As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

Kettle is home alone tonight. We're in another town about an hour away and his sitter will be there in the morning to give him breakfast etc, but he's all by himself right now.

I'm a bit worried about him, even though I know he's surely fast asleep on his blanket.

I always feel guilty when I’m away, and Kitty’s always absolutely fine. Kettle will be too.

RumNotRun · 27/12/2024 00:21

Raven has decided to kill the box.

I do worry if I leave the cats on their own and have an impromptu overnight stay somewhere, or a very late night out. I know they don't care and will just be curled up asleep but my brain tries to tell me they'll think they've been abandoned or whatever.

I think Sybil has enjoyed her Christmas snacking..

DISCLAIMER - it's all fluff 🤣

That's a fabulous pic of Sybil. 😻

Came down this morning to find everything I hadn't managed to clear away yesterday strewn even further round the living room including where someone (prob Tobias) had pushed things off the somewhat over crowded coffee table; I had to push things out of the way with my foot to even get to the food bowls! Spoke to Annie and postponed until tomorrow as there's just tooooo much for my back to cope with before they came today, even if we postponed for a couple of hours. They may have to do the upstairs litter tray change for me tomorrow anyway.

Then when my Asda delivery arrived, turns out that the cream I'd ordered to go on the Yule log we have for entertaining Annie & nephew no. 4 had exploded at some stage coating part of my order plus the floor of the delivery van with cream. Poor driver, wasn't his fault & took him ages to clear up the mess inside my porch where he'd put the crates down before we noticed it. Then again I ended up with a few items refunded as "damaged, left with customer" based on the destroyed packaging including a substitute I had intended on returning (something I like, just not what I'd particularly wanted) which was also left with me for free. And as a "win" one sub was the extra special Pigs in Blankets instead of the standard ones, at the same price 😈. Luckily Annie was still part way through HER shopping, so got hold of her by phone in Morrisons just before she got to the dairy section there to get more cream!

The way the last couple of days have gone, curtesy of cats & the Mouse, mean I'm already looking at Sunday as a possible in case they do it again! At least the Yule Log has a couple more days before the sell by, and most of the rest is frozen.

GT really is Gizmo in disguise. I went out to talk to him - he happily accepted a head scritch and a stroke - then hissed and swiped me.
Made me feel all nostalgic and warm inside 🤣

Golly Allergic, that sounds very chaotic. Do you mean to say that the mouse may still be there somewhere?

Win-win over the shopping though. Eventually.
😂

I have to say that the Ginger One has the same determined look in his eye as Guillermo.

Yep, pretty sure the mouse is still in the living room. Unfortunately Girlcat is dividing her time between the living room (where she lost the mouse she caught) and the kitchen by the washing machine, so there may well be at least 2 😯

The sitter says he's fine and is being very friendly.

I don't know whether he misses us (he probably doesn't care at all 😄), but I miss him. I am looking forward to seeing his fluffy tummy again tomorrow!

He sounds like a character. At this point do you have to ask yourself whether there is something about you or your house/cats that attracts feline neighbours with attitude?

Breadcat24 · 27/12/2024 16:34

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I think Gizmo posted the news that there was a vacancy

I told you lot - it's the irresistibility of the beauteous Sybil that brings them round. There's probably a list of them waiting their turn for a crack at the Goddess of the neighbourhood...

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 27/12/2024 17:20

Well I'd like to think that it might be as a result of Mrs G's and my creation of a wonderful cat Nirvana with food on demand 24*7 and free access to a seemingly infinite supply of rodent snacks and varied leisure activities outside...
But no - I suspect Allergic has it - it"s really all about Sybil (the little Siren).
OR
I suppose it could be some Great Cat God's retribution on Lenny for his frequent misdemeanors. 🤣

EmpressaurusKitty · 27/12/2024 17:21

Or maybe news has got round that they could win a free trip to Scotland.

However fine they are, they still have to go through the punishment ritual when you get back. It’s the rule.

Ernie won’t eat Turkey from his bowl yet wants to share it from my plate. He is not the brightest. Just learned how to hook a door open after 12 months. Love him to bits thou, a total lap boy

Frankfurter is snoring away with a tummy full of turkey AND pigs in blankets. Lexter and Toad are just hovering waiting for me to get up so they can have more turkey.

Perhaps I’m biased but he does have the most beautiful eyes
