As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

Kitty’s cousin sent her a salmon treat & she ate just enough of it for me to be able to get a photo for them.
The wrapping paper my present came in, on the other hand…

Your kitten looks wonderfully relaxed!

Great card @LostCats

Have a fabulous Christmas/Yule/Saturnalia everyone.

You know it's Christmas Eve when the NDN have a screaming argument with things being thrown about mid evening. And then you wake up Christmas day with the back deciding it doesn't work any more - 15 mins just to be able to get out of bed to go to the loo!

On the other hand did manage to get out of work by 4:15 yesterday afternoon, traffic was really light, no work now until Monday, and plenty of posh biscuits and mint matchmakers locked away in the cupboard for next week. Manager who picks on me at work was in (luckily a few others too), and was actually sociable rather than just grunting at me.

Was greeted by chirrups from Tobias this morning, and Girlcat insisted on being picked up for a cuddle even before breakfast.

Plus I have a quarter bottle of Freixenet looking at me for later, curtesy of a lovely team member who gave us all one as a pressy - and she doesn't even drink herself! And a couple more pressies from team mates to open later.

Merry Christmas to all Excellent Cats and their Excellent owners 🐱,

I'm away from mine surrounded by noisy grandchildren would've been quieter with Wedgwood and Leanora

I gave the demons the giblets and neck this morning. Toad sniffed at it and walked away. The others (Vix, Ghostie, Raven) just ignored it all. I thought I'd cook them (the giblets, not the cats) to see if that was more palatable for the fussy buggers. Nope, still ignored. Lexter has come down, ignored it all. Fred isn't interested.

However my perfect angel Frankenstein was still in bed so I carried him into the kitchen, put him by his Christmas breakfast and he is happily tucking into it all. He's the best boy.

Esgaroth · 25/12/2024 12:37

Oh Rum, did you not boil them for the gravy stock first? I hope Frankenstein appreciates the sacrifice! Lucky cat.

The others sound like ungrateful urchins, but I'm sure they'll love their turkey later 😄

RumNotRun · 25/12/2024 12:50

I make terrible gravy so I didn't bother boiling them for stock. I don't know what I do wrong, I've tried so many tips and recipes. My sister makes amazing gravy and she's talked me through it, but it still just tastes gross when I do it.

I just went to check on Frank. He's eaten all the giblets, given the neck a good go and is now sitting in the kitchen right next to the oven. Not sure if he's enjoying the heat or waiting for the turkey to be done!

Breadcat24 · 25/12/2024 14:50

Loving the Christmas Kitties
Get well soon all those not well cat and human!

Finlay strolled in at 2pm just as I was serving lunch - he’s had such a busy night/morning that he’s top of the exercise leader board today
DP says I’m like a stage door Mother!! Haha

Kitty’s supervising the building of her cat tree. Only one major mistake so far & that should be fixable.

Finlay's timing is impeccable! I love his tracker stats, I'd be obsessed if I'd used them on my previous outdoor cats.

Nearly everyone here is full of turkey. Lexter and Ghostie haven't come down for any so I'll take some up to them shortly, when I go for a post lunch nap. Frankie actually stood on my lap earlier purring and kneading the blanket. I can't remember him ever doing that before. It was a Christmas miracle 😁

Not cat related, and a contentious subject perhaps, but I made a Yorkshire pudding to go with my Christmas dinner. I may not be able to make good gravy but I think I have nailed the Yorkshire pudding.

Love Yorkshire puddings!

Good for Frankie.

HumanToCatBeasties · 25/12/2024 18:05

That Yorkshire pudding looks amazing. I'm fully in favour of Yorkshire puddings with anything involving gravy.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 25/12/2024 18:11

My Yorkshire's (almost cooked) to go with today's lunch. Mandatory for Christmas dinners. 😁

I should have known the bastions of good taste such as the residents of this thread would appreciate a Yorkshire pudding with their Christmas meal.

I have just got up from a post dinner nap to find the cats are still sleeping off the turkey.

When I was at university in Hull, there was a nearby pub called the Half Moon that did magnificent Yorkshire puddings. They were giant ones with sausages, gravy etc inside them.

Tasty memories.

A helpful assistant oversees carving of leftover ham.

Allergictoironing · 25/12/2024 20:38

Girlcat decided that she would get herself a Christmas gift - she caught the mouse again. Unfortunately she managed to let it get away right next to a big pile of Stuff under the table where it promptly hid, so she's dismantling that bit by bit - which will only spread it about giving the mouse even more places to escape.

Plus I'll have to get it all sorted & tidied tomorrow as Annie and nephew no. 4 are round on Friday. Only reason it's all piled there is because my back starts muttering at even the thought of it, but I suppose I'll just have to max out the painkillers tomorrow & get on with it lol.

In other cat news, they have both been very appreciative of the fresh Mollie's Mice and the tuna loin they got today. Well they were, but Girlcat is now completely distracted by mouse.

RumNotRun · 25/12/2024 21:15

@Esgaroth I hope his wages were paid in ham! Or other meat.

Surely the purpose of nephew 4 is to do the things you can't do @Allergictoironing ? Or is 4 his age? I always try to put my nephew to work in the rare occasion he visits me. I've told him if he doesn't then I will disinherit him in favour of the cats 😁

Allergictoironing · 25/12/2024 21:38

He is the 4th nephew, fully adult & has been for a few years now. I have to get enough help off Annie and him as it is at the mo because of my back; this is sort of our version of Christmas Day so I can't really ask him to work! Plus there will be pretty little to inherit when I go, especially shared between all of them!

RumNotRun · 25/12/2024 21:44

I'm sure they won't mind if things are messy and will understand that it's the cat's fault.

Allergictoironing · 25/12/2024 21:47

There's messy - and there's "can't get between the coffee table & the sofa to sit down due to the crap the cat has scattered around mouse hunting"! lol
