Well, the boys among them are making plans.

The lady cats are having a spa fortnight in Italy.

Bills for flights, accommodation, food, booze, medical insurance and legal fees (not to mention a fund for bribing officials at Ljubljana Prison) are allegedly being sent to an unmonitored email address.

Sorry @PianoaholicI've just realised I "corrected" you by saying the same cat's name! That'll teach me for replying when I've had a few drinks. Clearly the alcohol affected my ability to read!

EmpressaurusKitty · 15/03/2025 18:13

I’m nearly home after being away overnight.

Kitty had to allow my neighbour to feed & play with her.

And my clothes are covered in dog hair.

Oh dear.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 15/03/2025 22:25

How is Agatha @ShoutyCatSlave?
Is she eating any more?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 15/03/2025 22:26

And how's Kettle getting on @Esgaroth?

OP posts:
ShoutyCatSlave · 16/03/2025 09:20

Agatha has finally perked up this morning. I told her last night we'd have to go back to the vet today, so she woke me up at 6am by pawing at my nose, to be let under the duvet. Then wriggled a lot before deciding what she really wanted was for me to sit up, leaving lots of nice, warm, mattress available for her to roll about on. Then she demanded breakfast like the last 5 days didn't happen! I'm so relieved! 😃

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/03/2025 09:29

Very pleased that Agatha sounds to be on the mend.
Sybil has been 'helping' with the porridge this morning.

@Esgaroth - how is Kettle getting on?

Esgaroth · 16/03/2025 09:50

Kettle is doing fine I think. I suppose he's somewhat used to the drill with cones and seems happy enough, though he's frustrated to not be able to groom properly of course. I gave him a wipe down with a warm damp flannel yesterday and he enjoyed that.

He can, with difficulty, reach the part that is stitched so we are keeping it bandaged to give him the best possible chances of successful healing.

Esgaroth · 16/03/2025 11:37

House arrest. This is the window we open to let him in and out.

I'm taking it as a good sign that he wants to go in the garden again - I suppose it shows he's not too upset by what happened.

I understand why some think that we should think about keeping him confined for his safety, but I will be trying to frighten the other cat off our patch (not hurt him, just chase him off) as a first course of action because it's not fair our cat can't potter round his garden and the other cat can have the whole neighbourhood (I know cats don't see it this way but still).

I've made some enquiries because I wanted to let the owner know to look out for injuries and though I couldn't find the owner, it seems Pale One likely lives fairly far away (a real roaming type it seems) so hopefully with a little discouragement he won't be too bothered about cutting our garden out of his range. I haven't seen him since the incident. I do hope he's not injured.

So glad Kettle is in fine fettle @Esgaroth !
I would think the Pale One is fine given he is the more aggressive one, but if he has been knocked about by Kettle, well, he started it!
Good luck with the chasing. As I have mentioned before, I used to run at Pud's bullies, clapping my hands, and that was enough to make them scarper, so that after a while just the sound of the door opening was enough to send them on their way.
As you say, the Pale One has a lot of other places he can bother visit.

coastergirl · 16/03/2025 22:47

Finally managed to get a yawning photo! Nowhere near Grumpy's level of expertise of course.

DH grumbled today that Kettle was 'an animal, not a prince' after the children reacted with dismay when he gently pushed the poor cat off the bench where he was eyeing up our pork chops.

He's wrong, Kettle is quite clearly a tiny furry prince.

Pa Broon fell over today, and I had to call DS2 to get him up.

I'd just been in the middle of serving dinner.

When I finally returned to the kitchen after the chaos, Gizmo had his head in the gravy boat and Linney was helping himself to the chicken.

So helpful.

They were tidying the kitchen. If you'd left them long enough all the pots would have been clean enough to put back on the shelf.

Hope Pa Broon is doing okay Flowers

Of course he is prince! With his transparent cone/crown!

Pudmyboy · 16/03/2025 23:57

Hope Pa Broon is okay @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne , though I did titter at the speedy work of the broon and white ones, hopefully they were just trying to tidy up and weren't being self centered toerags

RumNotRun · 17/03/2025 07:31

Another one hoping Pa Broon is ok, although I did snigger at how quickly the cats moved in on the food. Waste not, want not!

@coastergirlI also managed a yawn photo, again not up to Grumpy's standard though.

Sorry to hear Pa Broon has had a fall - hope he's ok, but at the same time pleased to hear that Linney and Gizmo were quick to the scene to offer him sympathy take advantage.
Great cat yawn pictures @coastergirl & @RumNotRun 😻

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/03/2025 10:19

Those are brilliant yawn pictures @coastergirl and @RumNotRun

Definitely worthy of Grumpy's efforts.

Excellent yawn photos.

I haven’t managed to get any yawn photos of Kitty yet but here she is being less than impressed with having a blanket on top of her.

This was Snowcat when she was younger and DD2 thought that a “cat blanket” was something you tucked a cat in underneath.

Esgaroth · 17/03/2025 13:12

Kettle likes being tucked in. Or at least he doesn't seem to mind it 😆

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I hope your husband didn't hurt himself too badly.

Old photo hence no cone!

RumNotRun · 17/03/2025 14:22

Toad has spent a lot of the day being sick (he does this at times) and is now trying to get me to give him catnip. He thinks it's very unfair that I won't.

Glad to hear that Agatha and Kettle are doing OK.
Hope your DH is OK @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne .

My DH turned 52 on Sunday, he doesn't look a day over 51! Herbie allowed him to stroke his tummy, which must have been his present to DH! I think it helped that Herbie was pretty out of it, basking in the sun in the conservatory, so he didn't react in his usual vicious way.

When we last took Herbie to the vet, she advised putting sun cream on his white ear (he has one white ear and one black, not being the most symmetrical of cats!) Has anyone else with white cats had this advice?

I will have to judge very carefully as to the best time to attempt to apply it!
