Peter Phillips isn't classed as a working royal though? Certainly cashing in on his position, true enough. More headaches for HMQ?

yolofish · 20/01/2020 23:02

If that is what you are used to, and no amount of adoration for your efforts is enough, then serving purely for the sake of giving or upholding the institution, becoming subsumed into the whole and taking a back seat is going to be too much.

yes catherine totally agree. The point about service (whether to royalty, religion or whatever) is at that some stage you sublimate your own desires to whatever the organisation is that you are serving.

Whether this is a good or a bad thing depends on where you're coming from and what your end goals are (eg, become a priest for access to choir boys: not good; choose to serve an institution whose aims you agree with and abide by all norms: good)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 20/01/2020 23:02

See, if I were either one of H or M, I would find that Peter Phillips advert most off-pissing. I had no idea he was doing that sort of thing. No wonder the Sussexes thought they could too.

Needmorecaffine · 20/01/2020 23:03

H&M will be old news soon as I hear that Jen & Brad May be getting back together Grin

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 23:03

a) I do not think that Meghan ever had any intention of serving the royal family or this country

and

b) this debacle will not bring a regency any nearer, in and of itself.

Although technically I suppose they can now they are no longer working royals. God save us.

yolofish · 20/01/2020 23:04

what AGAIN needmorecaffine??

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 23:05

Oh, and

c) I am sorry that some of you had sub-standard grub this evening.

I think Harry understands what service is. I don't think Meghan has the first clue. Not blaming her, he was brought up with it, she wasn't.

SeperatedSwans · 20/01/2020 23:08

That milk advert is hilarious 🤣 desperate but hilarious! He didn't loose a bet to Zara did he?

The day I see MM flogging milk is the day I will literally laugh my ass off.

MrsBrentford · 20/01/2020 23:11

God she’s been photographed today - how on earth can she say this is about privacy?!

Smiling directly at the camera with Archie and the dogs ffs.

MrsBrentford · 20/01/2020 23:12

Am I late to the party with this info?

I'm wondering about service in its broadest sense.

Musing aloud, my dad (now dead) was brought in India at the end of the Raj, came 'home', joined the Navy. So by implication I understand the traditions of military service, and in fact service to one's country. Which is also clearly a US concept. And must be engrained in Harry, given his upbringing.

But if you grow up outside of that fairly limited framework, does it cross your mind or even matter that much?

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 20/01/2020 23:16

Just seen the photos. That baby carrier doesn't look very comfortable for anyone involved. Those protection officers have got a bit of a raw deal really haven't they? Unless they've always wanted to live in Canada I guess.

kinsss · 20/01/2020 23:17

Regarding grief and the effects, my lovely Father died twenty years ago and I to this day I still grieve and cry for him.

Mum died at Christmas last year so it is pile it on. But I'm ok.

MrsBrentford · 20/01/2020 23:17

It’s clearly staged - makes me so angry .

yolofish · 20/01/2020 23:18

oh FFS my dad wasnt brought in India he was BORN there! sorry, as you were..

callmeadoctor · 20/01/2020 23:20

I didn't really mind Meghan, but that video is clearly ridiculously staged!!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/01/2020 23:20

Meghan on a hike.
All seems well

I am sorry that some of you had sub-standard grub this evening.

Right....Hmm

DeRigueurMortis · 20/01/2020 23:22

Smiling directly at the camera with Archie and the dogs ffs.

Well to be fair, whatever she does to those who disapprove of how she and H have managed this process I doubt anything other that living like a hermit will suffice.

To the "supporters" it's a sign of having done the right thing and feeling relaxed and well done M.

That said of course it's absolutely (and never has been) about privacy, this is about lifestyle and money.

MrsBrentford · 20/01/2020 23:23

It’s about publicity on her terms that makes her look good and furthers her cause (which is herself).

SunsetBoulevard3 · 20/01/2020 23:23

She really looks like the cat that got the cream. She’s playing a game. And Archie looks like he’s about to fall out of that carrier at any minute. What can those protection officers be thinking to themselves I wonder?
