Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

Wow.

I blinked and were up to almost 600 on a new thread. It’s very cold out that’s for sure.

I bet PH will hang around for quite some time yet.

I think the cold wind of reality re his marriage may be starting to blow, and he may well be deciding a couple of things. I hope he’s checking in with his bro and dad, and is OK.

It seems impossible to me that a royal baby would be so casually left in the hands of a nanny or bff Jessica Mulroney or whomever...
Makes you wonder...

#where’sArchie...

We’ve seen photos of little hands and little feet and a forehead, for sure, but only one sighting of an entire baby actually moving in South Africa... and then they looked like they’d just picked him up from Amazon and didn’t quite know which end was up. They were really awkward with him.

It’s a puzzle, and a bit of a mess wrapped up inside a storm in a teacup that’s for sure.

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2020 21:09

I doubt she's ditched her mum too , but who knows?

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/01/2020 21:14

Her mum is supposed to be relieved as she feared for Meghans mental health and was very worried about her.

Cindershasoddsocks · 17/01/2020 21:15

She could of taken the statues from madam Tussaud’s

And then everyone would of being okay

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 21:15

That was Carla Gugino. I don't think she was in DA.

You're right!

How have I got Elizabeth McGovern and Carla Gugino mixed up?

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 17/01/2020 21:15

Second dress was Stella McCartney.

TeaNero · 17/01/2020 21:15

It reminds me of an abused wife who finally is free of her demons and can do what she wants now. I'm not suggesting this is the case or anything , but just her actions and her demeanour is the same.

Maybe that's why she posed in a women's centre as a 1st photo op?

FlickingVees · 17/01/2020 21:17

I agree Eugeine’s dresses were fab, and she was my fav bride. She just radiated happiness and excitement.
So sad for her MM couldn’t contain herself with “the announcement” Jesus what a CF. So rude. So, so rude.

Y The cone tits were a bit Madonna, but I think Catherine’s a natural kind of person, so it was just unfortunate the seams weren’t sewn down... I don’t think she was wearing tassels underneath or anything!!!!

Thought Meghan’s dress didn’t fit properly, and looked ready to wear. She was trying too hard for a Carolyn Besette Kennedy look without having her elegance or height.

I think the Queen had MM’s measure when asking why MM needed a white dress and veil... “it’s not like this is her first marriage”. I sense she didn’t approve.
Love that pic where she’s kind of glowering at a simpering MM in the church.
You can’t fool her Maj: she’s seen ‘em all.

TheMustressMhor · 17/01/2020 21:18

I didn't like MM's wedding dress at all.

Sarah Ferguson's was so much classier and more beautiful than Diana's.

Just, for the sake of balance.

roisinagusniamh · 17/01/2020 21:20

Archie is on loan from 'Rentababy'

scaryteacher · 17/01/2020 21:21

Travelled from Cornwall to Kent today and the thread has loads more pages from when I left home this morning.

Eatcakeandgetfat · 17/01/2020 21:21

I’ve been lurking in this thread and have to say I agree with pretty much everything that’s been said.

Something that I would like to know is who is currently paying for megs security? Presumably she has people with her in Canada. Also, who paid for the helicopter ride back to her house? Will they keep their PR team or get rid of them too?

If they want financial independence, give up the titles and piss off. But they won’t because without titles they’re just Harry & Meghan Smith and nobody will give a shit about them. If they gave it all up I would have huge respect for them but as things stand I think they’re a bunch of greedy shits.

I’m also massively offended that the press have labelled the whole friggin country racist. I’m south Asian, 41 and have never experienced racism. There is racism in the UK without a doubt, but not every Tom, dick and Harry is bloody racist!

Rant over! I’m clearly not ok

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 21:26

Eugenie's wedding was lovely. Liked her wedding dress but thought the evening gown was too tight around the bust and didn't like the cape

Liked Kate's dress, but they brought the darts up too high in the bust and it ruined the line imo. Liked her evening gown though, although I think she should have gone for a satin or lace bolero or shrug.

Didn't love Meghan's dress, it relied on the cut being perfect but it didn't fit properly which let it down. Still she oozed sophisticated elegance.

Loved her 2nd dress. She could have worn it as her wedding dress.

Haworthia · 17/01/2020 21:28

I was a huge cheerleader of this pair initially, Not anymore, ditch the titles, pay the country back for Frogmore renovations, continue to properly advocate for your chosen patronages and I may reconsider. Until then H&M, don’t let the door hit you on the carbon emitting flight out.

I’m with you @TheGhostOfEpicPast

I was prepared to think the absolute best of H&M and now... well, I don’t. Ditching Frogmore was the last straw for me. I really thought they were committed to Royal life and work. But to walk away from everything, including the home that had been renovated at massive expense (not to mention the loss of staff) betrays massive levels of selfishness and arrogance.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/01/2020 21:29

I was wondering that about the helicopter, seaplane and security. Also the RF are paying for her bloody nanny and the rent on that huge property I imagine.

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2020 21:30

Meghan has form for ditching things everywhere she goes. Maybe she hated living in a cottage. It didn't fit the fairy tale image did it?

eggandonion · 17/01/2020 21:31

Why did Charles and Camilla have a registry office wedding followed by a blessing (and lovely hat)? I assumed it was because she is divorced. But Harry and Meghan had a full church wedding? Have the rules changed?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 21:34

Are you Ok @Eatcakeandgetfat?

Yes the labeling everyone racist. By AMERICAN tabloids, just hilarious.

Obviously they may try and spin that narrative in Canada as well, so that they can ameliorate the public who might have to fork out their Canadian dollars for their security. They need to spin a sympathetic story that portrays them as victims there.

Well they will be their problem now Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 17/01/2020 21:35

They were both divorced and I guess as heir to the throne and with the public baying for Camilla's blood at the time, a church wedding wasn't thought seemly.
Harry won't be king, so less strict?

bohemia14 · 17/01/2020 21:38

I thought Meghan looked stunning on her wedding day. I saw her dress on display at Windsor Castle; it was very plain but the train was exquisite. She looked absolutely beautiful in the evening. I loved the halter necked dress.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 21:44

The train was absolutely gorgeous, agreed.

Apparently - and i did like this - she had worn a blue dress to their first date and then then had a scrap from that dress stitched into the veil for her 'something blue'

I thought that was genius.

Tell you what, if MM wrote a How to Win Men or How to get a guy to propose in 6 months or some other type of trashy relationship guide it would be a world wide bestseller.

I'd even buy it myself.

crispysausagerolls · 17/01/2020 21:45

Meghan’s dress was ridiculously ill
Fitting! It was shocking!

Kate and Eugenie both looked exquisite I thought. Really beautiful dresses and beautiful brides! No simpering or false doe eyes in sight, just genuine love and happiness, and nerves!

GlorianaCervixia · 17/01/2020 21:47

Eugenie’s wedding dress was beautiful but I didn’t like her second dress. Thought it was very unflattering around the shoulders and bust.

Meghan’s wedding dress wasn’t quite right, it looked too big for her, but she is so beautiful that I think it didn’t matter too much.
