As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

@Allergictoironing I meant to ask earlier "a finger in her ear"???? Do you just hold it there, squiggle it around?

Near enough yes. Get around the top joint of the forefinger in & sort of massage the inside of the ear. Just usually stick a tissue over the end as she has a tendency to waxy, grubby ears so kill 2 birds with one stone as making her happy AND cleaning her ears out. She also really loves being rubbed quite firmly just at the entrance to the ear canal.

Learned the trick from Boycat, used it once at the vets and both she and the vet nurse were amazed. Next time I went in the nurse said she's tried it on her cat at home who also loved it, and I gather they've suggested it to a few cat owners since then 😀

Girlcat was stuck to me like glue for hours after we came home this morning, and if I sat at the PC (back towards her) she would cry until I came to the living room with her. She's finally gone to sleep somewhere upstairs.

Interesting! I will try it out with the demons and see what they think.

At the moment they're all being assholes. Their litter trays are in the utility room so I have the door between the kitchen and utility open. At this time of year it makes the rest of the house cold, so I have closed the door in the hope they'll use the cat flap which was fitted (and ignored) last year. No luck so far. They're the nosiest beasts when I open a cupboard or if any other room has the door closed. They're just being contrary.

Hello Pianoaholic and Herbie! Does Herbie bring the pigeons inside? They can be big! 🙀

Pianoaholic · 11/12/2024 18:14

Hi , yes, some have been brought in!! One was posted alive through his catflap into the conservatory.....we shut Herbie out, got the cat basket and DH had to coax a startled pigeon inside and take it down the road to free it, attracting an odd look from a passing dog walker!
He really has it in for poor pigeons...but the other day he was trying to bring us a mouse so we locked the catflap. He has also left a magpie under our dining table, not sure why he felt it was the best place for it...

Pianoaholic · 11/12/2024 18:31

As my DS is fond of saying, "he's not a good cat", yet he was the reason we got another one as he kept going on about it. I do feel bad that he is such a hunter, which is why we tried collars. He just will not keep them on, and I'm never sure if they are a good idea or not, having heard about them catching on things.

Pixiedust1234 · 11/12/2024 18:33

@RumNotRun - the stray struggles with the cat flap but I refuse to keep the back door wide open in winter. So we got a long piece of string, looped it over the outside door handle and under the open flap. I figured the open catflap was a lot less draughty than a human door (it is). I can try and photo it if you are interested/confused.

@Pianoaholic - welcome to you both! I'm not convinced that is a litter bin as Herbie seems to be saying it's his new but empty dinner bowl.

@Pixiedust1234 I have actually taped the flap open so it's more of a hole than a cat flap. I even stood in the utility room shaking a bag of Dreamies thinking if I got them to use it once then they'd be fine. Only Toad and Vixie came for treats, and they were the ones who'd happily used the cat flap hole in the first place.

Pixiedust1234 · 11/12/2024 18:48

Oh. Well... those cats have certainly got you well trained 😬

LostCats · 11/12/2024 18:53

Welcome Piano and Herbie! He definitely is an Excellent Cat!

Pianoaholic · 11/12/2024 18:56

Aah, thank you. All the cats on here are so lovely, I am often tempted to get another but doubt that Herbie would approve!

EmpressaurusKitty · 11/12/2024 20:23

Welcome @Pianoaholic & Herbie! He’s a very handsome boy.

RumNotRun · 11/12/2024 20:51

Vixen, Toad, and Fred are having a little cuddle puddle next to me on the sofa.

Kitty’s very recently started curling up here in the evenings instead of in her favourite bed. I’m hoping we’re heading for eventual lap cattery.

Really like the knitted blanket, the colours are a great backdrop for Kitty!

He is certainly a real character...definitely only affectionate on his terms! He is quite happy to take a swipe at us if we go into the kitchen and fail to get his food! He was found as a stray, aged 2, before the rescue centre took him in, maybe that is why he behaves as if he doesn't know where his next meal is coming from! I'm afraid I excuse his bad behaviour by saying "but he's had a bad start in life", DH rolls his eyes at this.
Our previous cat was very different, a little female tabby and white, very affectionate, and not much interest in her food. Another photo attached, but ignore litter bin.
Love all your cats!

I like his 'bowl haircut' !😻

There are five cats on my sofa, making it look very untidy, and making me jealous as I would love to be curled up sleeping like this lazy bunch!

There’s more than a whiff of the last days of the Roman Empire about this decadent scene. It took me a while to find the fifth cat. You can just make out the ears.

Yes! and does Herbie have some wing eyeliner going on as well? 😸

Pianoaholic · 11/12/2024 22:47

Yes, my DD18 pointed that out! Not really noticed the bowl cut hairdo, but I see it now!😀

I am resigned to the ruination of my couch and arm chairs. This furry face is making me very happy.
Cat Three adores her, Cat One has accepted her, Cat Two still in the process of adapting but coming along nicely.

Cat 4 is gorgeous 😻

FlickyFlo · 12/12/2024 10:52

that is a ridiculously cute kitten with a tail that promises to be magnificent

RumNotRun · 12/12/2024 11:00

Not cat related but I received a Christmas card today which made me laugh so I thought I would share it.

Also, Cat 4 is the cutest little bundle of fluff and mischief 😍
