The statement says they intend to pay back the money for Frogmore.
Intend.
Ok not using HRH. Irrelevant l

FiveTwoFaster · 18/01/2020 20:34

If I were the Queen or Prince Charles NS I thought that Harry and M and A weren’t safe without protection, I would pay for it out of my own pocket. They’re not employees, they want their son looked after. It takes a lot of training to be a royal protection officer and there aren’t enough of them anyway. No one needs the Sussexes to be targets. It didn’t work at all well for Princess Diana.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/01/2020 20:35

Which means H&M are free to do as many, of whatever engagements they want, for as much money as they want, which they can either keep or put into this foundation. There will be zero transparency. Donations will come into the foundation; H&M will be paid “expenses and emoluments”, and somehow we’ll see them wearing couture, living in fancy homes, taking expensive holidays, fraternising with celebrities in a most un-Royal way.

Which is why ultimately they have got everything they want.

And as for the talent to draw in interest and investment. MM displayed great talent with that on The Tig. I suggest having a browse. If she achieved all that as a not very high profile file actress, then perhaps things will work out exactly as they hope. And H is very personable if nothing else.

Nice to have clarification from Omid, lol.

DuchessofWoke · 18/01/2020 20:38

Is Omid on the payroll?

Absolutely. But have they got respect?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/01/2020 20:39

@DickDewy I agree that they have great 'Star value' even Fergie was adored over there.

Plus the 'victim of the RF' rhetoric seems to go down well over there.

Froq · 18/01/2020 20:39

I really can’t see Harry behind any of this.

One is a person followed by the press his whole life and has never hidden his disdain for it. Appears close with family members, values privacy, enjoyed the anonymity of the military and was open about wanting to move to Africa and focus on charitable endeavours.

The other is a fame hungry, social climbing, social media loving actress with only other celebrities as friends.

He will be 10 times more miserable living this reality tv life he’s signing up for. He’ll not be able to hide behind the palace to issue letters to the press anymore either.

I give it 2 weeks until they move to LA and 3 months before he floats back into his old role in the UK like nothing happened.

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2020 20:39

Does anyone really believe that Meghan will come back for anything?
I can't see it at all. There will be so much bad feeling for her. She probably won't want to comeback either!
I really can't see it.

Sign of the times?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/01/2020 20:40

So Meghan won't be turning her journal of meetings with different members of the RF into a book? That's good news

I really wouldn't be too confident of that, TBH

To me, the RF are trying to limit the damage from a situation they actually have little chance of influencing; hence the silliness about Meghan's family status, the impossible-to-verify remark about the Frogmore money and the delay in removing the HRH

No doubt some are hoping the separation happens before those chips have to be cashed, so they can claw Harry back and start the briefing against another ex wife

lilmishap · 18/01/2020 20:40

Our Queenie's not silly is she! she did learn from the hatred she faced over the Diana situation. Lesson being Don't let anyone else control the narrative

Make no mistake only she decides who is and is not HRH nobody else gets a say in it, but the wording can be interpreted differently and now she looks like she's given in.

She is not rolling over, she is saying

'You 2 can fuck off because I don't trust you not to embarrass us anymore, but any future shit will be in your own names not mine, and No, you don't get to just decide you won't be a senior royal. Go fuck yourselves, I make that decision and I'm saying No but making it look like I'm saying Yes'
'
HMQ was reportedly seething with how it looked to the public that they'd spent all that cash on Frogmore and then effed off abroad, but it's worded as if H&M chose to pay it back.

As if they've thrashed this out between them with Meghan abroad and Harry negotiating, HMQ has told them how it is and taken back control of the narrative, leaving no room for anyone to cry Poor Me.

Well played

DuchessofWoke · 18/01/2020 20:41

I don’t see Meghan coming back at all. For anything. I’d put money on her not returning for the DofE’s funeral either, which won’t be far off.

MrsDoubtTried · 18/01/2020 20:42

But have they got respect?
Respect has to be earned.

strictlymomdancing · 18/01/2020 20:42

@slashlover

I'll remember your post when I'm proven right.

JeansNTees · 18/01/2020 20:43

@DickDewy I've heard from a US friend that the rumours about not going back until Trump is out of office, lost them lots of sympathy votes. Trump is more popular than we realise, thus he's likely to stay in power for 4 more years. The people who want to stick it to the man (RF especially) are also some of the bigger drain-the-swamp Trump fans.

DuchessofWoke · 18/01/2020 20:43

The line in the Queen’s statement about Meghan being one of the family - you wonder how that was typed out with a straight face.

She fled a fortnight ago and left Harry to face the music. All we’ve heard since (from the likes of Omid) is how she was relieved to escape the racism and unfriendliness of her new in-laws.

She’s never setting foot in the UK again.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/01/2020 20:45

We’re entering a new age of ignorance however where the volume of ones instagram account trumps the content of what they are saying so they will bump along nicely.

Which is a serious point @Cacacoisfarraige

We have politicians elected on popularity. Popularity politics is deemed more worthy than content politics. In this situation the amount of tweets, likes and followers you have trumps anything you actually do. What's important is what you appear to be.

It started happening about 20 years ago and has now reached it's peak.

FiveTwoFaster · 18/01/2020 20:45

Meghan does speeches beautifully - better than Harry! He can talk to anyone. Americans love a royal. Any royal! They will be fine for money and if they stay happily married good for them. I don’t think they actually have much in common except their son, but he has tried very hard to change himself for her. Moving house away from his brother and rest of wider family, going all holistic and cutting down on booze, ignoring his friends, turning down the marines for the Lion Kong. The man can’t be accused of not trying. So now she has suggested moving continents, he is going and if that doesn’t fix her happiness nothing will. He has bent over backwards to adapt to her lifestyle- he may have enjoyed it. But his evening in a pub last night with old friends sounds like a last hurrah.

CathyorClaire · 18/01/2020 20:46

Repaying the Frogmore money so they can keep it as a UK base is spare change in comparison to having to pay anywhere even near a market rent.

Stripping the HRH is fine as far as it goes but still leaves them free to flog tat under the Sussex brand. Brenda should have gone the whole hog. This is a please the plebs and make it all go away exercise.

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2020 20:46

The Queen has played a blinder! And I bet it was all her and not the courtiers advising her either!
Always the diplomat.
I'm not a fan of any of them but you have to admire the lady! I wonder what she really thinks though?

DuchessofWoke · 18/01/2020 20:46

I mean, there will have to be some sort of relationship between Archie and Prince Charles. So presumably Harry will fly over once or twice a year with him? Charles is in his 70s and likely to have a big new job in the next few years so he won’t have time for frequent trips to Canada. Meghan has shown she’s fine with her child being overseas without her so she’ll stay behind and do pilates with Gayle King. You’ll NEVER see her with a member of the royal family again and I would lay a sizeable bet to that effect.

PattiPrice · 18/01/2020 20:47

I think the money from Daddy should stop as well.

Why do you hope this?

It is nothing to do with anyone else what any parent chooses to give to their children. Saying otherwise smacks of envy. Not mere envy but jealousy.
