Lap dances, strippers and punch-ups - the Excellent Cats arrange a stag party

Well, the boys among them are making plans.

The lady cats are having a spa fortnight in Italy.

Bills for flights, accommodation, food, booze, medical insurance and legal fees (not to mention a fund for bribing officials at Ljubljana Prison) are allegedly being sent to an unmonitored email address.

I’ve been in online meetings most of the day & Kitty decided to start shouting. Not coming up to join in, just shouting.

I would, obviously, far rather have been on the floor playing with her.

He has very curly whiskers!

He does, it's one of my favourite things about him. The fur on his tummy is also quite curly, a bit like a Devon Rex. He's such a funny little cat, totally different to Fred, his brother (who is about twice his size!)

Breadcat24 · 05/03/2025 20:02

Breadcat is very upset as I have gone back to work after being retired for a year. She is wandering around crying. I feel awful. But if I was here she would not give a shit

EmpressaurusKitty · 05/03/2025 20:42

Kitty is practising being an empress. Or an empressaurus.

I like Wednesdays as I have no work on Wednesdays and can spend the day with Herbie!
He's not really bothered of course and sticks to his usual routine. At least now it's spring, he's not quite as lazy.

Poor you, @Breadcat24! I’m sure she’ll get used to it.

Time for bed.

I am going to be deeply unpopular this evening. After about a week of sharp frosts every night, the weather has just turned and not only was it not freezing last night but the forecast for tonight is about 8 degrees minimum. So I've turned the heating off completely.

EmpressaurusKitty · 06/03/2025 08:58

I’ve turned the heating off too, since it’s not that cold & Kitty’s in & out from the balcony which means the back door’s mostly open. I
I can wear an extra jumper if necessary…

stormsandsunshine · 06/03/2025 12:10

I tried opening the patio doors again. Stripey ran straight behind the piano and hid there until they were safely closed - she seems to think someone is going to force her outside into the terrifying world. Snowcat was a little braver and went to stand out on the patio (cowering and trembling) for about 5 seconds before running back inside.

For those who sent best wishes, Chiropractors was BLISS! Apart from a couple of caustic comments by her about the original mis-diagnosis (she's been sent copies of all the reports I've had), she gave me my first full body adjustment for 6 months.

The relief for my lower back is fabulous. I know I'll be stiff tomorrow, but my background pain is down to a 1-2 rather than my recent 4. AND I came home to Tobias asking for a shoulder & bum scratch, and Girlcat wanting snuggles on the sofa. Best day I've had for ages.

What great news, being pain-free or even pain-reduced is life-changing!
Have you got more sessions booked? Hope so!

It took weeks before Kitty felt confident enough to go on the balcony, & that’s an enclosed space inaccessible to other cats.

stormsandsunshine · 06/03/2025 12:30

They keep following me to the side door (which we use most of the time for coming in and out of the house), and I'm sometimes worried they'll try to follow someone out that way, which is much less safe than exploring the garden. So I'm trying to encourage them to divert any curiosity about the outdoors to the back door.

I guess because it's winter they haven't seen us go in and out of the garden doors as often, whereas they are very curious about what lies behind the side door.

They were exactly the same about exploring the house beyond their safe room. Once Snowcat has ventured somewhere, Stripey will follow fairly soon as she doesn't like being left behind.

RumNotRun · 06/03/2025 13:51

@stormsandsunshine Fred is a bit similar in that he'll follow me to the front or back door as if he really wants to go out, but when I put a harness on him and tried to take him out the back with Toad, he freaked out and ran back inside faster than I have ever seen him move. He was terrified of the empty garden with not even a bird nearby.

Pianoaholic · 06/03/2025 17:27

Herbie is enjoying being outside, particularly sitting in the front garden surveying his kingdom.
Today, 2 schoolgirls were crouched down at the end of the drive, beckoning to Herbie. He wasn't having it though and just stared at them!
Mind you, I was worried he might swipe at them. He can be unpredictable at times!

I suppose it is good if cats are a bit cautious about going outside, at least they may not go too far.

Sort of a silly question - I've stayed mobile for about the last 10 years mainly through monthly chiro visits! Just under 3 weeks until the next one :)

Ah thanks, I did not know this, my apologies!

Allergictoironing · 06/03/2025 20:03

No apologies needed 😀 It's one of those things I've learned to live with over the last couple of decades.

Whatever they decide to do, it won't stop the arthritis anyway just the stenosis & the out of place vertebra, so I'll probably still be seeing my Chiro for another 20-odd years (assuming I live that long)

Allergictoironing · 07/03/2025 06:17

So this morning, after doing all the necessary, came out of my room to go downstairs and was met in the hallway by Tobias. He's taken to doing that lately, requesting a neck, shoulders & bum massage.

Except today after accepting the caresses offered he collapsed onto his side & offered me - BELLY!. I took a chance and had a good 30 seconds revelling in the paradise I had been shown, before he rolled onto his other side & gave a playful swipe towards my hand (with no claws, and intentionally missing). Deciding discretion is the better part of valour I retreated, but floated down the stairs on air.

This is a major breakthrough IMO. 😻

WOW!!!!!!!!!

I hope you’re very proud. I’m permitted to look at belly but not touch.

RumNotRun · 07/03/2025 07:56

@Allergictoironing you are on a roll at the moment! Things are going v well, maybe you should buy a lottery ticket 😁

JoanOgden · 07/03/2025 08:25

Ah Allergic that is lovely news! He'll become a lap cat at this rate!

Esgaroth · 07/03/2025 13:20

Kettle caught a mouse!

He was having a lot of fun until DH selfishly decided he didn't want the 'tail' bitten through.

Poor Kettle, spoilsport DH!

Herbie is a terror with wires. He has attacked many of them, and regards my hairdryer with particular suspicion!

ShoutyCatSlave · 07/03/2025 14:00

Agatha loves phone cables. I've had to replace the official ones with Anker "reinforced" ones. She also apparently likes small tubes of "stuff". Like a Dr Pawpaw balm that I got in an advent calendar. I went to use it and the product came out of 2 holes punched in the tube where she'd bitten through. Sigh.
