As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

Walter and Benny are always on the worktops, it drives me crazy.

Loving all the photos. Sybil looking beautiful as always.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/12/2024 07:44

Basil and Sybil are always on the kitchen table, particularly at breakfast time.
Karl goes on less frequently but Lenny never seems to go on it (always reckoned he wasn't a 'proper' cat) 🤣

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/12/2024 07:50

Kitty’s not that interested. She goes on the worktop sometimes but I think it’s just a different place to sit.

Love this photo of Kitty 😻

Since recent house renovations created a lot of dust I'm finding dusty paw prints on my kitchen worktops every morning. I can only assume that one of the cats is getting on top of the kitchen cupboards, which is the only area that hasn't been cleaned. The weird thing is that I haven't seen either of them up there in a long time, although it used to be a favourite place for running around when they were younger. Boris is the prime suspect.

I’d be tempted to put a camera up. Or measure the paw prints & compare with paw sizes.

I do like the idea of filming what they get up to when I'm not watching. Matilda's alibi is that she was far to busy sleeping to be bothered doing anything that involves that much jumping and to be fair it seems convincing.

I like the idea of it too but I’m pretty sure I’d just get a lot of footage of the lump under the duvet.

I rest my case...

I piled my 2 sheepskin rugs on top of each other "temporarily" when I put the tree up. Agatha has now decided that this is her favourite sleeping place. Looking very content this morning, for her post-breakfast nap.

And gratuitous Karl and Basil pictures on the table this morning too - curiously sitting in almost exactly the same position within a few minutes of each other

Why are cats so stressful? Boris has already left a furball on my new sofa this morning. Now I've found a piece of tinsel regurgitated into their food bowl (not very festive). I only have one big piece of tinsel in the whole house as I don't trust Matilda not to try and eat thinner pieces, but one of them has chewed a bit off and eaten it. I'm now hoping that there's not more tinsel inside one of them. I😒It's just as well their furry, purring, snuggly beasties to compensate for all the gross bits.

LostCats · 30/12/2024 11:10

Shouty, I think those rugs are staying in that location. To be fair, 2 lovely rugs right next to a radiator was only ever going to end one way…

LostCats · 30/12/2024 11:11

The boys are back! We were in France for Christmas and the boys were at the Cattery. Poor DH, Eko howls the whole way whic is an hour!
They’re now roaming the house yowling at the strange smells. House is complete anarchy as the unpacking always just explodes so it’s a bit wild

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/12/2024 11:34

@LostCats the howling for an hour is your DH's punishment for putting Eko and Co into the cattery in the first place.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/12/2024 12:02

I’m putting Kitty’s new cat tree up on the wall today. It’s quite a performance.

If after all this she decides not to use it, I’m going to use it for plants instead.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/12/2024 12:34

Paw Broon hasn't brushed his hair today, for some reason.

I told him he looked like The Wild Man of Borneo.

He said he'd prefer the moniker The Wild Man of Auchterarder.

Whoever he was.

I have to say that I'm impressed with your tenacity.

I think we need to take bets on whether Kitty will use the cat tree, or if it will become the resting place of a few calceolarias.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/12/2024 12:44

I'm going with 100/1 against. Against Kitty using the cat tree, I mean.

I'm putting £10 down.

I'd go with those odds too 😁.

Although much to my surprise the Grumpy cats have wholeheartedly adopted the second hand cat beds we've been given this year - so you never know.

What are the odds for Kitty ignoring the cat tree until EmpressaurusKitty has filled it with plants, then knocking all the plants off and deciding that she will sleep nowhere else now?

Pudmyboy · 30/12/2024 12:52

Love that floofy tail!😻

I think the angle makes it look extra floofy, she was sleeping on top of me at the time so it was hard to get a picture. She does have a beautiful tail though, it looks like a stripey toilet brush when she gets startled.

Valid point.

Much yowling from both now as they wander round the house informing us of our failings. So lovely to have them home
