As we approach the festive season, they're already finessing their plans and recalling last year's successes............

Sadly only Boris the cat who is not known for his kitchen skills.

@Allergictoironing It's good to see a fellow beetroot lover. I'm cooking my Polish nana's recipe which involves cooking the beetroot and then grating it, so very hard to do without making a complete mess everywhere.

We used to grow our own at the old family home, then my mother would pickle it with vinegar and cloves. But I'm happy with it just boiled & sliced in a salad or on a ham or cheese sandwich, preferably with a small squirt of mayo. I almost overdosed on diced or shredded beetroot at the buffet on an all inclusive holiday to Morocco a few years back - it was there at every dinner & would make up at least half of my veg.

still forgot

That is one disgruntled cat!

Kitty doesn’t do laps (maybe one day) but she loves early morning strokes & headrubs.

Kitty looks very elegant in that photo, surrounded by lovely knitwear.

There are five cats on my sofa, making it look very untidy, and making me jealous as I would love to be curled up sleeping like this lazy bunch!

Kitty says thank you, she agrees that she’s extremely elegant.

My contribution to the cats and Lego posts.
Yoda is about the only Lego structure here that has survived the cats 😁.

Kettle met another neighbour today. I give her full marks for camouflage. Maybe we should paint the fence orange to give our cat more of an advantage 🤔

I had to look hard to spot the other cat!

Did he get on better with her than with Ginger?

I don't think so... maybe a bit? They stared at each other for ages and then Camouflage Cat ran away and Kettle chased her.

So not best friends at first sight but they didn't yowl or hiss and postures seemed less aggressive.

If nobody fluffed up that’s a bit more encouraging.

Raven is giving me fat cat cuddles. She's sitting on my lap with her arms stretched up my torso. I'm not sure why the spikes are out. I don't think she's angry?

Well that's Girlcat back from blood tests for FiV in case she's caught it off Tobias. She was rather UN-impressed at me not topping up the kibble before bed so it was all gone long before morning, and then after 2 teaspoons of breakfast in her bowl, which she only licked the gravy off, again no kibble put down.

So I put less than half a handful in the bowl & she dived in, giving me the opportunity to grab her & stuff her into the waiting crate. 😈. She was a nightmare to hold in place for the shaving & the blood taking, ending up with the nurse holding her head & me scritching her belly & sticking a finger in her ear (which she DOES like!). Now has a little white patch on her neck from the shaving.

Within 5 mins of getting home she was happily eating shreds of cooked chicken out of my fingers, however Tobias is nowhere to be found - clearly thought he was going to be next!

Been lurking on these threads for a while, they're my favourite on mumsnet for all the gorgeous cat photos.
Got my rescue cat Herbie 18months ago and would love him to be an Excellent Cat! He is usually known as The Herbster and his main loves in life are eating and sleeping (not fussed what or where!)
He has, unfortunately, reduced the pigeon population round our way....we did try collars, but gave up once he list about 6 within 2 months. So he is now collarless and looks likely to remain so. Will try to attach photo.

Hello and welcome @Pianoaholic and Herbie.
Herbie does look and sound to be the epitome of an excellent cat. 😁

Pianoaholic · 11/12/2024 15:12

Thank you. Herbie is feeling very honoured, and has just been given some dreamiest as a reward!

RumNotRun · 11/12/2024 15:19

Welcome Piano and Herbie, what a very handsome boy!

Pianoaholic · 11/12/2024 15:30

He is certainly a real character...definitely only affectionate on his terms! He is quite happy to take a swipe at us if we go into the kitchen and fail to get his food! He was found as a stray, aged 2, before the rescue centre took him in, maybe that is why he behaves as if he doesn't know where his next meal is coming from! I'm afraid I excuse his bad behaviour by saying "but he's had a bad start in life", DH rolls his eyes at this.
Our previous cat was very different, a little female tabby and white, very affectionate, and not much interest in her food. Another photo attached, but ignore litter bin.
Love all your cats!

@Allergictoironing I meant to ask earlier "a finger in her ear"???? Do you just hold it there, squiggle it around?
