Lap dances, strippers and punch-ups - the Excellent Cats arrange a stag party

Well, the boys among them are making plans.

The lady cats are having a spa fortnight in Italy.

Bills for flights, accommodation, food, booze, medical insurance and legal fees (not to mention a fund for bribing officials at Ljubljana Prison) are allegedly being sent to an unmonitored email address.

Herbie is hopeless when it comes to toys. We got him a tunnel but he ignored it. I suppose I could get it out again and place dreamies along it!
He does play with a little blue star which has a flashing light in which I got from tkmaxx.
I think he knows it's as much for our entertainment as his, so he won't play ball (literally!) very often.

Somebody is not impressed by the fact he hasn't had lunch yet.

@EmpressaurusKitty she loves her toy mice, but I think she’s wondering why it’s necessary for it to be in a cup and whether it would be rude to take it out.

The mouse is very like her. It’s a shame they don’t do stripey ones for Stripey! Or do they?

This is Kitty’s new toy. There’s a stick that whips round under the pink cover, making it move, & pops out every so often. She was so fascinated that she missed both her morning naps, & is now exhausted on the sofa.

That’s probably the most expressive WE ARE NOT AMUSED face that I’ve ever seen.

Herbie's holiday is booked for July. He will be spending it in the cattery again 😽. It is a nice one though, out in the countryside, and the lady who runs it is lovely.
We have someone down the road who could pop in, but I would worry over 8 days, especially with Herbie's pigeon catching tendencies, and his feud with Timmy the ginger Tom!
What do others do about catteries, cat sitters etc?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/02/2025 16:29

I just heard a crash downstairs which apparently was Basil launching himself at the patio doors...

Cattery every time! Since one of our cats got bitten whilst we were away, cat sitter said "oh he was very good, sleeping in his bed" every time she came in - well yes that's because he was actually very poorly with a nasty abscess.

A friend's cat also went walk about every single time she went away, staying away for weeks at a time. I couldn't enjoy a holiday not knowing if they were safe, worst is they will be a bit bored.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/02/2025 17:36

I always get one of my DC to come and stay in our house when we go away.

Now that two of them live in the village, they won't have so far to come.

Next door & I take turns looking after each other’s cats, and if she’s not free there’s a fantastic local sitter.

We’re in a flat with a cat-safe balcony that Kitty can only get to if someone opens the door for her, so I’m not worried about her getting lost. She doesn’t like other cats so I think she’s best off staying in her own space.

ShoutyCatSlave · 13/02/2025 18:06

Agatha has a sitter. She totally ignores her, doesn't want pets, but adores that the sitter tries to bribe her with treats! Lol. I don't restrict her cat flap use, so she comes and goes as she fancies. I have come home to a live, but chewed, pigeon. Twice. 🤢.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/02/2025 18:08

Our cats don't go on kitchen surfaces. Oh no, they definitely don't.

It depends on circumstances I suppose. I don't think I could trust DD to look after him well, besides, she is coming on holiday with us this time. Then again, he would never allow anyone to forget to feed him!
As I say, my main worry would be the pigeons, given his past form in catching them!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/02/2025 18:13

Because NDN (he of Gizmo fame) has moved abroad we'll have to persuade one of our sons to look after the cats when we go away.
Our four have never been in a cattery.

Neither does Linney.

And Gizmo doesn't because he can't jump up high enough.

I daresay in his younger days he would have spent a good deal of his time on the kitchen work surfaces.

He strikes me as the sort of cat who doesn't like to be told not to do anything.
🤣

Kitty doesn’t either.

Nor Kettle. He wouldn't dare.

I don't know how well you can see in this photo, but he's been having some eye discharge the past few days, so he's got a vet trip to look forward to in the morning. Hopefully it's nothing serious!

Vix doesn't believe in such a thing as kitchen worktops. In the kitchen, there are shelves for her to walk and sleep on which I annoyingly keep trying to prepare food on and then act like the food isn't for her.

Kitty’s less interested than she used to be, I think because her tower is higher. And the sofa & dining chairs have always been comfier. (Open plan kitchen / lounge space).

She’s a bit annoyed at the moment because I’ve got a cold & the coughing & sneezing irritates her.

RumNotRun · 13/02/2025 22:11

Vix has higher and more comfortable places but then she may miss out on licking a spot of mayonnaise/butter/egg/anything from cutlery. My dad's flat coated retriever is known as prewash due to her predilection for trying to lick the plates and cutlery as you stack the dishwasher. Vixen would give her a run for her money!

Esgaroth · 14/02/2025 10:15

Not happy about the vet visit this morning which has really cut into his morning nap.

Luckily he didn't seem too poorly. The vet said he most likely just has a little cold but no fever or anything. We've got some eye drops which I'm sure he'll enjoy.

Cedric is feeling stressed this morning because FWK has workmen in the house.
