Does anyone want a thread for people who are happy for Harry and Meghan?

Just seeing if there’s any interest. I think they have their faults but I think this may turn out to be a good thing long term. Anyone want to join in?

What a breath of fresh air this thread is! The vitriol on some others has left me aghast.

I'm happy for them both and don't blame them at all for their actions.

Cerseirys · 19/01/2020 17:29

MN has changed and not for the good. It never used to be like this

I think there were always posts about the royals but nothing like this. The amount of posters salivating at the thought of Harry and Meghan divorcing and who'd get custody of Archie etc is quite disturbing. They're usually the same posters who "know" Prince William would never have an affair and cheat on the fragrant Catherine!

PortiaCastis · 19/01/2020 17:39

I'm not sure that I want to be on here anymore as I find the deep inconsideration for other human beings very upsetting. I should say that I was a teenage Mum and therefore a target for bullying bitches so perhaps I'm scarred by my experiences but I just hate to think of someone on the receiving end of such awful written abuse that I've read on here and just why do people think they can dish it out because ten to one says they couldn't taken it back
Mn for Parents by Parents. Hmph!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 19/01/2020 18:18

Some of the comments on the other threads about Meghan were truly disgusting. Frankly I think a few posters on there have real issues.

PortiaCastis · 19/01/2020 18:35

Spot on Starbucks
I found the comment that Meghan was a "yacht girl" extremely foul, also the shite about she kidnapped Archie.....
Unbelievable !

EmMcK · 19/01/2020 18:43

I think they have done what they needed to do for their sanity and applaud that. I had thought that maybe it was just the media at fault, but frankly the Queen taking Prince Andrew out with her on trip to church disgusts me, and makes me think getting some distance from the family might be a good idea.

fastliving · 19/01/2020 18:46

Previously I wouldn't have had an opinion on H&M (although I am jealous how beautiful she is and how happy they seem together).
But having heard about the spiteful nasty press and seen parts of the spiteful threads on MN I'm really glad they have made the decision they have.
It's a shame it's taken the heat off the perverted price Andrew, but he's never going to have to face the music...if I was part of the royal family I would definitely try and distance myself from all the drama.
I wish them well and hope they have long, happy lives.

shartsi · 19/01/2020 19:03

I am happy for them.
Even when Meghan was pregnant, she was vilified. I was so happy in my first pregnancy and if it had been me on the receiving end of unjustified criticism it would have ruined the experience for me. For that I wish them happiness and hope if they choose to have another baby I hope she gets to calmly touch her bump and eat avocado without Pierce Morgan bullying her.

PortiaCastis · 19/01/2020 19:07

I'm hoping she sues the arse off and ruins that gutter licker morgan ....no he doesn't deserve a capital m

ElderAve · 19/01/2020 19:09

I'm fully supportive of their desire to live a "normal" life and I think it's only right that the state picks up the cost of security, as its only an issue because of their relationship to the head of state.

I think the Queen was right to insist on a clean break, not the half and half arrangement that seemed to be suggested initially. I suspect that's what they wanted anyway.

What I don't understand is all this talk of how they're going to make a living with/without using the royal brand. Harry is a very wealthy man in his own right because of his mother's divorce/estate and he has a private income from his father. Meghan has considerable earning power if she chooses to use it. If they're going to live a normal life, they're already extremely wealthy.

BonnesVacances · 19/01/2020 19:10

Based on the comments I've seen on msm and MN, the only surprise is that they've lasted so long. What kind of fucked up notion says that people are expected to put up with any level of vitriol and made up bullshit? This issue has really brought out the worst in so many people. I'd honestly be ashamed to be any one of them tbh! It's as if H&M have to stick around to be punch bags for people whose own lives must be very unhappy for them to have such negativity.

MM said in the ITV documentary that she expected the media interest, but that she thought it would be fair and truthful. PH said that he has been close to a breakdown several times and his mental health is poor. Yet those who profess to care for their precious PH have wasted no time getting stuck in, twisting the knife and trying to drag them both down. Hmm

HateIsNotGood · 19/01/2020 19:37

I wish them both and their ds very well and I think they are being very fair and undemanding in the agreement they have made with The Royal Family and the Taxpayer. Good Luck H and M.

LittleSweet · 19/01/2020 19:44

Those other threads have a lot of imagination rather than facts. They also demonstrate why they left. Some of the stuff written on there is awful.

Roussette · 19/01/2020 20:27

Agree. What on earth do they want? Him forever tied to the RF putting up with vitriol directed at his wife and at them? Or divorced and desperately unhappy stuck here. And for sure it'll be Archie in time, MM cannot do a thing right in some peoples eyes. Who wouldn't want to protect their family?

littlebillie · 19/01/2020 21:52

I wish them well, it's not really any of our business

squaky · 19/01/2020 22:03

I'm happy for them. I feel for her, leaving her home, being in a strange country, having a baby. And Harry who seems like a kind bloke, watching his wife and feeling like he has to act.

I've cancelled my Times subscription today - Camilla Long in particular writes such vitriol but only at Meghan..

Yes, I have also cancelled mine.

The behaviour of the UK media and many of the posters on here has made me ashamed to be British.

CreekIsRising · 19/01/2020 22:41

I'll be happier when they refuse their £5 million a year.

TooManyPaws · 19/01/2020 23:39

I think he's wanted to leave for years. He said himself that he would have preferred to be out on one of the forward bases in Afghanistan rather than being stared at in Camp Bastion, much happier being called Captain Wales. He seems to have been genuinely popular too. I find it interesting that, apart from childhood friends, many of his friends seem to be people he's met through Sentabale, Walking With The Wounded, and Invictus Games, and the army ones aren't necessarily officers too. Something I read from years ago has stuck - someone saying that in character William was very much a Windsor but Harry was very like his mother. Two people with troubled backgrounds came together, fell in love, vile bullying happened to them and they decided that the life of a senior royal wasn't for them and their child in the light of the horrendous bullying. Good for them and I wish them luck.

Incidentally, William and Kate got a nice quiet time when newly married, living in the countryside as an RAF couple as far away from London as possible, doing their own shopping and cooking, riding around on his motorbike and sneaking in the back of the cinema. When George and Charlotte were newborns and toddlers, they were living in Norfolk with much less press intrusion too. Very different from Meghan and Harry's newlywed days, her pregnancy and Archie's birth.

MsPepperPotts · 20/01/2020 00:00

@TooManyPaws

Totally agree and well said

Frezia · 20/01/2020 00:27

Good on them for making the decision in their family's best interest. Nobody's mental health should be held hostage to a job they don't enjoy doing or a toxic environment. There is no normal way for a child to grow up in the royal family, especially with how they've been treated, and they are very reasonable for wanting to move their baby away from it. I hope things work out for them.

It is sad to see a rift between brothers once so close. I hope once there is some distance between them and they all settle into their new lives, their relationship can be repaired.

I don't mind them one way or the other but I hope they are happy. Like others, I'm surprised Charles or William didn't speak out or support them, really awful behaviour from family members.

I don't get the hate for them, they can't do right for doing wrong.
