To think this Is absolute nonsense? Surely the press would be on it ??

I suppose it depends on how he sees his parents marriage issues.

Either

a)bloody hell infidelity wrecks marriages or

b)royals always have mistresses, this is the norm so it should be tolerated without too much of a fuss

We don't know what goes on in people's minds, or their marriages.

Perhaps he feels he doesn't really get on with Kate or perhaps he doesn't have any real respect for her precisely because she waited around limply for so long. People only have one life - it might be because he likes Rose Hanbury far more than he likes Kate, and finds her more attractive. more intelligent, more whatever. Affairs aren't always black and white, far from it.

I don't expect the rumours will go away Curly, for as long as William is continuing the affair.

Maybe he does think all those things but regardless, to choose to have an affair after having seen the effect on his mother that his father’s infidelity had, I doubt he would do it even if he did find another woman more beautiful, interesting etc. It’s one thing thinking it and another thing to do it

This theory doesn’t hold water. Millions of people who have been abused or traumatized in some way turn around to do exactly the same things when they’re older. Whether that’s becoming abusers themselves, becoming cheaters or what have you.

Rose attended an event at Buckingham Palace in June, that William and Kate were at. No way would she have been invited if there was any truth in the rumours.

she was invited long before the rumours were published, can you imagine if her invitation had been cancelled? now that would have spurred the gossips on - and people seem to forget WHO her husband is, and why they were invited in the first place.

I think it's true and I also think many MNetters don't understand that some couples are very pragmatic about infidelity and don't always collapse in sodden, devastated messes over it. Kate was probably pissed off because they were good friends and maybe they were just a bit too obvious. Where there's huge wealth and power I imagine it takes more than an affair to break things up and it's nothing to do with being weak. It's just how you choose to handle your business.

I assumed the affair was over; if it actually happened at all. If William is still playing around, then I am disgusted.
How does work with mental health, early years. If Kate has to grit her teeth and the children have a father who is playing away.
If the Cholmondleys have a marriage of convenience because of the title, that's their business.
If William is playing away after seeing how infidelity destroyed his mother; then he does not deserve to be king.

well, some people do marry for love. Not everybody sees a marriage as a business transaction. Whilst some just asks for respect and keeping up appearances, others are just hurt.

This argument that PW would never cheat because he saw what happened to his parents - first of all, if that was true then no-one who had parents who cheated would ever cheat themselves and that is obviously not true. Lots of people with parents who cheated also cheat. Secondly, we don't actually know how PW saw his parents´ marriage and break-up. There seems to be an assumption that how it played out in the press is exactly what happened. I don't think we know or will ever know what actually happened as that is all in the private lives of the royals. PW might look at the whole thing in a completely different way to what people think. PW seems to be turned into this sort of two-dimensional character who represents all the ethical and moral standards people would like the ideal man to have, rather than an actual person who has flaws, odd opinions and is a product of his upbringing. I don't know if he cheated or not, but I see no reason why he would be more or less likely to than any other man.
