Here’s mine. He (white and grey) was found along with his sisters living feral behind some shops at about 4/5 weeks old and taken in by a rescue and we were lucky enough to adopt him. He now lives like a king.

Our other 2 rescue cats one passed away a few years ago and the other (black tuxedo boy) is 16 and still going strong. Both were found abandoned as tiny kittens.

No exciting story attached but our four are all Battersea cats (two pairs) - in each case I believe mum came in pregnant so kittens were born at Battersea.

This is my guy who was left behind when his people moved house. He survived one summer living outside before being trapped and rescued. He was dirty and injured when he was found, but came out of his shell very quickly when we got him home. We had a bit of bother with the injury but he's all better now.

He's probably 4 or 5 and he's been with us since September.

Came from chaotic house of cats having cats.

This is Sharon. We adopted her almost 10 years ago now, after her original owner passed away when she was about six months old. She's wonderful.

Shady
He was living with another cat and rehomed to one of their friends, she became unwell and he ended up in rescue

I had a cat previously who had to be PTS, and I rang his fosterer. She said "oh I've left that rescue but I set up my own. Funny you called... It's way too soon but I have this cat... he's as loving and daft as Ollie was, he's also a black male, and not on the website yet ..."
Anyway I went to see him and knew within 5 mins he was coming home with me!

This was Ollie, they said he was one of the sickest cats they had in for a while
He lived in a broken greenhouse as a stray for 4 years, being fed by an elderly woman. She died and there was nobody left to feed him

He was the tiniest, noisiest lovebug of a cat who adored me, rescue said they had never seen a cat so in love with a human

He was also very opinionated about things being right and had no patience which is probably why he sent me Shady 3 days after he died
Shady is a giant silent lovebug and I can just imagine Ollie being "THIS one, it'll be funny to send" Grin

Here is one of my darling boy cat. All of mine are rescues (the dogs too). My wee boy here is just the sweetest little cat in the world - he loves his mum and always sneaks into bed with me (boyfriend wasn’t delighted when we first got together, but he got used to it, lol).

This is one of my three boys. Found with a respiratory infection and a broken jaw wandering around an animal market in Dubai. Never had a home before us, he was a " Community Cat". Needless to say the local cats around his now forever home with us, were not prepared at all for his antics, neither were the neighbours! 😂

I chose 2 rescues on Saturday and am just waiting for my home checks to be done and I can pick them up at the end of the month. All I know is that they were strays, both with FIV. I'm so excited for them to live with me but also really nervous in case they don't like their new home.

This is Pepper. She lived in a busy household, with other cats, a dog, a preschooler and a baby. She found it all too much so she started to live in the wardrobe. Eventually she was taken by Cats Protection and we adopted her last April. She loves hanging out with me wherever I am and hopefully finds the one-child, no other pets household much quieter!

No picture sorry.

mine was 18m. Completely broken from being used as a kitten mill producing highly desirable grey kittens 🙄. Never been in a home, not much interaction, only ever been stuck raising litters.

nearly died in rescue. We went to see her- didn’t get to because she was so terrified. But took a punt anyway as we felt she needed a home more than we needed a particular type of cat.

took her 6 months to come out of the utility room. Any noise terrified her, if we moved anything she got stressed.

it’s been a long process but now she loves to hang around and chat, always looking for someone to be near. Can’t quite work up to sitting on a lap unless it’s very quiet and she’s reasonably sure the person isn’t going to move. But she’s living a pampered life and has staff on hand to cater to her every demand- she is learning to yell until someone works it out 😂

This is Kloppy (I'm an LFC fan). He was a street/church kitty in a little village in Cyprus, we met and I fell in love with him (just before the pandemic). Five years later and he's the angel of my heart, little bugger but love him so much 😻

This is Thistle. He was a Cats Protection League rescue at around 6 months. Apparently he was thrown from a moving vehicle. I think he bounced a couple of times (he's not the brightest!) We were told he'd never be a lap cat. I don't think he read the memo...

This is Louie. He turned two last week, and we adopted him from Cats Protection last April after our beloved girl cat was pts with intestinal cancer aged ten. He had been a stray kitten, and took a wee while to become “our cat”, but now he’s a lovely, funny, cuddly boy. Today he gave me a sparrow as a present.

Mum and litter of kittens found in someone’s garden and handed over to the RSPCA. The RSPCA lady described the mother as the thinnest cat she’d ever seen - but she was so sweet and gentle. 1 kitten didn’t make it, the other 4 were all okay and were fostered and rehomed in pairs when they were old enough. The mum also went to a loving home.

Snowycat looks just like her mum but she had blue eyes and her mum’s were green. She’s a lovely chilled out cat who knows how pretty she is and likes to be the centre of attention. Stripeycat was tiny and had to be partially bottle fed when she first came in to rescue or she would have died. But she is an absolute whirlwind and a real personality - very intense and slightly bonkers but also very loving.

They love each other and are completely inseparable.

I adopted Sweep from the RSPCA at the age of 3 months. She was abandoned to them with a note that she was the last of a litter and they hadn’t been able to sell her so they didn’t want her anymore.

This is Nala. We've had her 18 mos, she's 4. She was a lockdown kitten and terrorised by 3 kids in a family. When she was given up, no human could touch her. After 6 mos of hard work with her, the rescue advertised her for adoption and when we went to see her, she jumped on my knee and started purring. She's a little nuts but answers to her name, loves a cuddle, purrs like an engine and chats away to us. We love her so much!

This is Marley 8, rescued from a shelter when he was 3. His owners were unable to keep him. The most beautiful. Loving boy. We adore him.

MycatisDusty · 20/01/2025 22:55

This is Dusty, he's 13. We adopted him as a kitten and he's been an affectionate family member ever since. He had a brother at the rescue centre who looked a lot like him and I sometimes wonder what kind of life he ended up with. Dusty spends a lot of time on his appearance, enjoys a brush and has his own insta account.
