......... and try to break into the film industry.

It'll be an unlikely success as they'll have to stay awake for long periods while filming goes on.

Well. Unless they decide to make Carry On Sleeping.

@LostCats2 It's a black cat weighted plushie, it's so snuggly. I've been a bad cat slave and stolen it from Fred as I am away for a few days and, in the absence of a real cat, a fake one will have to do.

I do have an excellent NMD companion though, although she's not allowed in the bedrooms.

First mouse of the season left on the dining room floor this morning. Herbie showed no interest in it when I questioned him.

It's disgusting you are automatically blaming that beautiful bundle of innocence. Personally I would be turning my gaze towards H or DC first especially if you've been wanting chores to be done.

Poor little Herbie 😕

Pianoaholic · 28/02/2026 11:01

😅 Herbie thanks you for your misplaced belief in him!
To be honest we're not so bothered by the mice, it's the huge pigeons he brings in which are more of an issue.
Maybe it's time to invest in a more sophisticated catflap now.

Did he go "NO COMMENT" throughout his police interview?

Gizmo got into the bathroom again this morning, to his great delight.

Maybe he wants to borrow my make up.

I’ve got a question.

Kitty’s going to be 7 at the end of March, she seems happy & healthy & so far I’ve just been taking her to the vet every August for her booster jabs.

Should I start taking her for a checkup every 6 months?

I have never done this.
All my cats go once a year and when required in between.
Had Kitty got any health conditions?

Kirova · 28/02/2026 12:32

My dad's cat (also a rescue) has always just gone once a year. He's 14 now but still very healthy, and the vet hasn't recommended he should go more often.

(The local bird population would probably like him to become less fit and healthy, as the death rate is quite high.)

EmpressaurusKitty · 28/02/2026 12:49

Ok, this is good. Kitty’s supposed to have a sensitive stomach but nothing else.

I got catnapped today he isnt clawing me he fell asleep cuddling my hand snoring and all my ash was he was jealous because I was sat next to ds3 who also fell asleep!

Sometimes my late Pud uses to grip my forearm, so firmly that I could have lifted him up. It's a lovely feeling 😻😻

Agreed with others above. I tend to believe that we, the excellent cat owners, will spot anything that might indicate the need for a vet visit so an annual MOT is fine.

FC1 "found" a lost cat last night.

To be more accurate, poor lost cat (super fluffy and easily twice the size of FC1) came into her garden and she backed him into a corner, hissing and growling. But at least the owners were then able to retrieve him! So she now has their undying gratitude.

Meanwhile, FC2 has been cleared for adoption! Selfishly, I'm hoping it won't happen too quickly.

Kitty was my 9th foster. See if you can beat me, @Kirova!

Kirova · 28/02/2026 13:51

I know they already have another one lined up for me. A tabby and white girl, about 2, but she has health issues. If it turns out to be something untreatable, it'll be a case of giving her somewhere nice and safe and comfortable for her last few months. If (fingers crossed) it's treatable, getting her back to full health and ready for a forever home.

I'm dithering though. I don't know if DD or I will be able to handle it, especially if we get really attached and she turns out to only have a few good months left.

Kirova · 28/02/2026 13:52

I don't know how you managed to do this nine times, @EmpressaurusKitty. But considering cats have nine lives, it's a very appropriate number!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/02/2026 14:58

My NMK Hamish finally went outside for the first time.
He was deeply unimpressed when a seagull came too near, and immediately went back inside.

Hamish lasted ten seconds in the great outdoors.
🤣

Does shady look fat? He’s gone from 7.7kg to 6.9kg, the vets are saying they want him around 5.7kg
however they’re also saying I can’t reduce his food any more or he won’t be getting the right nutrition so…

he will eat one brand of wet food and doesn’t get any dry due to cystitis. 2 x 85g tins a day
bearing in mind he’s twice the length and height of most cats!
