......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

@Pianoaholic
Yes, it's a music degree.

I wish your DS well with his remaining GCSEs.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/06/2025 09:08

Victory 😁.

Sybil went absolutely mad for the lick-e-lix. Pill crushed in - she licked the plate clean.
I can see me buying industrial quantities of that too 🤣

Great news! What a relief to have a 'system' that works well!
I could get Pud to take certain meds hidden in Lick-e-lix, but not antibiotics so I am very impressed! And pleased, as I am sure you are!
There is a wide range of flavours available to switch around and keep her on her toes for the coming weeks.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 08/06/2025 11:14

He did send me a picture of college cat going about his business a few days ago.

It looks like the college cat had just been returning some books to the Bodleian.

That college cat particularly likes libraries - even though he's not supposed to go in them, he still does.

RumNotRun · 08/06/2025 13:08

A cat who loves books, how distinguished. Although knowing what cats are like, he only probably loves the libraries because he knows he's not meant to be there.

My cats see books simply as sideless boxes and therefore exist simply to sleep on.

A cat going where he's not supposed to? You astonish me.

Kettle is blackbird watching. They seem to have spotted him, despite the cover of foliage.

He might find camouflage a lot easier in autumn.

Pianoaholic · 08/06/2025 19:08

Herbie thinks the lounge window is just another convenient catflap fir when he can't be bothered to go round to the official catflap at the back!

Yes, Lickelix make loads of flavours.

We've got a mountain of them in the cupboard, for when Linney was put on to some tablets. We thought he'd be on them for life, so we invested in a job lot. Piles of the sodding things, every flavour.

Naturally, the vet took him off the tablets after five weeks.

🤣🤣🤣

I laughed quite a lot when I discovered the Liver Sausage and Cat Grass flavour. Now I want a career in Cat Snack Development.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/06/2025 21:45

Haven't posted a photo of Karl recently - so I'll rectify that as I think he's looking rather handsome tonight 😁.

He is very handsome @Grumpyoldpersonwithcatsespecially with his ear hairs.

Lex is in my bad books tonight. I tried to have a cuddle with him and he attacked me with his evil gremlin feet and made me bleed!!! He's now sitting next to me, grooming Toad as if to show me that he's not an evil vicious beast

After using me as a chaise longue for a good part of the afternoon, Snowcat was exhausted and had to retire to DD’s bed for a proper rest

DD’s bed looks like a better opportunity for camouflage.

I went for a long walk yesterday including a canal towpath, river bank, parks & meadows with the odd muddy bit. Kitty spent ages giving my trainers a very thorough inspection - I think they must have been the cat equivalent of putting photos on Facebook.

Pleased to report that Sybil's behaviour is back to normal and she's certainly got her appetite back.
Today she thus far has had a tube of antibiotic infused lick-e-lix, a pouch of cat food to herself, finished my cereal and Mrs G's porridge and then had another pouch 🤣.

That’s fantastic news, Grumpy.

ShoutyCatSlave · 09/06/2025 11:49

Yay. And the thumbs up was for it's original use, not "agree". 😀

ShoutyCatSlave · 09/06/2025 11:52

This just popped up on my feed.... I'm pretty sure this isn't Herbie, but it's a good Doppelganger.

It's no wonder she was admired by Gizmo.

He can pack food away without ceasing, too.

What a relief for you Grumpy! Do the antibiotics also contain an appetite stimulant?

How's your scratched hand Rum? Hopefully you won't be needing antibiotics too.

That's a lovely cat. His "splodge" on his face is in the same place as Herbie's!

PollyCreo · 09/06/2025 13:30

Glad to hear Sybil's on the mend Grumpy 👍

I'm just back from a long weekend weekend away to the other side of the island, it was planned for months and was really excited about it. However, Kloppy almost put a spanner in the works 😳 Friday morning he was all miserable and lethargic, didn't eat his breakfast (unheard of) and wasn't interested in cuddles. Friday after work, his breathing sounded weird so rushed him to the vet who examined him thoroughly but couldn't find a problem except for a high temperature 🤒 Said he'd probably got an infection from fighting (sounded about right) so gave him various injections and an hour later he was right as rain 🙄

He does have form for this on bank holiday weekends though, he likes to test my love for him I reckon 🙀😹

I read recently that tabbies are descended from African / Asian wildcats.

This would explain a few things.
