Just seeing if there’s any interest. I think they have their faults but I think this may turn out to be a good thing long term. Anyone want to join in?

What's wrong with people FFS !

FairyLightsAreMyCrack · 24/01/2020 12:56

Oh dear, the nasty thread posters are now turning on each other

Well who saw that one coming Grin. I would hope that the posters there feeling bullied or attacked would consider how it feels and improve their own behaviour from now on, but I don't think any of them have that much self awareness.

roundtable · 24/01/2020 13:00

The irony of that thread is that a posters felt another poster had been bullied into leaving the thread. Much like M and H feeling bullied into leaving the country maybe?

It was also asked that posters stop presuming that they know things about other posters Grin You couldn't make it up!

Aridane · 24/01/2020 13:09

@rockingchaircandle

Just had a look at that thread.

So far nothing about MM but all about how you should be banned!

Have reported the thread as a bunfight

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 13:12

@Ariadne

Thanks for the support. Things get vicious quickly when you don't agree with the group. And they really can't see any hypocrisy with crying bullying!

Buggedandconfused · 24/01/2020 13:19

@rockingchaircandle stay here on the nice thread, and leave the nasty brigade to their own miserable infighting 😊

Samcro · 24/01/2020 13:27

@rockingchaircandle you and a couple of others have really been treated badly on that thread. I hope it doesn't get to you.
it does imo prove how bad the bullying is getting. its odd that online bullys are complaining that they are being targeted.
wasn't their a documentary by a girl from little mix about online bullying?

Aridane · 24/01/2020 13:30

Jesy

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 24/01/2020 13:32

No . Boring. We dont know these people. Too much overinvestment in another familys drama

Buggedandconfused · 24/01/2020 14:37

Bump for the happy for M&H thread 😊

Samcro · 24/01/2020 14:59

i hope M&h Take a break, they need it. perhaps then they will be left alone.
I am still wondering what will happen with the RF, will will and kate do more?

lynsey91 · 24/01/2020 17:23

I like Harry and Meghan. To me, she seems really nice and they seem to be very much in love.

I hope they will be happy whatever they decide to do. I also really hope their marriage does last. If it doesn't there will be so much more hatred for Meghan and tons of people saying they knew it wouldn't last despite the fact that something like 45% of marriages end in divorce whether royal or not

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 17:32

Thank you for nice comments!

I agree that the people predicting they'll split seem pretty cruel. Either they do, and they can gloat (and you're right, she'll get the worst of it) or they won't and they'll carry on predicting it anyway and claim it's a sham marriage. How is this entertainment?

PortiaCastis · 24/01/2020 18:30

I think the media have been absolutely kerb licking vile to one woman and they have an awful lot to answer for, wouldn't be surprised if a few more law suits were filed as their agenda is shocking and hateful, sadly they do carry a lot of influence as people believe every article they read without applying critical thinking or humanity therefore impressions are created which probably are wrong

Roussette · 24/01/2020 19:06

@rockingchaircandle

We are singing from the same hymn sheet. No one owns a thread, no posters can refuse to 'allow' others on it by labelling them, and directing others to ignore.

Threads meander in whatever way... it's the nature of a forum.

And someone telling me not to do something makes me want to do it Blush

Roussette · 24/01/2020 19:08

lynsey91 totally agree. There's almost a 'I told you so' on the other thread, because they've gone to Canada.

I wish them a long and happy marriage with little Archie away from he toxicity of the british press. It's our loss and Canada's gain.

Frezia · 24/01/2020 19:53

@lynsey91 Their relationship is under so much pressure already from intrusive media and racist, sexist and generally malicious gossip. I hope they are strong enough to withstand it. The sad thing is if they do break up, haters will gloat that they “told us so” instead of taking a long hard look at themselves and the role they played in breaking up a family.

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 09:20

@Roussette it's good to see other voices of reason on there! It's all very controlling. If you disagree however politely, you're preaching, or a troll, and people aren't allowed to talk to you. Glad I didn't go to school with them!

PortiaCastis · 25/01/2020 09:25

I daren't go on there as what I have to say would get me banned, the truth never goes down well with leeches and bullies though

Samcro · 25/01/2020 09:26

@2rockingchaircandle Did they ever clear your name.
(what are we waiting for??)

GothMummy · 25/01/2020 09:30

I don't really think we should have a publically funded Royal Family at all, and I object to paying for any of them, but on a human level I hope Harry, Meghan, Archie and their dogs are happy and I wish them well.

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 09:33

@samcro nope, totally ignored!

@GothMummy I completely agree. I find the whole institution archaic on one level, but understand why some people will love them. And that they are humans at the end of the day- I can't understand why you would target them...

Roussette · 25/01/2020 09:34

rockingchaircandle I really don't think it's been helped by MNHQ suggesting that if you don't like a post you should scroll on by. That gives the OP and the rest on there carte blanche to ignore those that disagree with the public flogging of H&M, or who try to correct statements dressed up as fact, when they are in fact hearsay or just opinion.
But, hey ho, that to me means you haven't actually got an argument and you aren't necessarily in the right.

LaMarschallin · 25/01/2020 09:39

rockingchaircandle

samcro nope, totally ignored!

Not strictly true.

I'm an occasional dropper-in to that thread and I said I assumed you were referring to "Mean Girls" and posted a link to the appropriate "You can have lunch with us - all week! On Wednesday we wear pink" scene.

Didn't get noticed, I realise, but I tried.

rockingchaircandle · 25/01/2020 09:46

I think my biggest problem is that people who are pulling Meghan and her family apart, and predicting their demise are not doing it in a vacuum. They give lots of justifications; that it is just banter, light-hearted relief, good therapy, they are in the public eye anyway.

But they are in a 2 way relationship with the media. They read about Meghan, and the media know they need to hook people in so they denigrate her. People consume it, they come on forums to threads to bitch, or start posting below the line, they encourage each other and then it all drives traffic back to their news sites/ people buy their papers. So they do it some more and do it worse, people lap it up and the cycle continues.

And it normalises online abuse. While someone did imply any divergence from the anti-Meghan party line on the other thread was coming from FOMs (Friends of Meghan! that was funny!) it is doubtful a mumsnet thread will get back to her. But as well as fuelling the media, it makes it seem more acceptable to abuse well known people (Love Island stars/ Little Mix etc) who will hear, and will be affected. And fuels/ normalises all the day to day online abuse.

Long post, but I do feel it's immoral, and that would cause a massive pile on if I said it on the other thread! But actions have consequences
