......... and try to break into the film industry.

It'll be an unlikely success as they'll have to stay awake for long periods while filming goes on.

Well. Unless they decide to make Carry On Sleeping.

I don't know how you managed to do this nine times, @EmpressaurusKitty. But considering cats have nine lives, it's a very appropriate number!

I wouldn’t say any of the goodbyes were exactly easy, but some were harder than others!

I agree about being realistic about what you can & can’t handle though.

LlynTegid · 28/02/2026 15:13

Not my cat but still should be introduced to you all.

We love NMCs, @LlynTegid!

I spent the morning leafleting the local area because our cat rescue is having a sale at the local community next Saturday, & saw several NMCs as well as hearing quite a few NMDs!

Since we’re going to have lots of stuff for both cats and dogs, I’m hoping that means their owners will decide to come.

@blackcatclub25 Shady looks gorgeous. You have done well to get him down to that weight. You cannot starve the poor puss

Allergictoironing · 28/02/2026 18:31

@blackcatclub25 He looks perfect to me! He is a very big (and gorgeous) boy as we all know, and under 7kg seems reasonable to me. Boycat was just over 6kg before he fell ill and was considered just right by the vet, and he was of a very lean build much narrower in the shoulders and hips than darling Shady is.

Plus I don't know what your supposed to do about getting any more weight off him with his fussiness with food dietary preferences and needs.

I’ve got a question.

Kitty’s going to be 7 at the end of March, she seems happy & healthy & so far I’ve just been taking her to the vet every August for her booster jabs.

Should I start taking her for a checkup every 6 months?

Girlcat is just coming up for 11 now, and she goes once a year. Vet sees no reason for her to go more often unless I thing something isn't right, and she only needs those visits because a) she needs her jabs to reduce any chance of getting anything to pass on to Tobias, b) they won't give spot on without weight checks now & again and c) because I think it's only sensible for her to have an MoT and I'm paranoid.

Does shady look fat? He’s gone from 7.7kg to 6.9kg, the vets are saying they want him around 5.7kg
however they’re also saying I can’t reduce his food any more or he won’t be getting the right nutrition so…

he will eat one brand of wet food and doesn’t get any dry due to cystitis. 2 x 85g tins a day
bearing in mind he’s twice the length and height of most cats!

Not to me, no!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/02/2026 21:20

Shady, as always, looks perfect.

Sorry I've been awol again. Benny was seemingly hit by a car last night 😭 He came home having been out for about 20 minutes, walking funny, breathing fast through his mouth. He has a diaphragmatic hernia and is at the emergency vets for surgery if he's stable enough. It's not good. Please keep him in your thoughts x

@coastergirl so sorry to hear this sad news best wishes to the beautiful Benny

Defiantly41 · 01/03/2026 09:45

@EmpressaurusKitty Miss B is now on 6-monthly vet checks because of the meds for her hyperthyroid (she is on the very max dose possible), has been like this since increasing the dose to this level a couple of years ago, so when she was 16 or 17. Before that annual checks.

@coastergirl sending all love to you and Benny, hope he is ok

@blackcatclub25 Shady is a darling, perfectly proportioned. Most of my cats have bulked up a little in winter and slimmed down slightly as the weather improves and they spend more time outdoors too.

Allergictoironing · 01/03/2026 09:48

Oh poor Benny! And poor you @coastergirl . Thoughts and wishes they can operate soon and it goes well.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/03/2026 09:50

Oh no, darling Benny.
Lots of love to him and to @coastergirl

KeziaOAP · 01/03/2026 11:24

coastergirl so sorry to hear about Benny fingers crossed for a good recovery.

coastergirl · 01/03/2026 12:23

Thank you all so much. The vets called first thing this morning. They were able to operate overnight. It was difficult. He has 3 tears in his diaphragm 😭 and his abdominal organs were up in his chest, causing his breathing difficulties. They've repaired his diaphragm as best they can and when they called this morning they were quite pleased with him. Last night they were really quite pessimistic and said that quite a lot of cats come through the surgery but don't recover, but he's doing well so far.

Breadcat24 · 01/03/2026 12:29

@coastergirl Thank you for the update. Well done Benny, Well done to vet and well done you you must be frantic. Benny is a young strong well cared for boy he has all that on his side. Wishing you lots of love

CatsonPollock · 01/03/2026 13:02
