......... as Gizmo and Linney almost reach their first anniversary, they reflect on the joys of living in the same hoose.

I saw this on FB and thought you would all agree.

They missed the obvious.

  1. Your owner's just bought a big box.

Although I seem to remember Grumpy bought a massive amount of cat food on special offer. He was obviously feeling brave.

Say it quietly - but they haven't gone off the food mountain yet 😁

I said you were feeling rich, not that you were rich. 🤣

Have the fearless foursome eaten their way through the EEC cat food mountain yet?

So far mine have gone from Whiskas to Felix to Felix better than it looks (or whatever it's called) to something else to Purina Gourmet, plus a whole carrier bag of urinary cat food that Boris has deemed unsuitable for cats. It's strange how every time they go off one I end up having to buy something more expensive.

Also, am I the only one who finds it weird that to open the Purina pouches I have to tear the top off the head of the fluffy white cat on the front?

EmpressaurusKitty · 04/06/2025 19:38

Kitty was on IAMS dry food for sensitive digestion when she moved in, I changed her to a Purina that’s both sensitive digestion and for spayed cats, and so far she’s stuck with it.

I don’t think she cares that much about food unless it’s Dreamies.

Pianoaholic · 04/06/2025 19:50

Herbie isn't fussy about food, he eats any brand of catfood.
So he is an exception to that list @RumNotRun .
I just ended up buying some whiskas crunchy topping to go on wet food...I actually thought I was buying whiskas dentabites as the packet is identical. (Except I obviously need to refresh my reading skills!)
I'm sure Herbie will eat them very happily. 😅

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/06/2025 20:24

I've found some Basil and Sybil kitten photos. Thought I'd share 😻

They are happily troughing through it - but plenty still left.

Allergictoironing · 04/06/2025 20:36

Squee! Baby Sybil!!! 💖💖💖

Pixiedust1234 · 04/06/2025 20:38

Basil had an intimidating glare as a kitten 😱

Sybil is just a kitten sized Sybil. Beautiful and elegant

So is Gizmo. I've recently bought some ordinary Felix which is cheaper than AGAIL and Gizmo stuffs himself with it.

Linney, on the other hand, looks outraged that I'd even suggest that he lowers himself by eating it.

Linney is actually very fussy. He only likes AGAIL. Gizmo eats any cat food, any brand, any flavour, with gusto.

Nice that our cats are 'exceptional ' in one way @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne !

Basil and Sybil were gorgeous kittens! And of course, they are gorgeous cats too.😻

Didn't he just!
Pa Broon blenched when he saw that photo.

My lot would be jealous of all your cats' food. They only get pouches as a special treat. They aren't really too fussy with food thankfully although they did go through a stage recently where the 3 or 4 usual brands were all rejected. I think it's cause they sensed I had no money left and wanted me to panic about what to feed them 😁

stormsandsunshine · 04/06/2025 22:45

My cats are being a right pain about food at the moment. They used to finish their food without fuss, but they've both decided to turn into grazers who act hungry and hang around till you feed them, then eat approximately 2 bites and then wander off.

It's making the room quite smelly. They do finish the food eventually but it takes hours (and I only give them half a pouch each at a time).

Snowcat seems to prefer dry food and I think would exist on that quite happily. Stripey only likes wet food (but can only apparently manage a thimble sized portion in one go).

They've even gone off Purina Pro Plan Kitten which was their favourite - I put some out this morning and it got picked at gradually over half a day.

coastergirl · 04/06/2025 23:39

I know I'm at risk of jinxing myself here, but Walter and Benny really are quite simple when it comes to food (and when it comes to their brains tbh). They have tesco dry food out all the time which is topped up as and when needed. They aren't keen on other brands, not that I've tried many, but that's not an issue. At tea time they get a pouch each of aldi wet food in gravy which they both eat a bit of, wander off and then come back and finish off. And that's it! They loiter in the kitchen around 5pm staring at me until they get their tea, but otherwise they aren't that bothered, unless they're trying to steal fish or chicken from my plate of course.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

adorable photos of them as kittens.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/06/2025 04:16

To be fair ours are pretty relaxed about food too. We regularly receive half empty boxes of random sachets from a friend with a fussy cat. Ours just eat them.
I think having four cats probably makes them a bit more pragmatic.
The 'kittens' aren't bothered by human food though, unlike Basil and Sybil who will snaffle anything.

Esgaroth · 05/06/2025 08:59

Kettle's greediness makes him pragmatic.

Although he does have a thing about pate textured food, he's never turned his nose up at anything else. And tbh he just eats pate a bit slower with a few glares at the negligent human who gave it to him. He'd never actually not eat something.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/06/2025 09:04

Wish us luck.
Sybil has been a bit out of sorts over the last few days. Realised today that she's struggling to go to the loo...
Vet at 10.15.

Allergictoironing · 05/06/2025 09:30

Poor Sybil! Lots of love & cuddles for get, good luck with the vet

EmpressaurusKitty · 05/06/2025 09:34

Good luck Sybil xx

Esgaroth · 05/06/2025 09:45

Good luck, Sybil! Hope it can be sorted out with a minimum of fuss.
