Does this look a ridiculous baby sling or is MM cack handed?

This just looks really uncomfortable for MM and her son? Does she have it on right? I had one of those babybjorns and it seemed a lot of less strappy and one sided than this contraption?

@Dobbythehouseelk I thought the Canadians were paying $6million for
Mounties to poop-scoop?

CassiopeaAndromeda · 22/01/2020 04:18

So those who feel Meghan is desperate to be papped, what do you say to them having chosen to live in an area which apears to offer them greater legal protection against paps?

On the flip side, I don't understand why there's a shot with her apparently smiling at the camera if she didn't want the picture taken. It looks so natural though. I do this, two dogs and a small child in a sling would be a terrible idea for a pap shot if she is as vein as it has been suggested. It's surely one of the most unflattering situations.

Romanticrights · 22/01/2020 04:42

To me it seemed quite obvious that she'd loosened one side to breastfeed? He's fallen asleep so she's readjusted slightly. But really it's no ones business? Poor woman.

Give it a fucking rest. Yet again with the Meghan bashing. If Kate were pictured in a similar scenario, the headline and reactions would be very different.

@MustangsDraggedMeAway

If I saw someone walking towards me holding a baby in that manner and wrangling two dogs, I would ask her if she needed me to help. It looks so wrong and unnecessary when you consider she can afford a stroller

Why would she want to have more things to hold? Imagine the backlash if she tied the dogs leads to a stroller for example.

Cordylina · 22/01/2020 07:35

She’s left the fecking country and people are still picking her to pieces. What does she have to do?

LaurieMarlow · 22/01/2020 08:08

Meghan is not a NEW MUM.

I’d say 8 months is pretty new when it comes to one of the biggest changes of your life. But I get that you want to stamp out all potential sympathy Wink

She is however, a human being. No one’s mental health would withstand being criticised for every single thing they do. Have a think about that and how it would affect you, if you were being handed the same treatment.

One of the funniest things about this is the sling bashing. I always thought of MN as very pro sling. But then Meghan does it and this place turns into a bugaboo sales forum Grin

For the record, absolutely nothing wrong with an 8 month old in a sling.

JohnVirgo · 22/01/2020 08:12

See when you write posts like these OP, not only do you look awful for doing it but you also stick in the minds of those not so confident baby carrying mums out there who will be reading this. This kind of judgemental pish only helps knock the confidence out of people doing their best.

I would be embarrassed. Imagine picking up something so tiny about a mum and posting about it hoping for others to join in.

ShirleyPhallus · 22/01/2020 08:13

This thread is so vile. Calling Meghan a turd? the whole thing should be deleted

wowfudge · 22/01/2020 08:20

I agree Shirley. I think I reported this thread (there have been many), but all MNHQ did was move it to the Royal Family board.

Some posters on this thread should be ashamed of themselves - keyboard warriors who sound like playground bullies.

Well as a "not new mum" I remember being scolded in public by an older man for daring to have my 4mo baby (second child even!) sleeping in the stroller with her hat over her eyes. He even reached in to push it back while tutting at me. However if he'd bothered to actually talk to me rather than assuming he knew everything, I could have told him that for some reason she preferred the hat over her eyes and would wriggle herself until it was in position then go to sleep. If I pushed it back off her she would fuss and wriggle until it was back where she wanted it. She's still very fabric-fiddly and cuddly as a 7yr old so I guess it felt good to her because she's, you know, a person.

That's the sort of things mums know about their babies, but good old Joe Bloggs on the street (or his cousin Jane on the internet) knows better right? I mean, surely Archie can't have a preference for being held a certain way or have been feeding or didn't like the carrier that day - it has to be because MM is evil and can't even care for her own kid right? I mean for Pete's sake, many times I was half-slung for numerous different reasons but the babies were happy and safely supported by those things called arms and I was happy so who cares?

Also Hmm to those betting MM doesn't / didn't breastfeed because she's horrible and wouldn't want to - I breastfed all my kids and it says diddly squat about me as a person or as a mum, just like bottle-feeding says diddly squat about parents who choose that. Gotta love mum shaming on mumsnet. Ridiculous.

Equanimitas · 22/01/2020 08:22

Baby Archie looks uncomfortable in that sling!

Wow, the back of his head must be incredibly expressive for you to be able to work that out.

anewdispensation · 22/01/2020 08:22

Wow people should just leave them alone. This is getting ridiculous now! She’s just a mum like the rest of us no matter what your feelings are about her and her husband. This nasty articles and judgement sadly don’t reflect well on us as a society- we shouldn’t hound people this way. It is unfair

Equanimitas · 22/01/2020 08:25

It looks so wrong and unnecessary when you consider she can afford a stroller.

I've got news for you, mothers frequently use both. Slings aren't just for people too poor to own a stroller, you know.

NiceViper · 22/01/2020 08:27

It is very unlikely that someone who news they are attracting international press attention would whilst out and about in public breastfeed their 8 month old.

And I wouid like to support new mums by pointing out that baby slings, correctly fitted, are nowhere near as uncomfy as that one looks, and that they are a joy to use. And by 8 months, your baby will be strong enough, and interested enough in the world around them, to enjoy facing outwards (inwards might be better if you need to go somewhere at nap time)

theendoftheendoftheend · 22/01/2020 08:27

To me it seemed quite obvious that she'd loosened one side to breastfeed? He's fallen asleep so she's readjusted slightly.

I don't believe anyone can breast feed a baby in a sling whilst simultaneously walking 2 dogs. If I saw some walking down the street with their baby not properly supported in the sling and 2 dogs in one hand I would probably ask if they needed a hand!

LaurieMarlow · 22/01/2020 08:30

I doubt this woman breastfed at all and is certainly not at 8 months.

How the hell would you know? Wind that neck in.

LizzieSiddal · 22/01/2020 08:32

What the actual fuck????

Why are @MNHQ allowing such utter nastiness to to be posted on their parenting site?

Sunshineand · 22/01/2020 08:32

Yeah 8 months compared to 60+ years of being a mum is not a new mum. Of course Hmm

AuntieStella · 22/01/2020 08:34

She had managed to move the baby back enough that her clothes were completely flat underneath the sling - I know from experience that it is just as disruptive if not more, to get clothes back to that completely flat under the sling, than it is to readjust the straps after the feed. Especially after you've been doing it for 8 months - it really is automatic by then.

We don't know how their baby is fed. But I'm ready to bet good money that it isn't in public (which in its way is a pity)

Sunshineand · 22/01/2020 08:35

I asked them the same question. They said the discussions are educating the ignorant or something like that

LaurieMarlow · 22/01/2020 08:42

They said the discussions are educating the ignorant or something like that

I wish that were the case. Lord knows we’re trying.

I doubt it’s making any difference though. The ignorant are entrenched and seem to like it that way.

Toska · 22/01/2020 08:48

She has dropped the arm of the carrier to breastfeed. I did it yesterday whilst walking around Bluewater but thankfully don't have hordes of nasty people waiting to take pictures and hold them up as some sort of signifier as to my parenting.
