......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

I ought to grow some fresh catnip like you have. It must be much healthier! (Although like drugs to them!)

EmpressaurusKitty · 16/05/2025 14:21

She’s back inside now, looking very chilled. Since that’s been a hit, I’m going to have a look at what other cat-friendly plants might work on east-facing balconies.

Esgaroth · 16/05/2025 15:30

Kettle's found a shady spot to relax.

Closest he's got yet to camouflage - yellow broom dappling over the luminescent orange.

You can still see the orange though!

He's getting closer with the yellow flowers!

Esgaroth · 16/05/2025 17:55

Sorry Allergic, didn't notice you'd already said that!

Apparently tigers are camouflaged despite orange fur because their prey are colour blind. So I may be doing him down anyway and the orange blends perfectly into the green from his perspective.

stormsandsunshine · 16/05/2025 23:33

Mr Tuxedo came too early this evening and our cats were still chilling out upstairs. He hung around our patio looking hopeful and a bit confused before giving up.

Defiantly41 · 17/05/2025 00:17

@Pianoaholic I’ve never had any success at growing catnip, as either our cats or the 5 from next door would nibble/lie on it and flatten it completely,

JaceLancs · 17/05/2025 01:44

Finlay came home again last night so I feel
very blessed!
All cats are beautiful

A couple of my fosters would have done that too, but Kitty’s generally fairly gentle.

Except around feet.

Pianoaholic · 17/05/2025 08:23

My late mum had some lovely cat ornaments which I now have. This morning Herbie decided to join them!

I think one of mine must have read your post about lying on plants!

As my cats are indoor only, I always have a little pot of cat grass growing for them next to their food station. And for the first time ever I got up this morning to see that someone had sat on it & flattened the lovely stand of fresh grass. I have my suspicions that the inconsiderate one may be fat, tabby & white, and male!

ShoutyCatSlave · 17/05/2025 14:16

I've recently had to buy some new napeta plants (cat mint, same family as catnip, but not as strong, I don't think). I buy them because they flower early, and the bees love them. Unfortunately, so does Agatha. Which is why I've had to buy new ones..... I've had to put one lot at the top of a tiered stand to keep it away from her. She just eats the ground-level one, then goes batshit and tries to race everything / everyone, and bites whatever she catches. Mainly my ankles. Oh well, at least she seems to be having fun!

I think Mr Tuxedo is in love. Scandalous considering Stripey and Snowcat are still so young (and already married).

I’d forgotten about the marriage! How’s that going, @stormsandsunshine? I can’t remember who’s married to who.

RumNotRun · 14/05/2025 21:47

Oh jeez @PollyCreoI presume he's ok and just his pride that is wounded. Sometimes I do wonder where all the PR came from that cats are elegant, graceful, great climbers...I suspect cats made it up cause my lot certainly fail at elegant and graceful!

He's 7kg (a whole other story) and has never been graceful or elegant 🙃The vet always gives me a row when I take him, even when I explain I spend half my waking hours trying to stop him stealing Rosie's food 😳

I'm enjoying the thread about people speaking different languages to their pets 😅 Kloppy is actually a Greek Cypriot cat who I rescued at 8 months old, I can confirm he disobeys me in both Greek and English 🙄😹

EmpressaurusKitty · 17/05/2025 20:01

One of my friends ended up getting microchip-activated feeders for her cats so that they could only access their own food.

Is Kitty smiling in her sleep or is that just me?

She's definitely smiling there @EmpressaurusKitty I know we're not meant to anthropomorphize them but... 😻

Esgaroth · 17/05/2025 22:38

Definitely smiling!

We're having a Eurovision party and Kettle has gone out in disgust.

DD2 married them both in secret ceremonies a few months back. However Stripey seems to be having a bit of a fling with DD1 (she likes her mid-sleeper bed), not to mention Mr Tux, whom Stripey is fascinated by. DD2 is unaware of these undercurrents however, though I am not sure whether she even remembers she is married to the cats as she hasn’t mentioned it recently.

The whole house is a den of iniquity, basically.

RumNotRun · 17/05/2025 22:58

Frank and Fred were being cute earlier.

I made a Mexican beef casserole (too much chipotle though!) and Frank was DESPERATE to try some. I had to eat one handed and use one hand to keep him back. I don't mind sharing but this was seriously spicy, plus had onions and garlic in. He is an absolute fiend for anything spicy. Strange little beast.

You’ve got a den of iniquity, I’ve got a feline crack den… I had no idea cat ownership was so edgy.

Esgaroth · 17/05/2025 23:07

I thought I spotted him in the garden taking refuge from the Europop but he's so stealthy I can't be sure..

We have lots of bright orange poppies in the front garden. Kettle would blend in very well!
