We think FC3 was used for mass kitten production, probably because of her being ginger. I dread to think how many litters she had - the vet said many when she was spayed.

Poor, poor girl. My Kitty was five & pregnant when rescued - I think she’s bloody lucky to be as healthy as she is.

And people don’t understand why some of us get so angry on threads where some idiot hasn’t had the sense to spay their cat.

It's just horrible - when she first came, you could tell that she was really quite traumatised. She was terrified of people and other cats. But she's now honestly the purriest cat I've ever known. She purrs as soon as you stroke her head (or open the lick-e-lix box) and likes to lie on top of me in the morning purring like a Boeing 747 about to take off.

Did you know Kitty's exact age? We don't know for Edith (FC3) but the rescue thought about 3 and the vet said similar.

Kitty was chipped. Apparently she belonged to a local pub where they used her for ratting. It closed down & they abandoned her 😡. She was 7 in March.

I knew Ginger females were rare but turns out more common than I thought! Also that torties are always female

@Kirova what a lovely if unintended ending to your cat fostering, how do FC 1and 2 get on? Keep themselves separate or joining in?

FC1 has her forever home next door, but she's a regular visitor. The three of them like to hang out together, although it took a while for FC1 and FC3 to get accustomed to everyone. FC4 is a little ray of sunshine who is convinced that all people and cats adore him - even when there is evidence to the contrary.

FC2 lives a bit further away (with a good friend) so he doesn't get to join in, but I see him quite often. He also has a little sister now - a girl cat who was adopted from the same rescue.

Poor FC3 and Kitty having to have so many litters of kittens. I didn't realise the beautiful elegant kitty had been a ratter in a pub! I'm glad she gets to live her current life as a sophisticated cat with a dedicated owner. I'm sure big ginger girl will have a similar experience and I hope we get to see some more photos of her living her best life with her new kitten friend.

I'm glad I'm not the only one nerdy enough about statistics to look this sort of stuff up. 😃Only cats with a chromosomal abnormality would be able to appear male, but have two x chromosomes. I remember someone on the litter tray had a thread about her cat that had been living with her elderly neighbour, but had been returned to her. He was a very handsome tortie boy, who sadly had to be put down (because he was old, not due to being a male tortie). It caused a bit of confusion, as to how he could be male if I remember correctly.

It’s hard to imagine my girl as a ratter, @MiniPantherOwner! She’s living her best life now, anyway.

What’s FC4 called, @Kirova?

She is so beautiful, @EmpressaurusKitty. Lucky girl, that she gets to live with you instead of being a ratter in a pub! She's definitely made for better things than that.

FC4 is Nico, short for Nicholas (in case he becomes big and serious when he grows up). I got to name him - Edith came with her name.

A local rescue posted a gorgeous cat today whose owner can no longer keep her. I've messaged them to see if she can live with other cats so fingers crossed!

Well sadly Mihlia (the fluffy grey cat) has never been around other cats so they think she'd be better going to a single cat household which is fair enough. The poor girl has probably been through enough after being given away by her owner, and Toad may be too exuberant for her! I'm sure it won't be long before she finds a perfect home.

I have messaged a place I have adopted from many times in the past. I've explained the situation and said that whilst I'm not really actively looking everywhere, if they have a cat they think would be a good fit, then please let me know. They were the ones who gave me Fred and Frankie, and always seem to be able to pick the right cats for me. They're run as a sanctuary now rather than a rehoming place, but do still get cats to adopt.

Fingers crossed that Mihlia finds a new home soon.
On the subject of fluffy grey cats - today Sybil has annexed a washing up basin.

I saw a photo somewhere recently of a cat curled up in a saucepan.

One of my first cats used to like sleeping in a casserole dish under my bed. My kitchen was in the process of being fitted which is why the "catterole" dish was there. He was most annoyed when the kitchen was finished and his bed was taken away.

You didn’t leave it there for him & get a new one to cook with???
