A jam doughnut!

UnDeuxTwuh · 23/05/2026 03:11

My cat once licked half the frosting off a home-made chocolate log cake which I’d put on a serving plate ready for Christmas dinner, on a shelf she definitely couldn’t get to.

I have never known a cat like chocolate as much as her!

She also really likes Walkers crisps.

TheCurious0range · 23/05/2026 03:12

An earbud

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 23/05/2026 06:16

My old cats used to love cake, any cake. And curry. And Pringles. My current cat I tried her with pepperami thinking she wouldn’t like it but oh no she loved it!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 23/05/2026 06:21

My friend’s Tonkinese cats regularly steal hot toast from the toaster, butter and most recently her husband’s pasta meal. Anything which is left out they will eat it. Probably less so fruit and veg. They probably eat more but I haven’t asked.

My old cats used to like pheasant which occasionally a friend would bring back from where his dad worked on a shoot. You’d think it would be too gamey but no, they liked it. Once as well there was a plastic deli tub which had olives with some sort of herb oil residue inside, whatever it was they both went mad for it, licking it (the tub) and going bonkers.

I need to hide shop-bought pancakes or he rips open the packaging to get to them! He also can’t resist tomato soup - found this out when my youngest left his bowl on the worktop above the dishwasher!

baublegirl353 · 23/05/2026 06:44

Avocado - I have a pic but it won’t let me post it

🤣. Actually I admire their little ways to get banned food. My cat doesn’t do that.

My old cat whenever I had roast chicken would sit nicely next to me and wait so politely for me to give him a bit of chicken breast which he then delicately ate. Bless him. My current cat loves fish but also cheese sauce, I can put some in a bowl or on my fingertip to lick off and she loves it. Yes I know they’re not meant to have dairy really. Another old cat once I saw her from the kitchen window munching on a mouse and looking at me whilst eating it, like something out of Silence of the Lambs. I’d never seen her eat a mouse before, yes I know cats do eat them. My childhood cat ate rats and would leave the paws in a neat pile. Those (the paws) obviously weren’t palatable. Yes he was also fed! I think it is taurine in them that they like.

shellyleppard · 23/05/2026 06:50

My old cat once pinched the leftover Sunday beef joint.... spent ages trying to get it back!! 🤣🤣 After that all leftovers were cat proofed..... covered with a colander and a saucepan on top!!

BlueRidgeMountain · 23/05/2026 07:31

DCat loves to munch on nerf darts. We had to restrict nerf gun use to the garage and ban her from getting in.

SparklyGlitterballs · 23/05/2026 07:42

It was something she licked rather than ate. My childhood home backed on to my primary school playing field. One of the girls in my class had a skin condition, probably eczema or something. She would have this pink liquid, most likely calamine lotion, on cotton wool that she dabbed on her skin to calm it. We'd gone onto the field for PE and the girl left her pink cotton wool to the side. My cat had ventured over the fence to the field and was having a good lick of whatever was on it. Kitty was absolutely fine, but I still clearly remember all my classmates saying "oh, your cats going to die now" 🥺

Myblueclematis · 23/05/2026 07:56

The iced centres of some fairy cakes I had baked and also the cherry on top.

I know full well if I'd put that in his dish he would have walked off and not touched it but they were on the worktop as my mum and dad were due round for tea and cakes and despite not being allowed up there, they were obviously hard to resist investigating.

Also anything minty, toothpaste, After Eight mints, he would lick and drool over Polo mints and shredded and dribbled over the best part of a packet of Consulate menthol cigarettes my friend left in her bag on the floor when she still smoked.

He was a real character, never had another cat quite like him.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/05/2026 09:16

Old cat ate multiple plastic bags. He also chomped through a friend’s cigarettes he stole from her handbag.

New cat, jacket potatoes, toast, cake, butter, coffee (yes I know it’s toxic)

This boy is game for anything. When we adopted him he regularly tipped the food waste caddy over during the night and scavenged leftovers - he’d been a stray kitten. He’s much better now but things resting on the side need careful monitoring, and he particularly loves sausages and sausage rolls.

my ginger ate tinsel i didn't realize till threw it up glittery. I will be making sure its on the ceiling only in future, daft orange brained loony

Flannelfeet · 23/05/2026 09:44

I once cooked a pork joint for sunday dinner and had it resting on the side. I decided to take my daughter out a walk in her pram and as husband was home i thought the pork would be safe on his watch...nope, i came back and there was nala in the middle of the kitchen floor loving her delicious pork.

I was really looking forward to it 😔. Ended up with roast chicken that Sunday as I couldn't get another pork joint.

Our microwave is known as The Cat Safe in our house. It's the only place we can leave food to cool safely.
Toasty Boy Cat has eaten half a squirrel in the past...and left the other half as a "gift".

Yeah I have had to buy another food waste caddy as he treated it like one of his food puzzles

he’s never been stray either!

My childhood cat ate all the jalapeño peppers off a Dominos pizza once! We caught her eating the last one and she didn’t even flinch 😂

snowymarbles · 23/05/2026 11:42

We had a stray coming in for a while and he would rip open packets of bread / bagels. I guess because it was the only thing out he could get too.

That definitely sounds like something mine would do Grin

My previous cat would eat anything and everything if he could. He was a greedy bugger 🤣🤣🤣 he used to love prawn crackers and he would sit waiting for one lol!

My latest cat shares our fish with us from the fish and chip shop lol.

Hallywally · 23/05/2026 12:14

Both of my cats are extremely fussy with food but both will wolf down various flies/insects if they catch them (neither are very good hunters). I could understand them enjoying a juicy rodent or bird if they ever caught one, but flies etc don’t seem particularly tasty!

Hallywally · 23/05/2026 12:15

@Judystilldreamsofhorses that pic is amazing! You can just see your cat plotting! 😂

Toddlerteaplease · 23/05/2026 12:20

The late Maia liked quality street wrappers. Before they went to the boring dull ones. I chased her round the house several times, and had to pull them out of her mouth covered in slobber.
