As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

Oo is that a margarita, Jace? Finlay's looking magnificent as usual.

I'm thrilled this evening as after scorning the radiator bed I got him for an early Christmas present, Kettle has finally decided to give it a go.

Toad was doing the "hungry hippo" (where they extend their neck and then put their head flat on the floor in front of their body, like in the Hungry Hippo board game) pose earlier, cosied between the heated blanket and fleece one. I did have to check that he was breathing a couple of times as he was so still.

Oh look at him 😻 🐈‍⬛️ That's a content cat.

Esgaroth · 16/12/2024 22:17

He's getting into it now. I told him it would be cosy!

Kettle's black radiator bed looks much fancier than the "white" one this lot used to have. It stayed white for about 5 minutes and then always looked a bit grubby even when it was freshly washed.

Esgaroth · 16/12/2024 22:29

Black was a terrible choice tbh for a cat who is about 50% white, but it was the only colour left in the shop.

LostCats · 16/12/2024 22:57

So I have a question about the radiator beds. I’d love to get Eko one. However he is..um.. rotund? That may be the word. And I am a little worried he will rip the radiator out of the wall if he got on the bed. Or am I overthinking this?

JaceLancs · 16/12/2024 23:06

@Esgaroth not a margarita tonight as no Cointreau of triple sec and I’ve got work tomorrow - cloudy fresh lemonade and tequila makes a lovely long drink - Finlay is very fluffy at moment lol

TheLongRider · 17/12/2024 00:13

I haven't been posting on the Litter Tray very often so I offer a selection of foster kitten photos in tribute. It has been a busy year of kitten fostering from bottle feeders to wobbly kittens.

That’s hard work, Long Rider, but has a great payoff.
One of us is having a very comfortable lie down, with much purring.

Kitten fosterers are amazing, @TheLongRider.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/12/2024 06:37

@RumNotRun another hungry hippo!

Over thinking I'd guess, depending on just HOW much Eko weighs!

I've had both cats sharing the one until I got a second recently, and between them they weight around 11kg. Girlcat is long, and developing a bit of a middle aged spread, whereas Tobias is just a bit of a chunk! Now they have 2 side by side.

But also bearing in mind how many toddlers (or sometimes older!) swing off radiators when they are off, I think you'd need a very large Maine Coon or similar to worry about pulling the radiator off the wall.

learieonthewildmoor · 17/12/2024 06:58

That hippo position is Cat Two’s signature style.

Ah perfect! Thank you Allergic! I’ll get him one. He will be so pleased

RumNotRun · 17/12/2024 07:56

@Toddlerteaplease Pen does Hungry Hippo so well although I do think @learieonthewildmoor may have a contender for the best HH pose 😁

Defiantlynot41 · 17/12/2024 08:04

Only 1 hippo in the Defiantcat household- this is the teeny tiny (2.4kg) one who is not offended at being called a hippo

Absolutely gorgeous, did they all find their forever homes?😻

I think they have a weight limit usually written somewhere on the packaging. I don't remember what it was on this one but it was a lot more than Kettle who is about 4.7 kg - I remember it seemed like more than a single cat could be.

I also think putting something too heavy on it would warp the frame of the bed long before it damaged the radiator.

Pianoaholic · 17/12/2024 09:24

Love all the hippocats!! And the gorgeous foster kitties 😸
@jacelancs I always think Finlay looks "velvety", he's beautiful.

Wedgwood broke radiator bed cause he was too heavy at 6.5 kgs, the frame bent, ended up putting a chair underneath to support him. He's now about 5.5 kgs after being put on a diet so probably would be ok - he now prefers stool/chair whichever is close to a radiator.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 17/12/2024 09:41

Love your fosters @TheLongRider 😻.
It's a great job you do with them.

LostCats · 17/12/2024 10:03

Eko is about 7.5kg (or more now I’ve noticed he’s looking like he’s got his ‘winter meals’ in. Dear me he takes hibernating seriously. Put on a nice fat layer (not sure I feel this is a good thing) and he basically just sleeps. To the point we were worried about him as the minute summer starts we don’t see him for months as he is off questing 😆 and then as soon as it’s cold - hibernation.

EmpressaurusKitty · 17/12/2024 14:32

Kitty is being adorable. I’m working but have to stop every so often to duly adore her.

Well, look at her.
