......... and try to break into the film industry.

It'll be an unlikely success as they'll have to stay awake for long periods while filming goes on.

Well. Unless they decide to make Carry On Sleeping.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcatsyou have a live action version of Sylvester and Tweetie Pie at your house!

@learieonthewildmoor Don't worry, he embraces his possum looks. That's his nickname by my best friend. Most if the hair on his body has grown back now and it is the silkiest fur out of all the cats. He also gets in very cute affectionate moods and makes funny little meows to ask for the attention, before purring like a tractor! He is an odd little beast, definitely one of a kind!

RumNotRun · 25/04/2026 11:38

And as always, I forgot the photo!

I’m sorry to say that I do not like cats without fur. Sorry Rum, please don’t tell Lex. The whole point of a cat is fur and purring

Wow. I can't believe you posted that @learieonthewildmoor
Lex can't help his looks. SMH.

I think Lex is adorable.

Pixiedust1234 · 25/04/2026 12:44

Grumpy's picture reminded me of something:

My DD and her cat had a houseshare with another cat and a hamster. When hamster was in it's cage it was hamster tv for the cats but when put in it's exercise ball that hamster turned the tables and hunted those cats down and used them as skittles. She managed an impressive number of strikes 😂

Edit
I think learie's cat 4 should donate some of her lovely tail fur to poor Lex. However Lex seems to have improved his skin/fur ratio massively since I first came across these cat threads so Rum is obviously doing/feeding something right ❤

Breadcat24 · 25/04/2026 12:46

@RumNotRun Lex is definitely looking furrier. Such a sweet natured boy too. Will he grow it all back did they ever say?

I love that!

@RumNotRun, Kitty’s flattered but says she’s happily single nowadays & was never into long distance relationships. She’s sure such a fine figure of a Tom won’t have much trouble attracting a more local queen though.

Lex wouldn't know what to do with a girl cat. He's more if a mum's boy 😁

The vet never knew what was wrong with him so there were no predictions. I think he's probably as furry as he will get. @learieonthewildmoor please don't think either of us were offended! It made me laugh, especially when you said he looks like a possum. It's so odd though cause he was such a handsome kitten that he was known locally as "pretty face" and my neighbours all thought he was female as he was too beautiful to be a tom 😂😂

RumNotRun · 25/04/2026 14:15

I hope all the cats and humans are enjoying the sun.

Toad is getting high from catnip spray, while I enjoy a glass of wine. The others are all on various cushions (and Fed is in his window nest) getting very placid and relaxed in the sun.

EmpressaurusKitty · 25/04/2026 16:09

Well, we were until a car caught fire downstairs.

The fire engine arrived impressively quickly, most people had the sense to go in & watch from their windows except for some idiots who filmed from their balconies while breathing the smoke, & I imagine the owner’s going to be quite unhappy, whoever they are.

Nobody hurt, fortunately, & apparently the cause is currently unknown. Nobody was seen near the car so maybe an electrical fault or something.

HumanToCatBeasties · 25/04/2026 16:21

That sounds quite dramatic @EmpressaurusKitty

I've just discovered that I've been underestimating Boris and Matilda's age by a year. I thought they were just turning 11, but it turns out they're 12. 😮In my defense Matilda seems to have de-aged the past few months and is much more full of beans than her usual slothful self. I have no idea why, the only thing I can think of is that I changed them on to wet food only due to Boris's urinary issues.

Pianoaholic · 25/04/2026 16:57

Herbie is having a lovely time in the sun and has been out more than usual.
Unfortunately, he was stuck in our garage for 3hours yesterday before anyone noticed 😕
I had been dumping loads of junk in there and he must have followed me in.
I was teaching and finding it hard to concentrate because he hadn't arrived for his food. DH went to check the garage and there he was.

Proof that cats are creatures of habit.

Was changing the downstairs litter tray - note I said downstairs, there's one upstairs in their bedroom as well which they use. Due to bastard spinal stenosis, arthritis etc I do the litter in 2 stages, I empty and clean, then have to give my back a rest for 15 maybe 20 minutes then add the fresh litter & take it back into the room.

In that time Girlcat had obviously decided to have a poo and rather than go upstairs had gathered the wood pellets that Tobias had scattered round where the tray goes and done a very large very stinky poo exactly where the middle of the tray would have been apart from when I'm changing it.

Darling Tobias on the other hand waited until I'd cleared up my £gift" from Girlcat & returned the fresh tray to it's normal place and immediately jumped in with a satisfied "mroww" to do HIS poo.

At least it was that way round - Girlcat does normal firm sausages whereas Tobias permanently does liquid sludge due to his bowel issue.

I think Sybil will forgive you for misgendering her 🤣

RumNotRun · 25/04/2026 21:18

If you're dining Al fresco due to a BBQ, then I hope you have made suitable offerings to Sybil and her henchmen.

Toad is sleeping off the effects of catnip followed by roast chicken.

Kitty’s had a very eventful day. First the car fire, though she slept through most of it. Then I cut a hole in a big box & put a blanket on its floor, so that needed exploring, & then we had a fast game with her ball track. I try to get the ball past her & she tries to intercept it & it’s very exciting.

The cat rescue has a stall at a local St George’s Day fete tomorrow so I’ll be out all day & she can have a rest.

learieonthewildmoor · 26/04/2026 03:46

Grumpy: she’s sitting next to your dinner spot, not on it. She has a real “what are you going to do about it?” look.
Again, apologies to Lex. He’s not doing it on purpose. Cat 4 could indeed share her fluff, but I’m not going to because she is glorious and extravagant and I love it.
Cats Two and Four were outside. Cat Three waited for them to come back for half an hour.

The cats have failed abysmally at catting again. There is an infestation of rats in the area. DCat brother sits in the garden, watching the rats running around, as if they are clockwork toys!

DCat sister walked up to a rat. We expected her to pounce from three feet away - but no, she just carried on walking normally up to the rat! Needless to say, it ran away!

Pianoaholic · 26/04/2026 17:00

Wish Herbie would fail at catting.
He caught a little bird earlier today.

The lovely little pale grey tabby with green eyes who I thought was lost (it miaowed non stop) has been coming into the back garden. I think it must be a new cat on the block.
It is very pretty and extremely vocal. I will try to get a photo next time.

Is that a whistle hanging there? If so, who blows it? Please say Kitty!

No - she's lovely really, just very good at doing a resting bitch face 😹
Here's a picture of her looking rather more approachable.
