Well, the boys among them are making plans.

The lady cats are having a spa fortnight in Italy.

Bills for flights, accommodation, food, booze, medical insurance and legal fees (not to mention a fund for bribing officials at Ljubljana Prison) are allegedly being sent to an unmonitored email address.

Fingers and paws crossed for Tobias too @Allergictoironing

I just caught Kettle under the dining table bapping around an elastic band 😬 I have no idea where he got it from and removed it at once (if you remember he swallowed one before which led to a certain amount of bother).

He clearly loves them, though! Does anyone know of any safe alternatives that he might enjoy - similar kind of thing but can't be swallowed by very stupid cats mighty hunters?

Not exactly similar but Kitty loves batting corks around & pouncing on them - I think it’s something to do with them rolling in circles.

All digits crossed for Tobias @Allergictoironing , and good luck to you in getting him to his appointment: have you chain mail you can wear?

Oh I learned THAT lesson back in August when I was trying to get him in for his jabs - I still have the scars on my leg!

DSis will be coming to help with the crating and carrying, as my back is still under doctors orders - he weights just over my maximum allowance to pick up, add to that a) squirming & fighting to get away and b) the weight of the carrier once he is in, and I'm banned from doing it without assistance from her. We have thick reinforced gardening gloves for her & leather ones for me, and both will be wearing thick padded coats!

All the best with Tobias tomorrow, Allergic.
I'm glad Annie will be coming round to help you.
I hope you get some answers.

The vet has just phoned us.

Linney hasn't got various things.
He hasn't got diabetes, or thyroid problems, and he hasn't got kidney disease.

He has got congestive heart failure, so the vet is starting him on medication.

As he goes to the vet's every month anyway, we'll see in four weeks if he's started to regain some weight. If he has lost even more, he'll need to have an abdominal scan and chest x ray, to look for lymphoma.

Let's hope that a month on Fortekor tabs will improve matters.

Oh lovely Linney! I hope so much that the medication works.

Breadcat24 · 10/02/2025 21:30

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne best wishes to the lovely Linney

Breadcat24 · 10/02/2025 21:31

@Allergictoironing paws cross for Tobias and hope you are not clawed to shreds

JaceLancs · 10/02/2025 22:53

Not been on here recently but Finlay is back to his usual ravenous self with occasional fussy moments
He lost collar and tracker last week so had 2 days of air tag whilst we waited for new one
In between he’s being adorable

New bonnet mascot today Not exactly Lalique...

No, but more like Le Chat Noir (that art nouveau poster !)

RumNotRun · 10/02/2025 23:31

Fingers and paws crossed that the next 4 weeks see good progress for Linney and that Tobias has good results too.

I am back home now and have been forgiven for abandoning the wee beasties. I did bring them home a fancy catnip toy and some bloody expensive fish treats which only Frank and Lexter liked.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/02/2025 23:47

I've ordered yet another cat toy for the boys.
I'll never learn.
They'll mess about with it for forty seconds, then ignore it (going on previous experience)

I bought a stick Kong toy for Kitty which has been a hit so far. I waggle it under one of her blankets & she pounces.

Allergictoironing · 11/02/2025 06:56

I feel so CRUEL! Shut him in their bedroom with no problems last night, was just drifting off to sleep to be woken by very soft pathetic wails coming from that room. Then this morning, when he could hear me getting up & about he was scrabbling at the door and crying again.

Went in with a bowl with about 10g of shredded ham mixed with crushed Gabapentin & some of the gravy from Girlcat's breakfast. He was hiding behind the curtain (2nd most defensive position for him) & hissed if I came close, so just put the temptation on the bed & shut him in again. Hopefully he'll be so hungry he eats it, I did shut him in before he'd had much supper last night.

Allergictoironing · 11/02/2025 08:35

OMG what an ANGEL!. He had totally ignored the poison laced ham so no sedation, and was hiding behind the curtain when Annie and I went up. However with me stopping him leaving behind the curtain she reached in and he let her scoop him up & put him in the crate with virtually NO struggling!

RumNotRun · 11/02/2025 08:46

What a good boy Tobias, well done!

HumanToCatBeasties · 11/02/2025 08:56

So glad you managed to get Tobias in the crate with minimal fuss @Allergictoironing I'm sure you will be forgiven when he gets back home and has some non-gabapentin laced breakfast and some treats. Hope the scan is helpful in treating him.

JaceLancs · 11/02/2025 09:29

Hope Tobias gets on ok with his scan x

Does this mean he will have to lead a quiet life, to avoid strain on his heart?
