As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

One of my fosters was a bit too keen on cables - I wrapped them all in double sided, very sticky tape & suddenly they were less fun.

You wrapped your cats in double-sided sticky tape?
🤣

@Esgaroth Am I wrong in thinking that not so long ago Kettle was a stray living in a shed? (I could be confused) but such a cuddly boy now

He was living fully outside all summer - I don't think he had a shed. His people moved house and left him behind Sad

He was trapped by a cat rescue and we adopted him when he'd been about a month with them. We've had him now almost 3 months.

His character doesn't seem to have been too much affected, though. He was very quick to make friends with us!

Esgaroth · 19/12/2024 21:11

Doesn't sound so bad to be outside in the summer but it was a very cold wet summer here, not much different to a winter in the south of England where I grew up.

I think people did put out food for him, though. When he was rescued he was dirty and injured, but not underweight. Here he is in the shelter just before we met him.

Poor little scrap. I don't know how people can live with themselves.

Many years ago, the people next door to us in London left their rabbit behind when they moved. On purpose. Just left him in his hutch in the garden.

We called the RSPCA and we ended up adopting him. He was a lovely rabbit!

Festive Kettle in his posh wool blanket that is not for cats Xmas Grin

I see that Kettle is totally sticking to the "not for cats" rule. I love how obedient and rule abiding cats are. They're such angels.

I’m sorry to hear about your job, @coastergirl I hope everything works out for you.
Hello @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne 😉
it is true that brown - or broon - cats are under represented when it comes to colours. Especially all brown ones. Beautiful.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 19/12/2024 22:09

@coastergirl I'm sorry about your job, too. I left one after a similar length of time, and it felt like a bereavement.

That's exactly how it feels. I thought I'd be there forever. I'm going to miss the kids so much.

Yes. Although it was our very elderly neighbour who called Gizmo "The Broon One" when he couldn't remember his name.

Our other very elderly neighbour calls him Gonzo.

I’m considering renaming Kitty. We kept the name because it’s hers & she knows it, but it’s a bit boring & generic by itself.

She was going to be Empress Kitty of the Seven Oceans, after my favourite book & where I got my original MN username from, but for every day she’s usually Kitty-Bella, because she’s so pretty & I’m learning Italian, so I’m thinking of Kitty-Bella-Caramella, for her caramel streaks.

The whole thing would obviously be Kitty-Bella-Caramella, Empress of the Seven Oceans, but that’s a bit much for them to call out at the vets.

Should I take it to Baby Names, do you think?

@EmpressaurusKitty
I am ashamed to say I mostly call Breadcat "Pussky -woo"
Thankfully I do not think cats care

AnneKipankitoo · 19/12/2024 22:53

She’s a Dave

AnneKipankitoo · 19/12/2024 22:53

Pronounced Dayva

EmpressaurusKitty · 19/12/2024 22:55

Oh, she couldn’t care less. This is purely about me.

RumNotRun · 19/12/2024 23:18

She should have several names as all cats do. Frankie for instance is Frank, Frankie, Frankenstein, Frankfurter, Frankincense, Smol, Tiny Cat, Merp, Lego cat (cause his head is quite square).

RumNotRun · 19/12/2024 23:25

Fred is engrossed in The Old Man. I was worried it may be a bit violent for him but he doesn't seem to mind.

RumNotRun · 19/12/2024 23:27

As per usual I forgot the photo!

6 and 3/4…….?! 🤣 I need to know about that 3/4??

Well I reckon we had 4 and a half cats until the deportation order came through. 🤣
Rare to get all four of ours in one place at the same time (although there are three cats on the bed with us now), so here are our 2 sets of siblings.

If you do, you'll only end up with a long series of posts which recommend the name Balonz.

There will be an equally long series of posts which recommend the name Jimberley.

Good point. And a lot of debates about use of hyphens.
