These are the words of Prince Harry. He sounded defeated. He has lost his military patronages. He is no longer living anywhere near his brother or father. He is moving to Canada.

Meanwhile, Meghan has been photographed in the park, with Archie and the dogs, beaming. It seems that she alerted the paparazzi herself. Meghan has truly got what Meghan wants.

This was obvious! Harry must have been warned about this. His unreasonable obsession with and vendetta against the British press, or Meghan's assurances that they could control their image via social media, must have blinded him. The royal rota system, which they so casually dissed, actually protected them.

Torontopaper1 on Twitter is well worth a read. It is so waspish.

Note the wording: "threaten to sue". Not "will sue" or "intend to sue".

It's a well known gambit (though I couldn't comment as to if was the case here) where the celeb gets to put out a statement of plausible deniability that the shots were staged and the paps love it because a) the "fact" the shots were "covert" and now "notorious" for allegedly not being staged they increase in value because you two stories for the price of one in which they are used (the original and then the "sue" story b) they know they are not going to be sued.

So, all the agreements with the press in this country not to print pap shots of the RF and their children - are all bets off now with Harry and Meghan?

So we could see the DM printing pictures of them on a beach etc? Because it will be nightmarish for them. It was bad enough for Diana but now that everyone has a camera on their phone - how will they get any privacy?

I don’t understand on what grounds she would be considering suing the paps. It’s intrusive. But they’ve not done anything wrong as far as I’m aware.

Absolutely. They have thumbed their noses at the British tabloid press. They have dispensed with the royal rota system and the royal system in general and are now fair game.

I'm sure Harry wrote his own speech. He might have had guidance on content from his wife, that'd be normal. Lots of people on MN use "gotten" these days (I find it particularly irritating so notice it A LOT).

My take is that Meghan worked her socks off building a successful career - she was very well liked as Rachel Zane, and The Tig was doing well - and so I can imagine she must have viewed with rising panic the destruction of everything she had worked so hard for before meeting Harry and felt the need to do something to salvage what she could.

I think bolting is an act of self preservation. Unfortunately I don't think it takes Harry's needs into to account at all.

I expect she'lll want another baby because she married a man who was always clear he wanted children, and who is confident his wife shares his outlook. And it would make sense, biologically, to go sooner than later

It was also the UK media that had a blanket ban, in agreement with the RF, when Harry was serving overseas. It was the international media that broke the story, potentially putting him and his squadron at risk and meaning he had to end his tour early.
