......... and try to break into the film industry.

It'll be an unlikely success as they'll have to stay awake for long periods while filming goes on.

Well. Unless they decide to make Carry On Sleeping.

I think they were only next to me cause the heated blanket was on 😁

@Kirova I agree, you are a cat whisperer and doing a fantastic job.

I have a ridiculousness of cats next to me.

I love that a group of cats can be known as a clowder, for some reason makes me think of cheese....

EmpressaurusKitty · 08/03/2026 21:03

This is how Kitty’s Ouija board looked when I got in earlier.

Is it a message?

I am very excited as I think I have managed to train Stripey to do a high-five!

(Not pictured in photo which shows her looking at me suspiciously like a cat who finds tricks beneath her. Will have to get DH to try to record it if she will do it in front of him.)

Lex is not giving up his space on the blanket. I think he may have melted.

@EmpressaurusKitty definitely a message, probably something about having to give her Ladyship more chicken and Dreamies.

Highly likely. I even dreamed the other night that she’d learned to speak English in order to ask for more Dreamies.

Pudmyboy · 09/03/2026 07:32

@EmpressaurusKitty I have had dreams in which various cats in my life could speak English! I was most disappointed on waking to realise they couldn't. Or wouldn't.......🤔

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/03/2026 13:31

We have an attack of the voids on our bed this afternoon.

I think I've mentioned this before - but If you haven't already read it, I suggest you try the short story Tobermory by Saki (link enclosed)
www.libraryofshortstories.com/onlinereader/tobermory
You'll never wish for a talking cat again 🤣

Pudmyboy · 09/03/2026 13:42

Thanks (I think!) Grumpy I will have a read of that later!

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/03/2026 13:42

Given how good Kitty is already at telling me what she wants, I think being able to speak English would be a step too far - I can imagine the arguments now!

Defiantly41 · 09/03/2026 16:16

I follow Elsiewants on Instagram - she is a 4 -year old tortie who "speaks" to her owner by using communication buttons - there seems to be a fair bit of interpretation going on and her communication is quite toddler-ish (and charming!). Since I've retired and we only have one cat after losing her sister, I have noticed that I understand what she wants much better by watching her body language (to be fair, 90% of the time it's food/clean my litter tray/cuddles/occasionally open the door so I can go out (she won't deign to exit through the flap these days but will enter!).

I think Shady's Mum was going to have a go with the buttons - Elsie uses hers to ask for medicine when her pain from an old injury flares up, so could be useful.

That was a lot of fun! Though I am afraid anyone listening to a cat's report of my behaviour would be bored beyond belief!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/03/2026 16:25

Very pleased you enjoyed it Pud. I love the dry humour and writing style of Saki's stories. I think Tobermory is an absolute gem.

RumNotRun · 09/03/2026 16:50

I have now ordered a book of Saki's short stories, so thank you @Grumpyoldpersonwithcatsfor introducing me to him.

I didn’t really get to know Kitty until her son had left, then her language became very clear.

Mice, birds, butterflies. All dead. Yum in Kitty's tum.

And we (or I) have had an attack of the dead birds in the garden.

Two.

Linney, you're a bad boy sometimes.

A food order? I hadn’t thought of that.

I wonder if Kitty hunted when she was a pregnant stray. The closest she gets to it now is vaguely waving a paw at a spider & then ignoring it.

Although a rescue volunteer knits mice which are stuffed to the limits with very stinky catnip & Kitty’s been hunting hers all over the flat.

My next door neighbour has built a pond, so I'm totally expecting an influx of frogs and toads this year. In varying levels of life 🤢. I hate cleaning up after them more than the mice. Agatha is, thankfully, either less interested, or less good, at catching birds, but this may be deliberate after the Magpie Incident....

Does this lovely rescue worker have an etsy account or does Kitty have to do an order via the ether instead?

Kitty manifests them via her Ouija board. In the real world, is it ok if I PM you once I get home, @Pixiedust1234?

Here is my friend's DD posing on World Book Day.

If you look just behind the hat she is wearing, you can see that Hamish decided he ought to get in on the act.

And in the picture.
