So that's another one lost.
Is that five or six on this thread?

I'm going to start the next one soon, I think. There's a jinx on this one.

If you want to do that maybe we could give it a day or two for everyone to discuss the sad news and then all spam the thread with cat photos until it's full. That way people wouldn't keep accidentally restarting the jinxed thread and we could end it on a happier note of an excellent cat photo album. Just a suggestion and only if you want to of course.

CatsonPollock · 30/10/2026 15:46

Oh, more tears @LostCats2 I'm so sorry to hear about Boone. 💐

Broon it's lovely that Gizmo is staying close to you but I know you would be more than happy for him to be busy defiling your duvet and Linney was back in his spot on the sofa💐

LostCats2 · 30/10/2026 15:54

Oh gosh @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about Linney too!
What is happening to our
thread!
And it seems I've missed loads! I am so sorry to everyone who has lost their precious babies.
And I completely agree. This chat understands the terrible hole they leave.

Breadcat24 · 30/10/2026 16:01

@LostCats2 Boone was a very cool cat -sorry

LostCats2 · 30/10/2026 16:12

You guys will understand the grief which others who are very kind, just don't seem to understand.
I also couldn't sleep @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne and now I have lost my appetite. I feel like I'm walking in a mist most of the time. Is this normal?

But @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I am so very sorry about Linney. He was absolutely gorgeous and the perfect foil for Gizmo. Who I hope is doing as ok as he can in the situation.

Poor Eko is lost too. He was so desperate to be friends and Boone was never having any of that rubbish. And then last week they finally slept with their bums touching! I think Boone really enjoyed it and surprised himself. But was back to usual service immediately afterwards.
The kittens who are bonded, just think Eko is another cuddle buddy so they keep walking up to him and rubbing his face. He has no clue how to cope or what to do with this situation. I think we'll find a kitten, BIG kitten puddle very soon.

The Cat Distribution Service works in very strange ways. I had just assumed a baby would come into our garden like happens to other people, but DD went to Java Whiskers and met Leaf who she came home and said she really wanted. And I said yes - I have no idea why. Jim came as part of the deal due to the bond, but he is total madness. He has dug the carpet to the floorboards and had a bad tummy for a bit and weed all over my favourite couch (which the family hates) before I realised, so now I need a new couch AND new flooring. He is so lucky he chose me so I love him most. But if we hadn't got them before Boone went over the bridge, there is no way I'd have the space in my heart for another cat for a long time.

Allergictoironing · 30/10/2026 16:18

Yes please can we fill this cursed thread quickly & get it gone - or maybe MN will close it early for us if we beg and plead?

It has to be closed before next Thursday - Tobias is having his next steroid injection and weigh in then, and I'm dreading it. His appetite is up as expected on steroids but despite that and Fortiflora his poo is still liquid so looks like neither is helping.

I have 4 kitties for the next few days - Annie has gone to Scotland to get another of the nephews off her hands and married, so twice daily visits to her pair are required for feeding, litter tray cleaning, and play if requested. So I've taken 4 working days off starting yesterday (they went this morning, back on Monday). I have perfect nephews - this one especially chose Halloween to get married on!

Defiantlynot41 · 30/10/2026 16:21

@LostCats2so sorry to hear about Boone. The cat distribution system does indeed work in mysterious ways.

Broon, how lovely to see two rainbows for the lovely Linney.

hugs and purrs to everyone who has lost their soulmate, this thread is always such a comfort from people who really know

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/10/2026 16:29

Very sorry to hear about Boone too @LostCats2 💐. Clearly another truly excellent cat.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/10/2026 16:40

Okay.
I'm starting the new one tomorrow.
Then we can abandon this one.
I'll ask MN to close it.

That's actually a good idea.
People need time to respond to @LostCats2 so I'm going to wait until tomorrow afternoon then start the new one.

I've never known such a sad, sad thread.
Yes, we expect a death every now and again...... but not all these, one after another.

So sorry about Boone @LostCats2.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/10/2026 17:09

I’m sorry too, @LostCats2. For you and Eko.

Pudmyboy · 30/10/2026 17:51

So sorry @LostCats2 , though that last morning with Boone sounded special ❤️, I hope it brings you comfort in future to remember it.
Because this thread has now sadly become a sort of grieving place, I will say that on the last morning of my late Pud's life, whilst waiting for the vet to come to the house, I carried him outside for a last sniff and sight of the garden that was his manor for so long. I intend to bury his ashes in his favourite basking spot, and think that I may be ready to do that next Spring.
Hugs to everyone here whether you like it or not, because we have all lost a furry loved one.
And special hugs for everyone who has lost their cat recently 🫂

LostCats2 · 30/10/2026 17:54

Thank you all so much. I really appreciate it. Especially because I know you all really understand the loss ❤

The 2 kittens have just been neutered so they have cones of shame. Except they aren't cones of shame. They've both got the bee cone that Toddler used on Penelope. DH says Leaf walks into the room and strikes a pose as he is so pleased with his outfit 😁

Kirova · 30/10/2026 18:21

@LostCats2 I don't think we've crossed paths a lot - child and full-time job make me a bit sporadic on these threads - but I'm so sorry about Boone. He sounds like a special cat.

A happier cat story. My friend is fostering a mum and kittens - mum was pregnant when she arrived (and still a kitten herself, probably only 6 months) and somehow produced 5. Sadly, they weren't very robust and she struggled to feed them. Despite everyone's best efforts, one of them died in the first few weeks and another a few weeks later.

We were very worried about a third because he was teeny tiny and wouldn't really feed. But we eventually discovered that if we put him on top of a warm surface and offered fingers dipped in formula milk and kitten pate, he'd work up an appetite to eat by himself.

Now, he's not exactly thriving (he's still very dinky) but he's alive and well and very bright and active. Here he is, on the right, with his brother and sister. Honestly seems like a miracle as I was almost sure he was going to just fade away...

Yes. This is the place to get support because everyone does understand.
I think it's likely that every one of us has had at least one cat who has died.

MiniPantherOwner · 30/10/2026 18:57

Unlike most people on here Matilda and Boris are my first ever cats. I agree that if you haven't been in the position of losing a cat you can never truly understand what it is like, although I sympathise of course. I'm glad there's so much support on this thread for everyone who has had a sad loss recently.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/10/2026 19:35

Kitty’s the first cat I’ve owned, all my others were fosters so I don’t know what it’s like yet. But as @MiniPantherOwner says, I sympathise.

JoanOgden · 30/10/2026 20:48

I'm so sorry to hear about Boone, LostCats. I too have been through this recently and it's miserable. Do share some photos if you can, of Boone and your new kittens.

I am very glad to read Kirova's happier story and see her photo of the thriving little terrors!

I don't think Fergus has an unhappy bone in his body. Although he does look a bit stoned in those last pictures - did he overdose on catnip? 😂
