I know someone with a catflap that stops her cat bringing prey in but I don’t know what brand it is. She seems happy with it though, I can ask if you like @Breadcat24?

@Pudmyboy Thanks for asking. It is an add on to your existing microchip catflap- a sort of camera thing with an AI algorithm that scan the cat's face and if it has prey in its mouth stops it opening. Not infallible - there was an amusing thread on here a few weeks back where the cat was smart enough to drop it then when it opened hold it with a paw and pick the mouse back up again!
It is pricey though and need a mains power connection outside (USB C) £200
I did look at the Onlycat but that is £499!!!!

We would only put it on one catflap so would have to lock the other one at night

By the way the mouse survived and was released under the shed where she could not get at it- but I do not think it enjoyed the experience.

This was definitely a mouse- brown and about 6cm long - not those bigger beasties we had earlier in the year.
This means unfortunately we will not be able to feed the birds this year unless we can find something that does not drop on the floor (advice on that also gratefully received)

Argh I polished the sitting room table with orange oil, only for Linney to come in after a rainstorm and deposit wet paw prints all over it.

She says it’s the Onlycat, @Breadcat24, & that so far it hasn’t occurred to her cat to try dragging the prey in afterwards.

Although I think the idea’s got her a bit worried now.

I’m in Norway, not seen any Norwegian Forest Cats yet but still hoping. I was a bit worried because Kitty’s usual sitter’s moved & a bloke from the rescue is visiting her instead - full confidence in him but I was concerned that she might be nervous.

Nope. She’s pulling exactly the same tricks she used on her previous sitter to get a big fuss & extra Dreamies 😼.

Oh yes. You see, when the sitter first comes round & I’m here, you hide under the sofa so that they think of you as nervous.

Then on the sitter’s first solo visit, you give them a nice surprise by meeting them at the door & being friendly, so they give you strokes & treats.

On the next visit you hide under the sofa again, so they give you more treats to persuade you to come out….

Well tonight Toad ate a giant spider. I did feel a bit guilty cause the spider was probably only looking for a partner but it was zig zagging around the room and ended up catching Toad's attention so sadly it lost its life. Toad looked v pleased with himself.

On a less disgusting note, Raven just let me clip all her claws with no hissing, struggling, and only one grumble at the end. Such a good girl. She's also had a lot of brushing which she loves so I think I got her nice and relaxed before the nail clip.

Boris decided to do this today. On the one hand I'm pleased he's drinking some water for a change, on the other I'm wondering how many drinks I might have inadvertently shared with him. I might just start drinking out the cat water bowl instead, neither of them ever touch it. 😂
