Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

She'd be mad to

On yesterday's thread I made some possibly bitchy remarks about MM's hair at the wedding. (I said that surely someone who could command the very best hair stylists could have found someone capable of spraying some Elnett on their hair) and lo and behold! My comment was called out as RACIST.
It is ridiculous to say that is racist. Is it even bitchy? The way I see it you stated a fact , although it wasn't necessary for you to do so.
While I'm about it, I could say the same about Princess Diana's hair on her wedding day (not to mention the screwed up dress).

KatyCarrCan · 17/01/2020 11:29

Hmm, I think hair can be a racist issue. I used to edit a hair magazine for POC. A lack of understanding about the differences between hair types could appear racist.

I wonder if H believes they are moving to get away from the media or if he knows they're actually moving so they can monetise their media?

Yes, but "hair can be a racist issue" does not mean that any comment about hair is racist. I thought the PP's remark about hair was a bit bitchy (a few wisps of hair floating free is the kind of thing that happens to everyone, and she did look very beautiful on her wedding day), but I don't think it was racist.

AutumnRose1 · 17/01/2020 11:41

What on earth was wrong with her hair at the wedding?

derxa · 17/01/2020 11:41

I used to think it was all Meghan now I'm convinced they're both spoiled brats. Starve them of the oxygen of publicity but I fear that will never happen.

KatyCarrCan · 17/01/2020 11:42

user yy I wasn't saying the PP's comment was racist. I was just pointing out that some hair comments can be.

OVienna · 17/01/2020 11:42

The Rebecca English article is really interesting and, I venture, spot on.

Mummy195 · 17/01/2020 11:47

These threads are like Katie Hopkins talking to herself endlessly

Best comment I've seen so far. Hahaha

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/01/2020 11:53

Yes exactly

Out most of today, so placemarking for later ...

Explanation for Meghan not attending the women's shelter itself-

Logistics for the visit to the center itself would have been too difficult, Gibson explained. For one thing the center only allows in ‘women and those who self-identify as women’ so Royal Protection Officers would have had to stay outside, she said.

Am I the only one who can see an easy solution to the Royal Protection Officers not being allowed inside?

yolofish · 17/01/2020 12:08

Her hair was a bit wispy, fair comment. Persnally I liked it (the hair) - if the poster had said 'my god look at the size of that 'fro' that would have been racist (I think? or possibly admiring? I dunno, I'll shut up now).

God knows what Doria is thinking - perhaps just that she has to be around for M as it doesnt seem as if anyone else will be.

TheMustressMhor · 17/01/2020 12:10

@GlitchStitch

The Protection Officers would just have to Self-ID as women and then they would be allowed into what had previously been a safe space for actual woman.

Hoping everyone is OK. I am another republican feeling strangely indignant on behalf of the Queen.

TheMustressMhor · 17/01/2020 12:12

Perhaps just that she has to be around for M as it doesnt seem as if anyone else will be.

I'm not so sure about that. M has a lot of sycophantic supporters in LA, by the sound of things.

My hair on my wedding day ... well it looked like gary Oldman's Dracula - was the first thing I said when I reached the top of the aisle - "i hate my hair look at it!! - I'm bloody Dracula'

yolofish · 17/01/2020 12:13

mustress the supporters won't be around for long IMO. The big gun celebs are not falling over themselves to welcome her I dont think? Must be awful watching a member of your family lighting the blue touch paper and then not actually retiring!

yolofish · 17/01/2020 12:14

spanish I had a short crop and huge blue glasses - Timmy Mallett stylee. why, just why?!

SpanishLady · 17/01/2020 12:16

Timmy mallet - that's s blast from the past

Is he still alive?

TheMustressMhor · 17/01/2020 12:18

I think you're right yolofish and that the MM supporters will fade into the background pretty quickly.

And I have yet to see an A-list sleb make a statement in her favour.

I can’t believe people even notice wispy hair.

I’ve pretty much given up taming my hair because the type of person who notices it is just going to think it looks shit full stop.

There was a thread where someone said it was a shame I don’t make an effort with my appearance due to fear of judgment but that definitely is a thing.

An a non royalist, I feel strangely indignant on behalf of Meghan and Harry.

Froq · 17/01/2020 12:19

Not filling up the previous threads is doing nothing for my OCD.

I’m not ok.

SpanishLady · 17/01/2020 12:19

He is ... and to bring it back to the thread kinda looks like Meghan's first husband (when they were married not now)

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 12:20

Just coming in to say - 'dont worry, I'm ok...'
