Previous thread

-Today Prince Harry is doing the draw for the Rugby League. (Not sure if it’s a public location but there’s bound to be a lot of press interest)

  • He has said he is going to stay in the UK for a bit longer to thrash out the details of “Megxit”
  • Meghan has been on a second surprise visit in Vancouver
  • Opinion coming out of Canada is that; not only do they not want to fund the Sussexes; having a member of the a Royal Family make Canada their permanent home is not acceptable.

@Alsohuman

Oh I think there’s a lot of truth in that definitely- but He has allowed this narrative to go out there, he has spoken with his own mouth about not wanting to do this stuff anymore. And it feels like he really didn’t stop for one second to think about how that might make the people feel who have been so proud and felt so lucky to have met him, how they now are doubting that interaction, wondering if he really meant the words he said to them or was it all bullshit. Bereaved children he’s spoken with, injured vets etc. That he has allowed that doubt and hurt to become a thing makes me angry.

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 16:30

Fuck all on the scratchcards, I mean.

So DH and I are not OK.

DandyAndFine · 16/01/2020 16:30

Ahem major typo fail in my part.
The Canadian charity Justice For Girls disproportionately affects indigenous girls and those in the Artic regions. I imagine that there is evidence to back this up.

Should be: “Justice for Girls asserts that climate change disproportionately affects indigenous girls...”

I don’t want to libel the charity by implying it is harmful to girls in the Artic region BlushBlush

The engagement ring debacle was the first big red flag.
I've no doubt she's found his family hard going and been upset by the criticism etc etc but she has also done some things wrong and she comes across as fake sometimes ; too try hard at times.
I liked her at first, but I always thought it was a mismatch from the get go and I predicted her struggling to fit in with his family and tensions and so on.

Harry today looked tense in the photos and it's true, we now know he'd rather not be doing engagements for the UK people will be a bit pissed off by him.
His lost a bit of credibility now. Coming back for engagements here will be hard.
She won't even bother I bet.
It is sad really and not helped if people think she was some kind of prisoner too.

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 16:31

But all is not lost in the Mhor household.

DH did bring me a bottle of Co-Op gin, as well as the ill-fated scratchcards.

So maybe TheMustress is ok, after all.

SingingLily · 16/01/2020 16:32

and he hates having to do it

That did give me pause for thought. I'm absolutely sure the RF do sometimes roll their eyes in private and then put on their public face and go out and do their duty. That's the professionalism of it. After all, they'll have days when they're feeling a bit poorly or tired or have too much on their mind. It's only human. However, Harry smiles with his eyes too when he's really enjoying himself. You can see it when he's clowning around, especially with children. I don't think that's faked. I also think he cares genuinely about his work with wounded veterans and the empathy shows in every line of his expression.

Sadly, I think it's because he has so much empathy - and MM seems to have so little - that the current situation has come about. I also think he is suffering now and will continue to suffer for quite a while longer.

That's why I'm glad that the RF are going slowly and carefully with this. They would like Harry back at some point. They have to keep the door open and the light on.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/01/2020 16:33

There he is, smiling, chatting with people, looking interested in what they have to say and what they’ve been doing - except it’s all fake isn’t it, he doesn’t really give a shit about any of it and he hates having to do it.

Could be he's only too glad to have the distraction. Maybe he's realising what life used to be like.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/01/2020 16:34

And he looked smarter today than we've seen him in months.

GoFiguire · 16/01/2020 16:35

Ahem. I’m not OK.

phpolly · 16/01/2020 16:35

anyone think the news today that Prince Andrew will probably lose his security detail is laying the groundwork for taking away H&M's state-funded security as well? Obviously the reason would be different, but it shows that this is possible.

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 16:36

That he has allowed that doubt and hurt to become a thing makes me angry*

Yes.

People who have met him while he was undertaking royal engagements may now be thinking that his sympathy and interest was faked.

To do Harry justice, I do not believe that it was. I really don't.

I think that Harry has been caught up in the swirl of Meghan's demands and thoughts and worldview, and cannot (at the moment) be thinking for himself, rationally and sympathetically.

The whole thing is a clusterfuck of epic proportions.

Rinoachicken · 16/01/2020 16:37

And it makes me sad because I think he did/does actually enjoy this stuff, and I think he’s been talked into believing it’s not worth his time, or that it’s not valued, when actually it is valued hugely by those involved in those charities.

It’s all so sad.

Butterymuffin · 16/01/2020 16:38

This was earlier in the thread but the criticism of how Meghan looked and behaved actually at her wedding seemed to me to be unfair. Someone said

I think Kate was just so incredibly classy at her wedding,

How was Meghan not, on the day itself? The 'should have used Elnet' just seems petty. I'm prepared to be critical of her actions but that sort of comment is a bit crap.

MissEliza · 16/01/2020 16:38

@The80sweregreat what engagement ring debacle?

Rinoachicken · 16/01/2020 16:38

@TheMustressMhor

That’s what I’ve been trying to say but you put it so much better!

Oldbutstillgotit · 16/01/2020 16:38

Just wondering ....if MM was “obsessed” with Princess Diana ( as has been claimed ) how come during her engagement interview she said she didn’t know anything about Harry when she met him ??
Back still not ok if anyone is interested.

The80sweregreat · 16/01/2020 16:39

It's not a bad gig really is it? I wouldn't be up for the sky high heels or fancy clothes but a few engagements here and there can't be that hard as it's all laid on for you. If it's projects you really care about then even better knowing you can make a difference by writing a few letters or turning up to see the real grafters behind it all. Showing support.
Harry always looked at home doing the Invictus games as if he enjoyed it all.
It's sad if that were an act ; he might have been better off staying in the army in some capacity if he hated it all that much? Even just an admin job or behind the scenes.
No wonder people are hurt. I doubt his wife would see that point of view though.

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 16:39

Why are you not OK GoFiguire?

I am sorry to hear it.

SingingLily · 16/01/2020 16:40

GoFiguire, what an oversight! Many apologies.

Are you OK?

DandyAndFine · 16/01/2020 16:40

anyone think the news today that Prince Andrew will probably lose his security detail is laying the groundwork for taking away H&M's state-funded security as well? Obviously the reason would be different, but it shows that this is possible.

@phpolly yes that was my first thought too. I’m glad they’re doing it to Andrew. Despite what some posters pop in to say here, the country hadn’t forgotten about Andrew’s awful actions.

SpinneyHill · 16/01/2020 16:40

None of us know if he has secretly hated it though. He has been reported as saying he would love to get out years before she turned up, and if he had loved it she wouldn't have got very far when someone suggested causing all this chaos, it could well have been him.

The80sweregreat · 16/01/2020 16:41

It was alleged that Meghan had her engagement ring reset with some extra bling added. There was a thread about that but was a long time ago now .

punnetofgrapes · 16/01/2020 16:41

I have always been a huge royalist and was over the moon when they got together but, and sorry if this has been covered before, I am still incensed about PH pimping out MM to the boss of Disney. How bloody dare he!! My DS would very much like to have his GF do some voice over work for Disney and have a huge charitable donation made in her name, he wont get that opportunity.

PH and MM should be thoroughly ashamed of their behaviour. Attack is the best form of defence.

Marry and don't take the titles al la Tindalls don't move the goal posts once you're in the door

eminencegrise · 16/01/2020 16:42

They are beginning to look pathetic.

It's amazing how they have literally been glued to each other for the past two years, he could never be out of her sight, it was as if they couldn't switch on without being plugged in. And now she's dropped him in it to face it all alone. Got the hubby and baby, possibly two, now he's expendable.

TheMustressMhor · 16/01/2020 16:43

It was I who made the "Elnett" comment and I stand by it, actually.

Surely Meghan could have engaged a hair stylist who was capable of making her hair look tidy on her wedding day? It was as though Meghan didn't really care, TBH.
