As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

There's messy - and there's "can't get between the coffee table & the sofa to sit down due to the crap the cat has scattered around mouse hunting"! lol

Could you turn it into a game, the 'mess' is the sea and the rest is land and the first one to the sofa makes the tea wins?

Paw paws has arrived for a Christmas nap

A helpful assistant oversees carving of leftover ham.

I love the way cats use their tails as a sort of prehensile hand, in this example resting on the carver's slipper as a reminder of his presence. I didn't realise cats did this till my friend's beautiful fluffy black cat (sadly no longer with us), flicked said elegant tail around my calf as I was preparing his food, and held it there till I finished preparation and put the bowl down for him. It wasn't a natural angle to hold his tail and felt like the cat equivalent of an arm round my shoulder. Beautiful boy.

One of my fosters had a beautiful heavy black plume of a tail. If I was working on the computer and he knew it was coming up to lunchtime, he’d drape it over my mouse wrist as a reminder.

Ahh! Christmas Lexter! I hope Santa left him loads of lovely turkey for his tummy

Morning and a very late Merry Christmas to all the excellent cats!
I didn’t manage to keep up with the thread, but have now caught up.
Poppy is enjoying the heated blanket I got for Christmas and is not letting me get up.

Here are our glaring of 4 while we were eating Christmas dinner yesterday. Amber at the top pointedly turning her back on us as we hadn’t given any turkey yet.
They did get their fill later and promptly fell asleep for hours.

Living room floor is, as I expected it would be, strewn with everything that was stacked up under the table. I am taking the opportunity to slowly go through everything & put/throw away as appropriate. Still trying to work out where a single worn sock came from though!

No sign yet of a corpse, so it may have escaped again this time. Girlcat just leaves the deceased corpse for me to tidy away once she's done, usually unmarked just a bit soggy. But no idea whether Tobias would eat or partially eat any remains, so being VERY careful looking before plunging my hands into anywhere!

ShoutyCatSlave · 26/12/2024 12:46

Happy Christmas to all the excellent cats and their slaves. Agatha is at home, with her lovely sitter popping in to feed and water her. Apparently she had fun chasing magpies in the garden yesterday. I'm hoping I won't have feathers and live, incensed birds to deal with tomorrow....

RumNotRun · 26/12/2024 13:01

Good luck @ShoutyCatSlave I think magpies can be as good at remembering as crows. I feed them peanuts every morning to try to keep them as friends, and to thank them for helping me catch Vixen when she escaped out if the front door once. She did her usual hiding under cars but then disappeared. It was only the magpies swooping and shouting that helped me find her and bring her back home 😁 They were not impressed by her antics!

EmpressaurusKitty · 26/12/2024 17:37

I haven’t seen Kitty since this morning. Her first Christmas here, with the cat tree and her new bag & listening to the people opposite singing carols, apparently wore her out so she’s spent most of the day in bed.

She’s missing the excitement of helping me turn out the kitchen cupboards.

I like the way his bow tie has moved round to become a regular 'bow', maybe he doesn't want to be a sophisticated James Bond type and would rather just be cute😻

Esgaroth · 26/12/2024 23:56

Kettle is home alone tonight. We're in another town about an hour away and his sitter will be there in the morning to give him breakfast etc, but he's all by himself right now.

I'm a bit worried about him, even though I know he's surely fast asleep on his blanket.
