I think Sybil is using a bag correctly today.

Raven and Toad are doing well at catting. Lex, not so much.

Kitty as well - although I think mainly because it’s convenient for spying on the neighbours.

And Gizmo

@Pixiedust1234 thank you - not found a Turkish cat I want to kidnap yet - but the hotel kittens are cute even if their Mum is giving me evils - I am still doing holiday Lego 😉

@JaceLancs , beautiful kittens and mum is very elegant, lovely colouring. Did you take the Lego with you or buy it there? It looks quite fiddly to my sausage-fingered self!

JaceLancs · 28/08/2026 22:02

@Pudmyboy I bought it at the airport to distract me - but had already packed some light weight jigsaws
Its been a strange holiday so far - first there was Finlay then DS has had a car accident (not his fault and no one injured) DP got evacuated from his hotel due to a flood in Birmingham and DD is having health issues on her holiday with DGD

Oh no Jace , strange is certainly one word for it, I hope things improve for your family soon 🫂

Breadcat24 · 29/08/2026 13:25

@JaceLancs what an absolutely crap week you have had

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/08/2026 14:15

I'm sorry Jace it's been horrible for you this last week.

I had two fresh mackerel for breakfast today. DD2 and DS2 went fishing in Loch Fyne.
Linney and Gizmo were very interested when the fish arrived at my house.

I didn't give them any because of the bones and I wanted the fish for myself anyway.

Kitty’s been inspecting the current blanket. Apparently it’s not yet in a state where she’s prepared to sit on it.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/08/2026 08:23

The rescue I got Kitty from, the one that took her in when she was pregnant, is on the verge of closing 😿.

They’ve taken in so many weak & ill kittens over the past couple of weeks that the vet bills, not to mention the food bills, are breaking them.

Too many bastards aren’t bothering to spay their cats & are then abandoning the kittens. And idiots still start threads on how lovely it is that their cat is having babies.

RumNotRun · 30/08/2026 09:30

That's so sad @EmpressaurusKitty The two rescues I supported locally have closed too. One of them had to sell the fantastic massive house they had which was perfect for them but they couldn't afford the increase in mortgage payments plus the vet fees etc. I don't know why the other closed but I think it was due to the two women just feeling overwhelmed.

It must be so hard to know that no matter how much you do to help, there's never enough time, money, or space. I think it should be mandatory to neuter all cats, certainly moggies, unless a vet has said it would be dangerous for their health.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/08/2026 09:45

Me too @RumNotRun.

I still feel a bit guilty for having taken myself of their foster list by adopting Kitty, though I wouldn’t have done anything differently. But having an extra fosterer wouldn’t change what they’re dealing with now.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 30/08/2026 13:05

One of ours closed too, the lady who started it very sadly died last Nov/Dec and as everyone else is a volunteer and the lease on the shop had expired it was just too much for everyone.

MiniPantherOwner · 30/08/2026 13:27

Your blanket is looking beautiful @EmpressaurusKitty It's sad about the rescues closing down.

Defiantly41 · 30/08/2026 15:31

I’m sure I’m 100% preaching to the converted here, but you may be in a position to pass it on. Cats Protection offer a discounted neutering scheme for owners on low incomes or benefits https://www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do/neutering

(I volunteer for them)

Neutering and Spaying | What We Do | Cats Protection

Cats Protection champions neutering as the only effective way to reduce the number of unwanted cats in the UK. Find out about neutering and spaying a cat.

Thank you @Pudmyboy @Breadcat24 @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne
I’m feeling particularly crap today despite 38 degrees and lovely Turkish kitties - being away on my own is far too much brooding time
