Lap dances, strippers and punch-ups - the Excellent Cats arrange a stag party

Well, the boys among them are making plans.

The lady cats are having a spa fortnight in Italy.

Bills for flights, accommodation, food, booze, medical insurance and legal fees (not to mention a fund for bribing officials at Ljubljana Prison) are allegedly being sent to an unmonitored email address.

Happy Caturday from Kitty!

One day I’m going to find her standing on the balcony addressing / haranguing her subjects as they cluster below.

During lockdown I'd forgotten about the first clap for the NHS thing until I heard the sound of clapping outside. Boris got really excited and went rushing to the front window. I think he thought that the humans had finally realised his awesomeness and were giving him the applause he deserved.

Frank slept on my pillow all night before coming under the duvet for a morning snug. He was so sweet, he kept nearly falling asleep with his little head slowly dropping down onto my arm, then he'd shake himself awake like he was fighting sleep. I would have quite happily stayed there all day but I really needed the toilet and the rest of the tribe were going nuts waiting for breakfast. He really is turning into the snuggliest of cats.

That’s really lovely, @RumNotRun.

Happy Caturday! It is still only 1° but Kettle is making the most of the sunshine by having a little roll around on the drive.

It's the first Sunday in Lent which is my favourite part of the church year, firstly because I can really bring my general grumpiness to the fore, and secondly because the music is all in minor keys which is much more enjoyable to sing (Jesu, Lover of my soul to 'Aberystwyth' was the high point this morning)
Anyway during a tedious sermon I was considering what the cats should give up for Lent. I've suggested to Lenny that he stops chasing Sybil, and to Karl that he tries to cut down the mousing.
Not convinced they were listening to me any more than I was listening to this morning's sermon...

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/03/2025 17:51

Kitty spent most of the day basking as far as I can make out. I went for a 6-mile walk involving the Thames, snowdrops, primroses, sitting outside a cafe with a cappuccino & a cheese scone - and possibly the most exciting bit, meeting a Maine Coon called Olivia at a garden centre.

She was riding on her owner’s shoulder & appeared to be having a wonderful time staring haughtily down at passing dogs.

Forty Days and Forty Nights and the one about the prowling hosts of Midian are my melancholy favourites Grin

My suggestion that giving up Dreamies for Lent would be spiritually rewarding has not gone down well.

Sounds a great day. Coincidentally I've been for a walk along the Thames this afternoon too (great minds eh?) but sadly no coffee shops or meet and greets with random Maine Coons 😥

My old wool jumper that I wear pretty much all the time has finally had it so I am choosing wool colours for a new one.

I was thinking black for the main colour and then I remembered I have a cat with a lot of white now so that might not be the best choice.

My last one was a sort of oatmeal colour and hasn't shown his fur too much, but I want a change. Am I mad to consider coordinating clothes with my cat's fur? 😄

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/03/2025 18:01

Forty days and forty nights is on next week's hymsheet, and Christian dost thou see them will definitely be making an appearance too shortly. Both are great hymns. 😁

Esgaroth · 09/03/2025 18:03

I love cheese scones. Damn it I want a cheese scone now, Empress.

In other news my talented daughter has made Kettle a wool 'mouse' all by herself. I'm pleased to report that he went mad for it. Most gratifying!

It was a cheese & chive from Gail’s & it was lovely.

Good for your daughter!

I'm getting this wool. Amber and white then? Just fully match the cat? 😄

Though when I brush him, the fluff balls I harvest are probably closer to 'wheat' so with that colour I could probably have a layer of cat fluff all over me and nobody would guess.

Yes, it’s not too popular here either!

cats are agnostic - see thou shall not kill or steal etc
they do not do lent but might eat the chicken for you if that is what you are giving up

Allergictoironing · 09/03/2025 18:26

Virtually impossible with mine. Black cat with silvery white undercoat. Dark brown tabby and gleaming white cat. Anything light coloured shows that black & dark brown, anything dark coloured shows the 2 whites. Probably the mid-grey, a fraction darker than battleship grey, shows them the least but they still show.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 09/03/2025 18:49

Noooooooooooo.

I don't like singing hymns (or anything much else with a few exceptions) in minor keys.

And there you have it. I have spoken.

The end.

My clothes are mostly black so adopting a tortie with a mostly white body was something of a challenge. Me and Boris blend in nicely though.

It's obviously been a day for long walks. My parents decided that they wanted to walk down the towpath near where I live into the city centre which was around 6 miles. It was a long way, but since my 78 year old dad was perfectly happy walking it I couldn't really complain, plus we stopped for lunch at John Lewis. It's an interesting route that takes you round the back of the football stadium and some industrial areas, but is quite pretty with loads of NMS(wans).
