Ah yes Grumpy, I saw that and immediately wanted one, but had to remind myself that, though it scores 100 on the cuteness scale, it is a wild and wonderful predator, so not suited for a domestic environment, sadly.
Excellent news though!

Ghostie was PTS this morning. She was fine yesterday, eating, drinking, escaping out the front 🙂 In the evening she started sleeping in her litter tray, only had a little bit of her Lick-e-lix. This morning I got up and she was still crouched in the tray, shouted at me when I picked her up, and ran straight back to the tray when I put her down by food. I took her to the vet. Her temperature was low but they couldn't work out what was wrong. They admitted her, did a scan and there was nothing concerning, but they couldn't take her blood to run tests as she got very distressed and that wasn't good. They called me and said she had been in their heat box but was struggling to maintain her temperature and they didn't know what was wrong but we're worried it was something serious and they didn't think fluids and staying in the heat box would fix her.

I feel cursed and like a terrible cat guardian. Part of me knows it's kinder to PTS rather than make the cats endure endless tests that probably won't be of benefit, but then I think am I taking the easy way out? What if she (and the others) could have got better after IV drips etc.

Anyway, to my beautiful tripod, rest in peace.x

So sorry @RumNotRun , what devastating and unexpected news, Ghostie will be missed on the Litter Tray but the saying holds: better a week too early than a day too late.

@RumNotRun So sorry- poor Ghostie she was such a trouper with here 3 legs. I remember asking you how many cats you had after you said you were allergic to them and you said something like 5 3/4. Hug all your cats

So sorry to hear that. It's such a shock when one of the cats goes downhill that quickly.
You know you've done the right thing for Ghostie - look after yourselves, and my commiserations. 💐

Another one here mourning Ghostie with you. 💐There's absolutely nothing to beat yourself up about - your cats are/have been the most excellent cats with the most excellent lives.

Don't feel guilty. It sounds like she was extremely ill. You did absolutely the kindest, best thing for her.

Raven is the only female cat left now and appears be enjoying her status as sole matriarch. So far she has hidden several times, but comes running at the sound of cat food pouches or Dreamies. I think she's worked out that due to yesterday, I want the other cats near me so if she hides then I'll use treats to lure her out. So far this morning she's done it twice so they've all had Dreamies and extra food in the form of Felix pouches. She's a clever little monster.

I'm ok, sad of course, but Raven and I had lovely cuddles earlier which was the first time in a while.

Hope people don’t think I’m heartless but for some reason this time I felt ready to get a new kitten much sooner than I’ve done before
Also helps that we have no holidays planned and a few quiet weeks to socialise them including both DS and I taking turns to WFH

Oh @JaceLancs what an adorable little chunk!!! Where did you get him? I don't think you're heartless at all. In fact if you'd said no to Probably Fergus, I'd be more concerned! I've been looking at some rescue pages and have seen a three legged black cat called Hades. I have asked if he will be available (he's only just had his operation) as I feel he'd be a perfect addition.

I know people say about cats being able to summon portals but I think in Raven's case at least it may be true. I've been trying to discover her hiding place so I was watching her as she was sitting on the arm of the sofa, by the lounge door. She jumped down and 30 seconds later I followed. No sign of her anywhere in any of the rooms. How can she have vanished so quickly! I looked under things, behind things, on top of things. She has disappeared!
