.

DandyAndFine · 28/01/2020 20:50

Re sources:

Much as I hate the Daily Mail and don’t read it and haven’t linked to it myself, I think it’s mostly an acceptable source for this topic. Simply because it has the monopoly. Sources go to the DM because it’s online version is one of the most read news sites in the world. It has the money to invest in and get stories. The Times and Telegraph and Guardian quote them. Do you really think they wouldn’t want tin some of those stories first I’d they could? Of course you get would. It’s a topic of interest. Interest sells papers. And there’s political, historical and social relevance to H&M leaving.

As for the DM not being reliable - comparatively or doesn’t attract that many lawsuits. And it wins good proportion of them. Because it mostly does fact check and verify and use reliable sources otherwise it would spend a shitload in litigation. Everything they (and other papers) publish is libel-read by lawyers first.

As for friends/sources close to MM and PH talking, that’s the way it usually works and is likely to be authorised by H&M. Ditto sources close to PW. The Queen is the role model here. She may never complain or explain directly, but you bet her corgi’s ass she does it via others.

7Worfs · 28/01/2020 20:50

Snap, SunsetBoulevard3

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 28/01/2020 20:53

The sniping will never stop while one side are aggressively seeking to occupy the moral high ground while actually enthusiastically joining in with and bumping the discussion along all the while asserting they're only seeking to raise the level of debate. It's smacks of hypocrisy and I think other posters find that hard to stomach. The complete lack of insight from one or two posters as they continue to criticise others just beggars belief too and is hard to ignore.

I, however plan to return to my policy of ignoring certain names and just dipping in with the occasional comment if I feel so inclined. It's much enjoyable that way.

peaceanddove · 28/01/2020 20:54

I have to agree with every word sunset said upthread. I do think the rocking poster is attaching far too much importance to themselves.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 28/01/2020 20:56

Spot on sunset.

Jillyhilly · 28/01/2020 20:59

If everyone just ignore it every time the thread derails into talking about the thread (and -yawn - what is and is not allowed to be said on it) rather than the topic of H and M, things will move along swimmingly.
