Lap dances, strippers and punch-ups - the Excellent Cats arrange a stag party

Well, the boys among them are making plans.

The lady cats are having a spa fortnight in Italy.

Bills for flights, accommodation, food, booze, medical insurance and legal fees (not to mention a fund for bribing officials at Ljubljana Prison) are allegedly being sent to an unmonitored email address.

Breadcat says it is sleeting and miserable outside and there is no reason to get off the spare bed.

Hope Kettle is okay @Esgaroth

Esgaroth · 13/03/2025 16:13

He's broken a claw, which is not so bad, but he's also ripped the pad of his back paw. They're going to put him under and sew it up.

He'll have to wear a cone for 10 days and it's 50/50 if it will actually heal and if it doesn't they'll have to remove the pad 😟

I'm waiting for him in the car now.

Pianoaholic · 13/03/2025 16:13

@Esgaroth I know from experience that it can be very difficult to get out there and stop a fight once they go for one another so don't feel guilty. Someone suggested taking a broom out to separate them rather than squirting water, which is a common suggestion. That can make it worse as they associate the other cat with being squirted with water.
Hope Kettle is OK.

Pianoaholic · 13/03/2025 16:14

Just saw your update😿

Breadcat24 · 13/03/2025 16:20

@Esgaroth so sorry about Kettle's paw
Can you put some sort of cat proofing barrier in your garden to deter the fiend

EmpressaurusKitty · 13/03/2025 16:29

Oh no @Esgaroth, I hope his paw gets better.

Esgaroth · 13/03/2025 16:32

Not without getting a whole new fence with cat proofing and closing up the big gap at the front. Our garden is very open access. I will be chasing that cat away every time I see him now, though and he might just get a splash from one of the kids' water guns if he doesn't get the message.

Although I do hope he's OK after the fight.

Really Kettle only goes out for about 2x30 minutes a day and doesn't go further than 100 metres from the house, it's so unlucky that he can't just have that without getting into conflict!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/03/2025 16:36

Very sorry to hear that the lovely Kettle has been in the wars. Wishing him and his paw a quick recovery.

RumNotRun · 13/03/2025 16:47

Oh poor Kettle!!

CatsonPollock · 13/03/2025 17:51

Poor Kettle. The dreaded cone 😿
Really hope the pad heals OK.

Thanks for the well wishes. He's now hiding under my son's bed looking quite sorry for himself with massive pupils from the anaesthetic. I suppose he just needs a small space to feel safe right now.

Poor baby. Do you still have his pyjamas if needed?

Poor baby. Do you still have his pyjamas if needed?

Yes, but I'm not sure they'd work on a back leg. Hopefully the standard cone will do the trick as the back paw is a bit harder to get at.

He's got a little bandage on it now to protect it from the litter for the first few days.

Allergictoironing · 13/03/2025 18:30

Might be time to invest in a Catio?

Esgaroth · 13/03/2025 18:30

He's come up on our bed now but he's not loving life. Scratched nose is the least of his troubles.

Ah poor Kettle. Hope he recovers quickly.

ShoutyCatSlave · 13/03/2025 19:16

Oh no. Hope Kettle feels better soon. I took Agatha to Tue vets earlier, too. She's not been eating much / anything for the last 3 days and is lethargic and very "sad". Vet couldn't find any abscesses or anything else obvious and thought she might just have a virus. I'm keeping her inside, and will go back in a couple of days for bloods if she doesn't improve. I thought she'd hate the catflap being shut, but she just plodded upstairs to a nest by the radiator. 😥

HumanToCatBeasties · 13/03/2025 19:29

Poor kettle. I hope his paw pad heals up ok and he's out of the cone asap @Esgaroth . Hope Agatha is feeling better soon as well @ShoutyCatSlave

Yes, it sounds like it might be a good idea.

RumNotRun · 13/03/2025 21:42

I hope Agatha and Kettle both feel better very soon.

Fred has given himself the very important job of being a bed warmer upper, just what everyone needs in this weather!

How are Kettle and Agatha today?

ShoutyCatSlave · 14/03/2025 09:19

Morning! Agatha is still "not right". Hasn't eaten anything in over 24 hours. May have had a little drink, as she used the litter tray this morning for a tiny wee. I think she's feeling cold, as she just wants to sit with/ on me, or by the radiator. ☹️ Poor little sausage. It's probably a virus (she sneezed earlier).
