@robinsnest1967 I have never met anyone else who has a pair of FIV boys before!!!

My giant ginger is Flynn, we rescued him in 2021 aged 4. I can't believe we've had him 4 years- he and DH are soul mates! He parks himself of DH's lap and hangs out whilst he plays on the PC. They also have some weird agreement that he bites DH to express affection!!! He is as daft as he is handsome and looks like a complete Disney cat. We picked him up in lockdown, having "met" him over Zoom and I actually gasped when they carried him out- it was true love at first sight. Every Friday when I wfh he sneaks onto my lap for morning cuddles. He's pretty bombproof because he would sleep through anything and is know to all of DH's colleagues and clients because when he's not asleep, he's parading all over the Zoom camera so he has some fans! Flynn feels like our soul cat, that fitted in perfectly with our quiet lifestyle- he just wants to be as warm as possible and to either be sleeping or eating or being admired at all times!!!

In 2023 we rocked his world by adopting him a brother!!! The combination of Flynn being under socialised and confused at how to play, inherently lazy and a house cat due to his FIV had left him rather round... the RSPCA were gobsmacked we wanted a 2nd FIV and 11 year old Ian has been exactly what we all needed.... He has patiently taught Flynn to play (and accepted a fair few bops on the nose as Flynn worked out that Ian wanted to play with him, not kill him....) and is the cleverest cat I've ever met. In week 1 when we were trying to do controlled introductions he escaped "his" room and CLOSED THE DOOR BEHIND HIM so no one would realise he'd got out, until he popped up on DH's Zoom call! Aged 12, he still gets wild zoomies and climbs the wall and is obsessed with water. He's so nosey and has to be involved in everything but is actually much shyer than his brother and will take himself off upstairs at the slightest whiff of a visitor and is rarely seen on Zoom. He gets bonus points for being an absolute mummy's boy and squeaks at me frantically every day when I get home from work until I pick him up and cuddle him! Never met a cat like him and also now answers to "Pickle!!!" I feel like he's lived all his 9 lives before coming to us and that getting to be his forever is a privilege.

We love them both fiercely and they have us falling about laughing every day!

Lars (1 yo) was found dumped as a kitten in the street, very poorly with parvo, ticks and fleas. Most likely dumped by a backyard breeder who didn’t want to fork out for vets bills. He’s thick as two short planks, uncoordinated and just not very good at catting generally. Missed lots of memos, this one. We love him to bits.

Here's my new baby 😍. He's about 4 months old and I got him from a rescue just before Christmas!

Are you thinking of adopting, OP?

Kitty is five & came from my small local rescue. She was pregnant when she was brought in.

We’re very happy together.

years ago this lovely black cat wandered into my late MILs house and stayed. no idea where she was from but she was quite happy except mils other cat did bully her a bit so she made her home upstairs out of the way. this worked well as late FIL spent a lot of time in bed.
when they both passed the downstairs cat went next door but the upstairs cat Minky would need rehoming. trouble is at 19 years old rescues would not touch her so reluctantly we took her. Reluctantly because we had two rescue dogs who to our knowledge had never had contact with cats in the home,
for a while we left Minky at MILs home going up to feed her daily etc but as colder weather was coming in we brought her home.
far from bloodshed our bigger dog is scared of her! and our chihuahua well i am sure Minky and Moo the dog think that Moo is a cat well same size.
Minky is now 22 years old nearly 23 still very active thin but always has been. she loves to sit by me on the chair not a lap cat but if you dont fuss her she taps you with her paw as if to say come on i need a fuss! she is very very vocal never know such a noisy cat.
mind she has made my nerves bad! we went away for a weekend left food for Minky and cat flap for her of course. got back no sign of her. i broke my heart thinking she had maybe gone away to die as they often do, we have a lot of wildlife round here so thought they may have eaten her or succumbed to the roads so we did what we could rang vets put on social media etc.
just when we had given up after nearly 3 weeks i had a message from someone who said had I seen Facebook that morning? i got on there and it said a local hairdressers had had a cat turn up. it had been waiting in their yard at the rear when they opened now it was sat in the shop eating salmon! it did look like Minky so got hubby to go and check. soon as he opened the door loud yelling so no mistake she was ours! what is really scary she would have had to cross 3 roads and goodness only knows where she was for 3 weeks before. the roads are the worst in the district so not sure if she has any lives left but 23 is a good age. when we go away we leave the cat flap shut!

The blue and cream one is my current overlord. Penelope. Rescued from a breeder who'd paid £1000for breeding rights but, she refused to do her duty. Has loads of health problems, but now getting there. She's a tiny tyrant!

Red one was cheddar, she was my soul cat. She was fabulous. She died suddenly last year.

The black one was Magic. She was also an ex breeder rescued from a kitten farm. She came with her identical sister Maia. In died aged 8. They were the most wonderful affectionate girls.

Cheddar had an opinion on everything, and we'd have full conversations. She had no concept of personal space, and lived everyone!

Kitty does that too. She’s absolutely brilliant at getting her point across.

My big boy Tolkien is 7 and came to me when he was 2 with his brother Tolstoy via a local rescue. Their owner was evicted and had to give them up. After Tolstoy died suddenly when he was 5 I applied for a young adult black cat. The rescue didn't have one but they had 3 week old little Tennyson who had been born in rescue and came to me when he was old enough. He'll be 2 in March.

I have Herbie, who I have posted about on the black and white cats thread and others!
He is about 4 and we have had him nearly 2 years now. We got him from our local rescue but don't know much about him except that he was found as a stray. We think that may explain his food obsession. We were told he had to be an 'only' cat which is a shame as I would love to adopt more.
He is quite naughty, definitely no lap cat, but he likes our company and to be in the same room as us.
He is the exact opposite of our previous rescue cat who was a little female tabby and white who was very affectionate, would sit on laps, and when it came to food, mainly licked the jelly off her catfood!

This is Furby, our RSPCA rescue. We’ve been his slaves since October 2021.
He’s a very tall cat but nearly starved and was only 2kg when rescued with multiple others. He’s now just under 6kg and rather food obsessed. We all adore him, but he particularly has me under his little white paw.
Love all the cats on here and their happy ever after stories

Isn’t anyone else curious about the OP though? @Lupeyy hasn't been back - I wonder if she’s considering adopting.

Hello, this is Hugo, I adopted him in 2020 via a post on here. His previous owner posted asking for advice about rehoming him, he wasn’t happy as she had three small children he didn’t like. As you can imagine she got her arse handed to her, poor thing. I offered to take him, cue lots and lots of frothing about not handing him over to a random on mumsnet.
Anyhoo the point is I love him very much and he loves me ❤️

We lost our lovely Elvis last September. Went to an open day at a local cat sanctuary hoping for a tabby kitten.

Ended up coming home with this pair - only been in the house 6 hours but they are so chill, and one already snuggled on DD's knee fast asleep!
No names as yet but open to suggestions!

Floss on the left was a stray, she's about 7/8 now, was about 3/4 when we got her, she likes to sit in high places and observe everyone. If there's a box on top of a box on the table to sit on, so much the better. She's confident and a bit bossy, she gets hangry if there’s a slight delay in the meal service, which is quite often.

Mimi was rescued from a cage in a garden shed along with 70 other cats, she was about a year old and she's lived with us almost 3 years now. She spent her first month with us living under my bed. She has cat flu and can't jump very well, she only has about 6 teeth left, rarely goes outside and spends her days asleep in the warmest place she can find in the house. She's really sweet natured, very placid and holds her own without being nasty back when Floss is hangry.

You have to admire cat rescues.
''I know this isn't what you intended but here are two black kittens for you - bye!'
Worked on us too 🤣

Agree that this is a lovely thread! I have seen many of the featured felines on other threads and it is so lovely to read their origin stories, especially the happy endings! 😻
