The royal family

Harry and Meghan - "It Has Come To This"

TheMustressMhor · 21/01/2020 10:30

These are the words of Prince Harry. He sounded defeated. He has lost his military patronages. He is no longer living anywhere near his brother or father. He is moving to Canada.

Meanwhile, Meghan has been photographed in the park, with Archie and the dogs, beaming. It seems that she alerted the paparazzi herself. Meghan has truly got what Meghan wants.

I wonder what they said to one another when he got back?

Well played.

@MNHQ a woman of colour (as Meghan describes herself) is being slandered and maliciously speculated about on thread after thread in this topic and you delete my post about Peter Philips exploiting his privilege?!

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 21/01/2020 19:30

Didn't Meghan describe herself as Caucasian on her CV when she was working as an actress? Or have I got that wrong?

eminencegrise · 21/01/2020 19:30

waiting to drive him to his mansion.

It's some friend of theirs but apparently he's so impressed and in love with them they can stay there for as long as they like. Wonder if he's impressed enough to pay for their security . . . Of course if you choose to go walk the dogs in a public park.

mummyrocks1 · 21/01/2020 19:31

I ve changed my opinion of them now, for the better. I thought they wanted it all but actually it seems like he graciously accepted the deal they got. He isn't having public money and is paying back the refurbishment costs of frog more house too. I am very glad we won't be paying for them not to do royal duties. It seems HRH is up with the general view of the public afterall. I wish them luck but think it's sad he's moved away from his family. I can't help thinking he wouldn't have done it if he hadn't have met MM so I hope she's worth loosing his title over. If they divorced could he come back and claim his Title back?

MrsBrentford · 21/01/2020 19:31

@RatYear2020

If you didn’t know who MM was and there were no photos on this thread, the only post that would identify MM heritage is yours.

RandomMoth · 21/01/2020 19:32

I'm not convinced by the smiling argument. Presumably the paps could take hundreds of shots as she walked along and capture a moment where she seems to be looking at the camera.

Not saying she didnt know, but I'm not convinced she did.

Froq · 21/01/2020 19:37

@WendyMoiraAngelaDarling she did. She also stated she could appear different races depending on what colour she wore.

Bouledeneige · 21/01/2020 19:38

As a couple they never got papped in the UK. Because the media observed the protocols with the RF. That will not be the case in Canada - the press from all over the world can chase them and photo them to their heart's delight.

StubbleTurnips · 21/01/2020 19:38

Just read a long piece on a Toronto Life about Jessica Mulroney and how she brands through instagram - close friend to MM, so wouldn’t be surprised to see H&M go in the same direction if that’s what they are seeking.

DeRigueurMortis · 21/01/2020 19:40

Zara Tindall has done the same for Rolex and Landrover, yes her and Peter are not titled but they certainly use their royal status to their advantage.

Zara has also built her own public profile as an Olympic medal winning sports woman and BBC sports personality of the year.

I don't deny you have a point wrt Peter, but the type of endorsements Zara did were absolutely not out of kilter with that of other sports people of her status/success.

Has she been slandered? How do you know that? If she has, then let Megain sue.

and you delete my post about Peter Philips exploiting his privilege?!
Didn't you brand a whole race as heathens?

rockingchaircandle · 21/01/2020 19:45

The lack of self awareness on here is staggering!

"the Meghan and Hardy Show is going to run and run isn't it? No chance of it going quiet and them just toddling off into the sunset?"

You're the ones creating it with your obsessive hounding, fantasy and lies!

And can you pack it in with the mental health slurs? Glad to see some of them getting deleted

Sunshineand · 21/01/2020 19:46

I'd like to thank SingingLily for giving us her husband's take on the matter on the previous thread. It's always a huge relief when some bloke imparts his wisdom and insight.

We can only hope the scales fall off his eyes quickly

Indeed ... and preferably before he either runs out of people to sue, or loses it completely Sad

Butterymuffin · 21/01/2020 19:50

If MNHQ thought anything being posted was slanderous /libellous (can't ever remember which is which) they'd delete the post and warn people not to repeat it. They don't want to be sued either.

This is one of the things I think they have been dim not to realise. The press aren't demons here but saints everywhere else.

RatYear2020 · 21/01/2020 19:51

MM described herself as a woman of colour in her speech in South Africa.
Someone reported me for being racist - oh the irony!

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 21/01/2020 19:56

Well H&M will be doing the same but obviously need to prove themselves to be trustworthy in terms of what they would advertise.

I don't think using the RF status to advertise Landrover is a bad thing because the royal family have driven them for years and years. She is also a brand ambassador for icandy pushchairs.

I don't know what else Peter advertises but, I don't remember reading anything about them bringing the RF into disrepute (unless I've missed something).

RatYear2020 · 21/01/2020 19:59

Didn't you brand a whole race as heathens?

It was clearly a sarcastic remark about Peter Philips exploiting his royal connections to sell dairy to the Chinese who have managed without it for centuries.

EdithWeston · 21/01/2020 20:10

Landrover also is/was the sponsor of Burghley, so it's an obvious equestrian tie in. Didn't Zara do a range of horsey clothes too? Her endorsements aren't that different from those of say Pippa Funnel, and come on the back of her riding successes.

He intends to pay back the £2.4m refurbishment costs. Intention of doing something and actually doing it aren't the same thing. I'll wait and see what happens.

There's also been a point raised in the press about taxpayers losing out if PC pays PH from the Duchy's income and then claims it as tax-deductible (as he has done in the past for Camilla' clothes even before they married). So, it depends on where PC pays the money to PH from as to whether it impacts on taxpayers.

can't help thinking he wouldn't have done it if he hadn't have met MM so I hope she's worth loosing his title over. If they divorced could he come back and claim his Title back?
Neither H nor M have lost their titles but they just cannot style themselves as HRH (although they haven't actually lost that either - just can't use it).

If H&M divorce then Meghan will lose her HRH styling completely and would just be Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. If Harry came back to the family and started performing royal duties he would still have his same title (unless given another) but would, presumably, be allowed to style himself HRH again.

cathyandclare · 21/01/2020 20:22

By these standards, an actress could reasonably advertise or endorse clothes, make up, perfume, jewellery, watches... etc etc. Many do. But I'm sure many would froth if Meghan did.

Nikhedonia · 21/01/2020 20:23

No one would bother suing the contributors because they are so obviously unhinged

GrinGrinGrin

The irony of someone coming onto a thread to solely contribute that those who contribute to the thread are unhinged. Such delicious irony. Fucking hell.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 21/01/2020 20:25

They've banished you to the wasteland that is the Royal Family topic instead. It's a bit like the Daily Mail readers' comments section. No one would bother suing the contributors because they are so obviously unhinged.

And yet here you are RatYear2020 commenting on the comments 🙄
