I'm just trying to catch up with the thread as I've been too busy to check in for a while, and I was so sad to hear about Finlay @JaceLancs. He was such a gorgeous boy with his velvety grey fur and I always looked forward to seeing pictures of him. He loved to roam and had big horizons and a wild spirit, and you gave him the best possible life by letting him have that freedom. But losing a cat to the road is a horrible shock (we lost two childhood cats that way) and to have it happen while you're on your way to a holiday is particularly awful.

I got back from Norway yesterday & Kitty woke me about half an hour ago to tell me how pleased she was, which was nice of her.

They are doing fine thanks @EmpressaurusKitty. We have had a few issues with a black cat I haven’t seen before who is trying to claim our garden, and is so bold that he actually chased ours into the house and came inside when we left the doors open in the warm weather. Stripey is quite fierce when the doors are safely closed and will hurl herself at the glass and lash her tail at him.

Stripey has got braver about exploring the garden this summer and likes being out in the evenings, but she is so fast that catching her outside to make her learn use the cat flap is tricky. We managed once when the wind blew the door closed and Stripey immediately crouched down on the patio in a sad ball and miaowed constantly - I went round the other side and picked her up and posted her through the flap (normally she would just struggle and get away, but she was so traumatised that she let me do it).

I’m glad she’s enjoying the garden - much more fun than hiding behind the piano!

Now that's a heart warming sight! Not Gismo on the bed particularly (though that is cute), but a very large filled bookshelf in the background!

Kitty slept next to me on the pillows for the first time last night. Lots of purring in my ear.

Our cats have always been bookworms. This was the first place they went when they first arrived as kittens.

Love the way one kitten is sitting on an Egyptian grammar book. Clearly a reminder that cats should be treated as Gods 😺

The NMC was back again yowling at our cats through the patio doors at 4am so loudly that it woke me up. Managed to spray in its vicinity with a water pistol, but I'm not sure if there are other things I can do to make our garden a little less appealing.

And talking of Gizmo, you may remember that the man who fed him sardines and dogfood died recently.
This left a sheltered housing bungalow untenanted.

The warden was showing someone round it the other day, and Gizmo seized his chance to get in, no doubt hoping for a resumption of victuals.

The prospective tenant asked if the cat came with the property. If he likes cats, well and good. Gizmo will simply transfer his affections, as long as sardines are still on the menu.

Raven and Toad have been sharing one of the window beds recently. This afternoon she was on top of him. Poor Toad, Raven isn't the most delicate of cats.

He hasn’t got her wonky white nose though.

All of the "on top bit" belong to Miss Chunky. All of the flattened bits, including the head that has a paw holding it down, belong to my poor Toad. To be honest, he didn't seem to care. He likes snuggling up with the other cats, whether they like it or not.

Just been catching up as I have been busy and have not had much time to go on here (work, life in general etc!)
Lovely to see/hear what all the cats are up to, but I am so so sorry to hear about Finlay @JaceLancs - will miss seeing his beautiful pictures.
Herbie is the same as ever-he has adopted DDs place at the dinner table as she's hardly ever at home these days. He sits up at the table while we have dinner, and often sits on the table itself. I call him the "Bisto cat" because he is constantly sniffing with his nose in the air to see if it's something he'd like!

I came home from holiday today - went to vets and paid for cremation, sorted out insurance and pet subscription, collected his memories and had a little weepy moment in the car outside
Went to Tesco shopping tonight and just as I was going through the checkout thought to
myself ‘oh I wonder if Finn will be in when I get home…..’ then remembered - it’s all very raw still
However I did put out a feeler today for a boy kitten called Percy who has been returned to breeder as it turned out new owners DC was severely allergic - watch this space
