......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

Congratulations Leroy. Still dapper in your coat

Esgaroth · 22/06/2025 11:56

I love how the coat shows you just how much of Leroy is fluff!

@Esgaroth that is amazing!

EmpressaurusKitty · 22/06/2025 13:47

I went for a walk in West London this morning and saw some NMCs - Not My Cows & Not My Coots.

Is that really cross stitch, @Esgaroth? It’s incredible.

That is amazing. I'm tempted to add one of Boris and Matilda to my ever growing crafting list. It's very hard to get a picture of them together though. Doing two might be a bit time consuming.

Yes, it's on 18 ct so the crosses are quite small!

@Esgaroth That looks just like him
Are you going to cross stitch a cone on him for old times sake?

I love that. would you mind telling me where you got the pattern from? I think you mentioned something about it before, but I can't remember what you said. I need to get back into doing crafty stuff once I've got the house decorated.

I'm really missing the laugh emoji reaction. 😹

I made it by drawing over a lightly edited (to reduce the colours) photo of him on flosscross.com - other websites can do the same thing. You can set the photo to 50% opaqueness and then just go over it with your chosen palette and edit it to make it nice to stitch. I enjoy making the patterns as much as I enjoy stitching it tbh, though the stitching takes a lot longer of course.

I haven't gone to bed yet because Gizmo is still out and I'm waiting for the bugger to come home.
Even Linney has returned and is fast asleep.

Gizmo was clearly exploring the village at his leisure, because the little shit did not return till 4 am.

And only then because we had a thunderstorm.
🤣

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne He really does not look like he gives a damn. Is he still using a window? Is it time for a cat flap?

I had to. He can't get in via the window.

He taps and rubs his paw on the front door when he wishes to be admitted. I wouldn't have heard that unless I was awake. And Pa Broon was already fast asleep.

Memories of waiting up for recalcitrant teenagers............

Could you make him some kind of ladder?

Esgaroth · 22/06/2025 15:23

Oh my goodness, if he wasn't back by midnight I'd have let him wait till morning! Perhaps a few hours hiding under a bush in the rain will learn him.

I'm clearly a hard hearted monster, though.

He can't reach the window. His ability to jump is very poor now. He can't even jump on to the dining room table anymore. He does it in stages, by scrabbling on to the TV table, then a chair, then the table.

And then he boldly jumps out of the window....... but he can't get back on to the window ledge from outside.

As for a cat flap - we'd love one, but the front door has three layers and both the work people we've asked have said it's impossible. This is a council house, so we can't change the door.

We've thought about a ladder but it would go across the front path and get in our way, not to mention the way of the postie, and Chris the Evri delivery man.

We must be hard hearted too.
If they aren't in when we go bed they are out all night. (unless they wake me up by yelling outside the house 😹)
