......... and try to break into the film industry.

It'll be an unlikely success as they'll have to stay awake for long periods while filming goes on.

Well. Unless they decide to make Carry On Sleeping.

Right, today was officially the last time that Kitty goes in my under bed drawers.

She climbed through into the space under the bed & I think fell asleep (or just decided to be stubborn). After she’d been there for a bit I started worrying.

Dreamies didn’t work so I sat there for at least 5 minutes waving a lick e lix around near the gap & googling the instructions for the bed in case she was actually stuck & I was going to have to take it apart.

Eventually she strolled out.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 21/03/2026 14:21

Had a delivery today on a perfectly Sybil sized box.
She's been in it for the last hour.

EmpressaurusKitty - take the drawer away? She might feel less inclined to use it if she can't hide behind the drawer and find an alternative. We still have the massive box the cat tree came in as it's the perfect size to hide away from predators. Allegedly. She won't go in smaller boxes or cat huts but our next buy might be one of those long cat huts so she feels safer at the back.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats - I see there is just enough space for a little snack bowl full of treats for her ladyship. Clever girl.

EmpressaurusKitty · 21/03/2026 16:21

I think it’s just the novelty of when the drawers are open& she can go exploring, @Pixiedust1234. I suspect removing the drawers would be a right pain & they’re useful for keeping bedding & jumpers in, so I think I’m just going to make sure she doesn’t have access.

She’s got her eyrie, under the sofa & the tops of the bookcases for when she wants to be inaccessible.

Pianoaholic · 21/03/2026 17:43

Not sure about the bag either @Breadcat24!
And I'm wondering what Micia would make of it!

Breadcat24 · 21/03/2026 19:28

@Pianoaholic at £60 not likely to find out

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 21/03/2026 20:19

I don't like it when Gizmo goes into the drawers under the bed, either.
I had a similar panic the first time he did it, trying to work out how to dismantle them, but he strolled out when he was good and ready.

He can open them himself.

She can’t, fortunately.

OFM told me a bit more about Kitty’s background too. Apparently she was one of a group of cats owned by a pub, who used them to keep the mice & rats down & either sold the kittens or kept them to help 😡.

She said the place had closed down. Which is good.

with picture in case you do not like links

The cat’s face looks tremendously pissed off: I would have started in horror.
Much too realistic in the photo.
I love a good handbag, and I love cats but I am more than happy to have them in two distinct categories.

learieonthewildmoor · 22/03/2026 00:07

Breadcat24: very belated congratulations on Micia’s arrival. She is very beautiful and I love her haughty expression when being photographed.

learieonthewildmoor · 22/03/2026 00:31

In 2018 we had our dining table chairs recovered. I posted a while ago that Cat Four had taken to crunching on the corners of the seats much to my consternation. I am here to report that Cat Four has successfully ruinated all six chairs and is now moving her attention to the bamboo wood drying rack I keep for my airplants.
She is ignoring all cat chew toys bought to draw her attention away from the chairs but will destroy any toilet paper your agent of the patriarchy leaves on the stairs.

What a beauty though, @learieonthewildmoor. How are Cats One to Three?

Defiantly41 · 22/03/2026 07:31

Agree with the cats & handbags in separate categories, although one of mine did like my Mulberry Bayswater double-zip

Things I didn't expect to be doing on a Sunday morning Part One:
Febrezing a cat flap!
Hetbie went into the conservatory and hissed repeatedly and then went to his catflap and sniffed it. That's when I noticed the smell!
There is a handsome long haired brown tabby who's been in the back garden alot and is obviously trying to claim it as his territory. But spraying Herbie's catflap is a bit brazen!

What a cheek, @Pianoaholic!

Pudmyboy · 22/03/2026 10:07

@learieonthewildmoor car 4 is so beautiful, such a pain that she has pain in the bum tendencies!

Pixiedust1234 · 22/03/2026 10:25

Pianoaholic I had to do that several times at old house, only mine was fox pee. My little rescue wasn't that bothered as she used to beat them up. The Stray was scared of the adults but chased the cubs 🙄 I think it was payback but I can't work out why it was ME being punished. The house absolutely stank. On the plus side we never had rats.

Pixiedust1234 · 22/03/2026 10:28

As I was typing the above somebody has decided it's naptime. Guess I'm not making the bed just yet.

Pianoaholic · 22/03/2026 11:08

I am hoping it won't be a regular occurance @Pixiedust1234
Is fox pee worse?!

Pixiedust1234 · 22/03/2026 11:19

Personally I think so. I could smell it upstairs and made me gag even before I got to the kitchen. Tomcat has only ever stunk out the one room, ie hallway if he marked the front door.

Hopefully it was just a one off, poor Herbie doesn't need a stinky boy in his life. I never thought about using febreeze tbh but what a clever idea, I used dettox counter spray on mine.

Breadcat24 · 22/03/2026 11:43

Well that was a disaster.
We have built an enclosed catio around cat flap and decided to introduce Micia to the chipped cat flap.
So we tried to catch her and put her in the carrier to take her to the cat flap.

She really goy upset, I am now covered in blood, she has peed on the floor she was so scared.
I feel terrible- all the trust is probably gone.

Plan B is just to wedge the cat flap open to see if she goes out of her own accord. But as she is feisty and an excellent climber we are worried she could escape the catio.😿

EmpressaurusKitty · 22/03/2026 11:47

If this helps Breadcat, that’s more or less what happened when I was trying to get my very nervous first foster into his carrier for a vet trip. Our driver arrived & I had blood dripping from my head like something out of a horror film. We managed to get him in there between us & dropped him at the vets while she took me on to A&E.

It took a while but the trust did come back.

Ah but she is very beautiful Learie so she is forgiven.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 22/03/2026 13:50

Gizmo this morning, shagging my duvet.

Again.

I actually dislodged him with my copy of Cat Among The Pigeons.

Which was mightily appropriate.

He was unimpressed when he landed on the floor, though.

Quite.
I will be after that naughty brown tabby with the febreze! (Just joking!)
