Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

According to the DM an announcement is imminent BUT the issues of security, titles and future finances are yet to be worked out.

So presumably all the "important" issues have been addressed then Hmm.

Tbh I can't believe I'm still invested in this, but it's really a reflection on just how angry I am at the arrogance and entitlement the Sussex's have and continue to display.

I was initially quite sympathetic to the idea of a "deal" being worked out but as the drama unfolds further I frankly think the RF should cut them loose - titles, funding, Grace and favour housing, the lot.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 17:50

@yolofish Blush

Ahhh I meant Kent. Catherine of Aragon stayed there briefly with Henry VIII (I bet he would have liked MM)

Now all this questioning of my motives and intentions has got me quite tearful and upset. I'm currently sitting on the sofa with my baggy jumper on, but I feel I need a baggier one because I look pregnant for all the wrong reasons.....

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/01/2020 17:52

Is Archie okay? That’s what I really want to know. His mother doesn’t seem to be home much.

Lunde · 17/01/2020 17:53

Given the reports of how awful Harry found being "number 2" behind William - I wonder how he going to cope with life being "Mr Meghan Markle"

yolofish · 17/01/2020 17:53

I cant actually get my head around the concept of putting steam up one's fanny. I mean, is it not actually quite painful?

Must check my knowledge of Leeds castle then Catherine because I thought it was a relatively late building? And yes HVIII would have had his paws over MM - she'd have led him a pretty dance though, perhaps as Anne Boleyn did, holding out the main prize? Cannot imagine MM will be executed though. Philippa Carr wrote a brilliant series of historical novels about HVIII and wives - the man was a monster.

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2020 17:58

Meghan has sorted the big things. She's been a busy woman ;
Baggy jumper
Pilates teacher
Flowers / chocs/ for friend who cares for Archie ( all the time)
Phone call to press for her next venture out to pick up new friends in big car.
Warm clothes.
Hmm , oh ., err Harry ! Nearly forgot him in all the excitement.
Must dial in , see if his ok. ( is he ok ? Did anyone ask him ? No ? )

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 18:00

Has she registered the little ‘un for ‘mommy and me music time’ and babyyogalates classes? Has she registered with a new doctor and dentist? Checks their residency status? Registered to tax?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 18:03

Anyway, my feel for things is that a NDA is being concocted as we speak, in return for some financial support either from Madge or Charlie or both.

TBF they'd be mad not to include this in any "settlement". But I truly wonder if it could be enforced if say inside info reaches the Canadian/US tabloids about the REAL life with the Royal confines? Does anyone know?

Any non-disclosure would have to include speaking to 'friends' since they have a penchant for getting their friends to leak their stories.

Frankly they should just play them using Meghan's game. Go no contact, and send the official document of withdrawal of their titles by signed courier.

SallyLovesCheese · 17/01/2020 18:05

yolofish There's a school of thought that suggests Henry VIII suffered a head trauma during a joust (when they thought he'd die) and that led to changes in his personality - Anne Boleyn miscarried a baby boy shortly afterwards and was executed within the year.

So, originally, he supposedly wasn't too bad.

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2020 18:06

Had she ' had the mail redirected'
That's a stressful job and still Royal Mail in the UK I believe?
Where is she living , still renting the place they had over Christmas? Is that ok with the landlord or landlady ? Did they have to give them more money to stay on , or is it free for now? The car is probably a rental I suppose?
So much to do eh?

WineOrGinOrBoth · 17/01/2020 18:07

I would love that CatherineOfAragon

CallmeAngelina · 17/01/2020 18:07

Why are the Palace talking about them "splitting their time between Canada and the UK?"
They moved their dogs over, back in November, ffs. And left Archie there last week. There will be no "splitting" of time. They have left Britain for good and planned this a long time ago. The six weeks "much-needed time as a family" (wouldn't we all like that?) was a very large red herring. Harry may pop back occasionally for carefully selected (by him) events, but I doubt we'll see much, if anything, of Meghan and Archie.
Fuck 'em. I hope the world's media cuts off their oxygen supply and ignores their every move from now on. See how they like them apples.

MurrayTheMonk · 17/01/2020 18:07

Ovienna-of course! You are right!

CatherineofAragonsprayerbook-I hate to say it but I'm team Boleyn all the way... I think she's been misunderstood... I mean it was probably soul crushing being manipulated by all your male family members, being hated by half the court who tried to ostracise you, having to conform to court rules you didn't care about, marrying a man just for the Power, trying to introduce new ideas like religious reforms into the royal family and eventually not thriving, in fact not even surviving... I feel sorry for her...

Oh wait....we've hit on Megz' inspo!

roisinagusniamh · 17/01/2020 18:09

Please answer my tiara question ....does MM still get to select and wear them ?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/01/2020 18:10

Has she registered the little ‘un for ‘mommy and me music time’ and babyyogalates classes? Has she registered with a new doctor and dentist? Checks their residency status? Registered to tax?

It doesn't seem to be her priority at the mo.

I'm confused as to why she's picking up her Pilates instructor from the airport? Are they personal friends? Are there no Pilates instructors nearer...or Youtube vids available? Some very good ones on PopSugar and FitnessBlenders.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 17/01/2020 18:10

Slight deviation but I blame Diana’s family more than the royals her situation as it was their duty to protect her. The RF needed someone for Charles to marry & she was young & beautiful & as Diana was aristocratic thought she’d put up & shut up. Her family wanted the kudos I think.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 17/01/2020 18:11

Everyone ok?

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2020 18:12

The thought of one of Meghan's minions opening the door to sign for a royal official document telling her ' your on your own '!
They won't though. It would add fuel to the fires. They will have to find another way I think.

How about Royalates, a fitness video.

The80sweregreat · 17/01/2020 18:15

Wine, I actually did Pilates last night for a whole hour and I can't walk much today so I'm not OK ! !
I just went up the draughty hall and I'm not mates with the teacher.
I live a low life.
I do own a few baggy jumpers though.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 17/01/2020 18:16

Please answer my tiara question ....does MM still get to select and wear them ?

I suspect even Fergie's chances of this are greater than Meghan's.

Wheresthebeach · 17/01/2020 18:16

According to the DM an announcement is imminent BUT the issues of security, titles and future finances are yet to be worked out.

So what are they going to announce? That H&M hate the UK even more now, then they did last week?

Jeeze.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 18:17

I thought the royals borrowed a lot of their jewels from the queen. I hope she was frisked before she ran away.
