Just been reported on the Scottish news that today Princess Anne has been in Fraserburgh marking the 50th anniversary of a lifeboat disaster.

That's EXACTLY the sort of event which means a lot to the locals, and which Anne/Edward/Sophie/William/Kate turn up to without complaint, day in, day out.

And which isn't nearly glamorous and exciting enough for Miss Diva Markle.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 19/01/2020 18:13

The person I most feel sorry for in all this though is Chelsy Davy. Family has a few quid but she couldn’t cope with all the royal stuff. This must be quite a bitter pill for her.
She stopped going out with Harry in 2010 and it was her choice not to marry into the royal family. Why would you feel sorry for her? She's probably still counting her blessings.

I feel sorry for Beatrice - is she ever going to be able to announce her wedding without being pushed aside because of the poor behaviour of PA or H&M!

(although I'm not sure that B's fiancé is a keeper something I'm not sure of about him - not to mention his odd relationship with his ex)

MissEliza · 19/01/2020 18:45

@PineappleDanish excellent point and it means a lot to the people they come to visit. My df is vehemently anti royal but has met Anne and Charles through his work. He was really impressed with Anne, particularly how genuinely she interacted with people. It takes a lot to impress by df. That must have been in the late 80s and he still brings it up if you get into a discussion about the RF. I think Anne has done her bit and when her time comes, she'll be remembered for living a worthwhile life. What will celebs like MM be remembered for?

And which isn't nearly glamorous and exciting enough for Miss Diva Markle is this just an assumption or do you have something to back the statement up with ?

Pallisers are you being ironic or serious ?

MyBlueMoonbeam · 19/01/2020 18:51

@SusanneLinder sorry to hear you are unwell too - it's an awful dose 💐

@TheMustressMhor thank you - I very much enjoy your posts & yes it's spooky how many of us are afflicted atm 😳

@SirChing thank you for your good wishes too 🙂

didofido · 19/01/2020 18:56

PA in church with his mother! Shock, horror!!

Firstly, he has not been convicted of any crime
and -
Secondly, even convicted rapists and serial killers are allowed to go to church.

He is undoubtedly a nasty piece of work, an utter arse, but the above still applies

PineappleDanish · 19/01/2020 18:59

Agree that a lot of people with no time for the RF have a lot of respect for Anne. She's a grafter. She does the drudge work, the non-glamorous stuff, she's more at home giving out prizes at an agricultural show than at a movie premiere. She's knowledgeable and no-nonsense. And she'll be 70 in August, she's not a youngster any more but she just gets on with it.

She wrote the book on refusing titles for your kids and bringing them up outside the spotlight. She must be aching from rolling her eyes at all of Meghan and Harry's "we want to be global megastars and cash in but please leave us alone and no photos" nonsense.

SeperatedSwans · 19/01/2020 19:05

MissEliza that's a very interesting question, what will MM be rendered for.

She had the opportunity to be part of a historic family. She could have persevered and been remembered for good, but she has just written herself in to the history books of the RF as the 21st century Wallis Simpson.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 19/01/2020 19:08

Meghan’s keeping a dairy? Well that’s news! Perhaps she’s making Sussex Royal bitter and cheese?

SunsetBoulevard3 · 19/01/2020 19:09

Or even butter

SunsetBoulevard3 · 19/01/2020 19:11

This journal or dairy supposedly contains every secret she has been told by [Her Husband) and every encounter she has had

Flaxmeadow · 19/01/2020 19:11

I can't help thinking about the queen taking Meghan to stop on the royal train during a visit. It seemed like a really special welcome the queen made just for Meghan, who seemed to enjoy it at the time. No other person has been invited before.

Shame it hasn't worked out

SunsetBoulevard3 · 19/01/2020 19:18

I really think the RF have done their absolute best to make her welcome. Clearly nothing they did was good enough, because she isn’t the Star.
The RF is full of people mostly older than her with a lot of experience . People who are well read and well educated, with considered opinions. She doesn’t want to listen or learn or have to take a back seat. It isn’t her style. She wants it all, she wants it on her terms and she wants it NOW!

OVienna · 19/01/2020 19:19

Wallis' ears must be burning....lol. I know, that trip on the train looked fab. It is outrageous what has been said about the family. For me, it undermines the credibility of the rest of what is being claimed by their "sources" in the press. I think they did learn from Diana and also live Harry very much.

SeperatedSwans · 19/01/2020 19:28

I think their love for Harry and their support of him and his choices shine through.

They are dissapointed and hurt, but they know not to shut the door. Lessons have been learnt from previous family crises (sp)

I honestly hope she is worth this. I hope Archie never personally knows the fall out of two parents seperating, it's hard for any child but his would be documented in the press for all the see. It's sad really and I do hope it never comes to that.

BackyardChickens · 19/01/2020 19:31

2 questions...

  1. What does ‘Duchy’ mean? Is it short for something? Short for Duchess?

  2. Will Charles be King? The Queen probably has another 10 years, so then Charles will be in his 80’s. Will he bother to be King and have a coronation only for him to die 10-20 years after that? For then a William to be King and have a coronation?

As everyone is getting older it doesn’t seem to ‘work’.

I have explained that terribly...

PattiPrice · 19/01/2020 19:32

Will people really be lining up to throw money at them? For WHAT exactly

For the same reason people who are a sandwich short of a picnic, line up for hours in all sorts of weather to simply watch them walk past on their way to church.
For the same reason people on these threads are now writing their umpteenth post saying the same thing.
There is nowt as queer as folk!

SunsetBoulevard3 · 19/01/2020 19:34

Duchy from Duketh Kernow. (Cornish)
Duke of Cornwall originally.

Sorry, but I don't agree. The same people who line up to watch them walk past on their way to Church would run a MILE if you went along and asked them all to pay a fiver for the privilege. People are very quick to turn out for a free show, but equally as quick to tell you that they'd much rather spend that fiver down the pub, thank you and burger orf.

MissEliza · 19/01/2020 19:38

There's an article in the MailOnline about how little the RF has seen off Archie and it's poises the question 'what will Archie's heritage and roots be'? It's a valid point.

peridito · 19/01/2020 19:39

A duchy is an area of land that is owned or ruled by a duke.
...the Duchy of Cornwall.

the territory of a duke or duchess; a dukedom.
the royal dukedom of Cornwall or Lancaster

RUOK · 19/01/2020 19:40

For me The Duchy encompasses the title of Duke, the lands and the businesses that go with it, farms and enterprises on the land, that kind of thing.

The brand of Duchy Originals, sold in Waitrose, is separate now
